Thank you, Michaelnkat! Yes, that’s what I do (Corepower Ryder at Corepower Yoga studios). Extremely helpful and I appreciate your detailed explanations and will keep it in mind.

The good thing is that Corepower is very come-as-you-are so no one will give me the stink-eye if I don’t follow the teacher precisely :-)

That’s about 75 days longer than mine!! Congrats on leaving the pace bunny in the dust (she is now officially a dust bunny!).

Hey, ice cream has zero calories if you eat it while walking! That’s what I always did when I was a college kid, and I was skinnier than a broom handle! :)

Wow–Lizardly. I’m impressed. What was the water temperature?

I walked 5K today–did a course that a local running club uses for a fall race. Worked out with my trainer on Tuesday and did TRX work and free weights. Finished with 45 minutes on the Cybex machine (elliptical).

MOWC: love your story. Sounds like something I’d do.

That’s a long way to swim! What was the pool temperature? I used to love swimming outside in cold weather in Dallas- we swam outside all year- but the pool was always nice and warm.

Survived my return to hot yoga. When I first got in the room it felt SO good! I said to myself, “This is great! Why did I stay away so long?” After a few postures, dripping sweat and starting to feel dizzy, I remembered! I had to sit down about 3 times, briefly, but all in all it went pretty well. I discovered that my quads have gotten REALLY tight, so I need some work there. I think the balance work is really important for me, so I do intend to go once a week at least. I want to go more frequently for awhile, if I can, to get back used to it. One woman left the room during the first breathing exercise- I hope she was OK. It’s really hard. Hard to get back dressed and back to work after that class, but at least we’re in jeans today.

The temp was listed as 79 degrees, but I suspect it was warmer. When the water is truly that cold, I have a harder time warming up. Or maybe the big contrast between air and water made the water feel warmer?

5k is done. Remembered your advice, MOWC, and didn’t go out too fast. Each mile got faster. A woman came up to me after the race and informed me I was her target - she was sure she’d be able to catch and pass me but I really surprised her on the hill (uphill finish). Felt good but don’t know that I’ll want to do them regularly!

Wow, uphill finish - that’s tough in my book! Congrats Sabaray - did you enjoy the shorter distance??? I too always have to tell myself, “start slow, start slow” - even though people will pass you left and right - much better for my body and for my breathing as I’ll admit I’m ALWAYS anxious at the start of a race.

Lizardly, can’t believe the swim! What state are you in?
