Idad, did you say you’d like some more fruitcake and clementines? Gimme your address…
Fortunately, most of the Xmas chocolate is gone…unfortunately, that’s because most of it found its way to me…
I did a single plank this a.m. and it was a shock to the system. It will be a long, slow, snowy hill this morning but lie Sysiphus, I have this stone to roll
iDad- have you seen the movie Wild? I thought of you and some of your hikes! It’s a terrific movie.
Momannoyed, maybe your guest would like to cook! Mr. Sabaray has been on vacation for several weeks. I am ready for him to return to work.
I’ve had one day off yet I am the one doing the dog walking, the cleaning, the meal prep…you get the idea. Grumble.
Back to the gym for me this morning. Just under 4.5 miles of my run/walk thing. Started listening to “Serial” podcasts, which were great – completely took my mind off what I was doing and the time just flew by. I’m usually “late to the party,” so assume many of you have already listened?
I made much less this year in terms of Christmas goodies, so there’s not much left. SIL made (and distributed) fudge, but I’m not a fan of what she mixed in, so haven’t been eating it. H needs to get back to healthier eating, too, so we may be dumping whatever holiday food we have left.
Trainer workout today–part way through there was a medical emergency. A woman passed out in a step class. My trainer used to be an EMT (just learned that today) so they came and got her to stay with the woman until the ambulance came. Did a mini kettle-bell workout while she was gone–swings, halos, squats, windmills. Trainer said session was on her since it was so short–we finished on the TRX. After that I did 45 minutes on the Cybex machine. Lots of new folks in the gym today.
Congratulations on your 5K race Sabaray.
I got an Athleta GC from my kids–going to shop for yoga clothes this pm!!
I’m going to be a late comer to “Serial” too - high five to latecomers!!!
Sabaray, got a lot of that “feel like I’m doing all the work” thing going on at my house too (says abasket after her 4th trip to the attic with Christmas decorations without help…)
Changed it up this morning - took the dog for a walk and it felt cold - didn’t feel up to running outside, but didn’t have time then to go to the fitness center (takes SO much longer to do that whole ordeal when I’m starting from home). Decided to do 30 mins of cardio DVD with a little weights - after I did that I was all warmed up! The cold outside air sounded great! So I pulled on my running tights and went out for a short but fulfilling run - overall, a nice change up and a better blend of activities!
I am also ready for everybody to go back to his schedule. All I do is shop, cook, and clean up. Ugh.
Trainer day for me followed by a spin class. This one was taught by a real cyclist, so no jumps. My gym has both types: the real cyclists and the pure indoor cyclists. I am working diligently on the one legged squats. They look more like dips right now, one legged dips, but I can do more of them. I was able to run a little today.
How lucky to have a trainer who can save your life!
Pulled a pizzagirl-style double today. 3 miles outside in the peaceful, chilly gloom before work and then hot yoga at noon. Hot yoga is really hard for me right now. I think this studio keeps the room too hot. It’s 105 degrees. People were having to lie down a lot. I only had to lie down once, but it was a tough class. It is also a very long lunch “hour” for me, between getting over there, changing, doing the class, quick shower, trying to stop sweating enough to get dressed again, grabbing something to eat… I’m shooting for at least once a week and trying to jump start it a little until I adjust to it again, but it’s not going to be a regular noon thing. It’s a terrific workout, but 105 degrees is rough.
Tweaked my knee while doing a little treadmill running or knee raises. Not sure exactly how, but it’s the knee that had meniscus repair. On the one hand, it feels less stable, but on the other hand, it locked up on me when extended backwards and now it doesn’t. Who knows. Will try my post-op brace for a few days and see if that helps. My bigger issue is that my neck and shoulders are a mess and I’m having numb and tingling fingers, so I can’t ignore it any longer. Am tired of needing so many doctors!
Back on the wagon. I have to re-earn a couple 5 lb parties.
Hope your knee is ok CountingDown!
Yikes CountingDown! Take good care of that knee.
Went for a short run in the gym. 3.6 miles - only had 30 min before the sunset, which was hopeless. It was pouring and windy on the beach, and whiny Mr wanted me to keep him company while he pedaled his stationary bike. I love this hotel’s gym! Lots of machines, and they are kept in perfect working condition.
CD- heal up fast!
It was raining a little this morning but 54 degrees. Forecast was for heavy rain, but it wasn’t here yet so I went outside. I figured the more miles I did outside, the fewer I would have to do on the dreadmill. Got rained on a little, but got the entire 5.1 done. I even challenged myself with a new neighborhood with some big hills that I normally avoid. Adjusting to hot yoga is not helping my pace, but that’s OK. Forecast is for single digit temps later this coming week. Lovely.
Got the phone call last night that you never want to receive: “Your daughter has been in a car accident.” D2 tried to make a light not even a mile from home, didn’t make it, and t-boned another car. Both she and the other driver were very emotionally shaken up, but both are ok. No working out for me today, we will spend it dealing with insurance issues and finding out what kind of damage to D2’s car was actually sustained. We got her out of her little jeep last year and put her into a Tahoe, which probably protected her. The car she hit had side airbags THANK GOD. I’ve worked trauma ICU and t-bone accidents are the worst kind other than head on collisions at high speeds.
Just counting our blessings that it wasn’t worse. I’ve had several conversations with D2 about driving too fast. Maybe this incident will sink in. She cried and cried last night at the thought that she could have hurt that woman.
So sorry, Nrdsb4! So thankful it wasn’t worse.
Yes, thank God no one was hurt. Good luck to you handling the related issues.
Count your blessings that things weren’t worse Nrdsb4 - hope today helps your daughter heal emotionally.
Glad to hear that things are relatively under control and that there were no serious injuries, Nrdsb4. That’s a call that makes every parent shudder.
Oh no! Keeping fingers crossed that no future injury claims will pop up.
^^^^Yeah, I’ve thought of that.
That gives me chills. SO glad she is ok as is the other person. So far…
