Trainer workout and 3 mile walk outside–it was beautiful and sunny, but cold (23 degrees).

Can’t decide whether to do a new wattage ride tonight or out together a new spinning bike ride utilizing the tools for ride design I picked up at the certification course. Oh the decisions that must be made!

MOWC, shoe color angst? C’mon, we all know we’re into this for the fashion statement!

To a very cold basement (it’s 8 degrees outside) for kettlebell circuits. Nice workout. I tried something new for workout music. Who needs more cowbell when you can have bagpipes!

Oh, MNK, the colors of the shoes matter! I absolutely had to have some purple amd yellow shoes as well as red and black!

MOfWC, thanks for the heads up on he Launch. Currently I’m using the Huakas as my treadmill shoes, but will soon move them to my outdoor shoe rack.

IDad- Have you been on your Airdyne lately?

Seriously love my dark purple and pink Hoka’s. (yes color does matter). I did 4 miles today on treadmill watching netflix and keeping up with the beginners 1/2 marathon schedule. I really should try music as an alternative- maybe this weekend.

No. I’ve been avoiding the Airdyne like the plague. I’ll pencil in a ride later this week as there is no such thing as being chilly on that thing!

2 city miles (hill speed walking) and 3.6 miles treadmill running. Phew.

Idad, I’m also avoiding the airdyne these days…I blame the year of the sheep energy  somehow the airdyne was easier to face during year of the horse. Sheep just huddle to stay warm…

Brutally subzero on the hill yesterday but glad I didn’t skip it because it made the long day that followed much better.

No, believe me, I DO understand that the color of the shoes matters. I’m not a runner, but every time I choose what clothing to wear for my outdoor rides, it is imperative, right down to my socks, that I am properly color coordinated. I choose the colors of my bike helmets to make sure they coordinate well with all of my bikes and clothing kits. Making a fashion statement is a must! (Says the person who used to call cycling clothing clown outfits. )

This weather is stupid. Annoying glaze of snow - just enough to make things slippery.

Pilates this morning followed by 3 and change on the treadmill. I’m ready for spring and it’s only January!

Hmmm…not sure what kind of fashion statement I’m making when running. I figure it’s a win when I leave the house dressed and nothing is inside out.

Bike helmets could bring a whole new element into the fashionista world!!!

When I first started running I bought two inexpensive tank tops to use because I had no idea if I’d like it or not and didn’t want to devote much in the way of $ to an activity I wasn’t sure I’d continue. I would have bought only one, but they really were inexpensive and I liked the colors. The tops were functional, cheery, and held up well. Now that I know I make use of workout clothing, I spend more on it. I still look back fondly on those two tops because I know they worked fine, but I’ve retired them. Something to be aware of for anyone entering a race for the first time: They usually take pictures. Others may see those pictures. Unless you’re highly photogenic, enter races dressed to the nines, and glisten (aka sweat) in a most attractive manner, be prepared to handle this with humor…

Well, sweat glisten is a GIVEN for me…

I’m in the market for a new pair of running shoes and my mind is set on a pair of grey with a pop of color - I DEFINITELY am choosy about the looks of any shoe I get.

I really needed the fresh air of an outside run this morning, but when I woke up there were reports of lots of slick patches on the roads, and I really need to avoid falls. So- back downstairs. To my surprise, the news/weather was all about the light SNOW we had that was making roads a mess with some wrecks. As the sun came up and I could see outside my basement windows, I saw actual SNOW (well, a dusting) on the ground. I would have enjoyed running in it, but, again, I’m supposed to avoid falling. So- 3.2 on the treadmill and I’m going to try to get to hot yoga at noon.

I’m not that picky about shoe colors- I like bright, for the most part. For some reason I just really don’t like those maroon Launches. I hate black or grey running shoes unless the grey has a lot of accents. I generally try to, more or less, match my outfit, but don’t worry about the shoes matching. For the treadmill in my basement, anything goes. I usually start with a soft cotton t-shirt in this weather (55 degrees in the basement) and ditch it after a mile so I’m just in the sports bra and shorts.

5.11 miles run/walk this morning. I can’t believe how distracting Serial is – really takes my mind off what I’m doing. While I no longer feel as if I’m going to collapse on the spot when I run, I’m still waiting for the “runner’s high.”

Re: wardrobe & shoes – I definitely go for shoes that feel good on my feet and don’t break the bank. If the model I pick comes in multiple colors, that’s a bonus. I always wear CW-X Stabilyx capris because of the built in knee support – either boring black, or slightly less boring black with some bright accents. So, the one place I can go for a pop of color is my top. I’ve been picking up some good deals at TJ Maxx and Kohl’s.

Oh, and “glistening” does not apply to me at all; I sweat, period.

Learn something new everyday on this thread - didn’t know about CW-X Stabilyx capris! CBB, do you have a place you usually purchase them from (online or otherwise?)???

abasket – definitely online; can find them for less than suggested retail. They’re a little pricey, but last a really long time. Here’s a link to the pair I purchased most recently on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/CW-X-Conditioning-Womens-Stabilyx-Rainbow/dp/B008R6I9BG/ref=sr_1_3?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1421250346&sr=1-3&keywords=cw-x+stabilyx

Pantone says the color of the year is Marsala. Will the exercise clothing makers follow the trend? I doubt that - it is too tame for the purpose. I think it is a better choice for business clothes - it can hide wine stains from those business dinners.

Down 2 pounds from my pre-vacation weight! I hope it is for real. 2 more, and I will be in running shape.

Lunchtime spin class and that will have to do now for a couple of days - hitting the road with D2 for a college “visit” but staying at D1’s and I believe they have NO snow so might be able to take advantage of a run or two in her neighborhood!
