Can I just say how nice it is to finally be outside? Thought it was going to be a rainy morning, but we had no rain to speak of and got 10 nice hilly miles in. Really warm by the end, however.

Good for you! Same here- damp but no rain. 4.6 done. Fresh air!

That’s what my neighbor did. Packed up her cat (and husband, I think) and took off to a hotel.

It got down to 52 degrees in my computer room last night. That’s the coldest place, due to the nature of the walls they took out. Cold outside air is getting in and the fans are blowing it around. I’ve got it up to 60 now (turned the fans off in there for a bit this morning to get the temp up!)

Sleeping wasn’t too bad.

I’m putting camping/hiking gear to good use. The worst of it is the breeze. A room can feel fine at 65 degrees, but throw in a noticeable breeze and it feels like an iceberg. So, I’ve broken out the Patagonia Houdini ultra light wind jacket and pants as a top layer over fleece tights and hoodie. Voila, now I don’t feel the breeze! Plus, it helps that it just got up to 32 degrees outside! I slept in a Capilene 4 hoody buried under a very heavy down comforter!

I just read back a few pages to see about your flooding, idad. From ice dams on the roof? What an insult to the winter snow you’ve had to contend with. Here’s to getting the damage repaired and the contractors shipped out ASAP. And if you do decide to pack up and drive to Florida, send a note! It was 91 the other day.

I got a few treadmill and weight workouts in this week at the gym with my spring breaker, and filled in the other days with walking outside. We had family visiting from the north, and they had a hard time tolerating the heat–very unwilling walking partners. Yesterday I ran 2/3 of a 5K run on the treadmill. In the interest of preserving my ankle/foot, a friend has suggested continuing on with the Galloway method of run/walk. I will probably do this to get the overall run/walk distance (on a long workout day) back up to 10K.

Wow. Gotta give it to these Serv Pro guys. They are up on the two story roof in the pouring rain (33 degrees) breaking the ice dams off with sledge hammers. Big 3 foot chunks of solid ice are crashing to the ground. They finally had it with going back into units and having to remove more sections of walls.

These guys are all up from Oklahoma. They can’t believe this weather.

Take that, torn up kitchen. I’ve got Thick Cut Pork Chops Pizzaiola Style cooking in the oven. Like Osso Bucco, but made with inch thick bone in pork chops, simmered in a tomato wine sauce until they are fall off the bone tender. Seemed like the perfect recipe for a day of freezing rain with workmen busting chunks off ice off the roof!

Nothing stops iDad! Sounds really good.

Hey, idad, if we combine my ovenless kitchen with your torn up one, we’ll have one fully operational one! Im glad to hear that at least you can eat well, despite the clusteя&)&$ mess! Please give the kitties some extra kibble!

Going for a walk with Mr. Anyone wanna bet how quickly he will begin to complain that his new shoes are wrecking his toes?!

Doing a “rehearsal” ride today of the Hell of Hunterdon Ride which is scheduled for next Sunday. Should be very interesting. As if the route itself isn’t tough enough, there are supposed to be 20 mph winds. Hope they’re all blowing at my back! I am so unprepared for this. Did a 1 1/2 hr indoor ride Friday night at my FTP limits with a lot of low cadence work (i.e. heavy resistance) both in and out of the saddle to simulate climbing. When I climbed into bed Friday night, I suddenly developed overwhelming hamstring cramping that lasted about 30 minutes. I’m so screwed! Lol

Ouch MichaelNKat. It’s amazing what we do to ourselves in the name of fun!

A wimpy run on the dreadmill in the hotel gym. The girl waiting for her turn on the machine was breathing down my neck, so I only had 30+5 minutes. Of course, then she stepped on the belt with her paperback and started walking at 2 mph.

I made a note to myself to wake up earlier tomorrow!

MNK - good luck!! Don’t kill yourself preparing for the adventure!

Ran a 5k race, complete with leprechaun head adornment, and then came home and did upper body weights & planks. The race was fun, I did not let Leprechaun Elvis beat me. I don’t know my official time yet, but my garmin says I did a 9:23 pace, which is good for me these days!

On my phone so this will be short. Did my St. Pats day run today. 8k followed by a 5k. My quads were screaming during the 5k but I got through it. Slowly lol.

Ouch, MnK!

Nice “green” runs, leprechaun blankmind and St. Patty deb922!

Did 3 miles walking outside and 3.7 miles running on treadmill (with some walking breaks). And weights. It felt good.

Way to go racers!

8 mile day today divided into 2 4 mile runs. 46 degrees and nice this am and 70 and sunny just now.

Yeah, way to go racers!

Didn’t “race” but ran! I’m convinced 50’s are the perfect weather to run in.

The good news – I walked a lot on Friday, like 10+ miles. The bad news – I did nothing on Saturday, and then went to a Pi party and ate a lot of pie. There were 20+ pies – sweet and savory – and I dug in. Since that will only happen once a century, I decided to enjoy!

Well, we had to cut the ride shorter than expected. What was supposed to be a 48 degree day was a 36 degree day, the winds were more like 30 mph and the roads, oh my, were so rutted, cracked and filled with potholes that we were all waiting for our bikes to fall apart. It was still great to be outside and good to ride parts of the route. The steepest hill we went up was a 13% grade with lots of 8-10%ers in between. A good representative sample of what to expect next Saturday. Now if only the weather gods cooperate :).

That sounds awful, Michael. I hope it’s better next weekend.

Changed to avatar to my medals from today and the Bloody Mary that I enjoyed afterwards. If it is sideways, I’m too tired to change it.

Btw, the Bloody Mary was great. I needed the salt
