Friday cardio class as the gym. I’ ve had a true Friday the 13th - nothing critical, but lots of silly mishaps - so I appreciated the decompressing time!

I ran 6.2 miles last night - it was wonderful to run in the sunshine and 56 degree temps. Yay! Hoping to get a long run in tomorrow if the rain lets up. Time to get serious about training for the half marathon at the beginning of May.

Abasket-so sorry about your Friday the 13th mishaps! I hope tomorrow’s Pi day is better for you. They are celebrating it early here at work today with about 15 different pies in the office. So far I have successfully abstained.

iDad-wow, that sounds like a pretty major renovation going on at your place. How long is expected to take?

@C3Baker, Pi Day is EXACTLY one of my mishaps this morning! I promised my math teacher son that I would bake a couple of pies for him last night to take to his class. My alarm did not go off this morning and during my 30 second shower I remembered that I TOTALLY forgot to bake the pies! Had 45 mins to get them ready - while the oven was warming I threw them in the microwave to partially dethaw, turned up the heat on the oven and son did manage to leave with two hopefully COOKED pies!!!

For anyone who is interested, registration for the Marine Corps Marathon lottery opened up today. What the heck? I registered. I need a goal.

abasket, hope the pies turned out fine!

Sabaray - yay!!!

Sabaray- My daughter loved Marine Corps! It can be a little difficult logistically, and there is a lot of walking to the start and after the finish, but it is really well organized. I ran it many years ago (maybe 1983) but it’s a different animal now! It is an uphill finish and a crowded course, so be prepared!

Figured I might as well go for it - I’ll know on the 25th if I’m in or not, so if I’m not I still have time to register for another fall marathon. Before I never wanted to race, but now that I have it’s hard to keep running without a race to look ahead to. Cross your fingers that I get in!

Just when I thought it couldn’t get any worse. They just set up 9 industrial blower fans and two massive dehumidifiers that are now running at about 100 decibels and creating a steady breeze throughout the already cold condo. Where’s my Lubriderm.Sheesh. I run a humidifier 24/7 in the winter just to get it up to 30% relative humidity in here. The guys say this will bring it down to 8%. Good lord.

I’ve got earplugs in and will wear the for the duration (three to five days?).

This is terrible. Even one of those fans is too loud for me. Poor cats! I can’t imagine how stressed they are.

If you don’t get in, think about Thunder Road on Nov 14 in Charlotte. I’m running the half. It’s a meet-up for our RunningAhead women’s running group. There’s a marathon and half.

Well, I try to look on the bright side. The kitchen, living room, and my computer/office room only have two industrial fans each running on high. That’s better than my bedroom – four fans.

I’m freezing cold. With bare stud walls and insulation removed, it’s already drafty with temps around freezing. But, all these fans are kicking up a serious breeze.

Cats are up and around. I’ve gone to a down jacket, fleece hoody, and fleece gloves. It’s 60 degrees in here, but with a cold north wind blowing through the rafters!

Oh, and the stove is now in front of the sink, so I have to reach around it to wash dishes. I may just get in the car and drive to Florida or something.

interesteddad, have you checked to see if your insurance will pay for a hotel during the renovations?

I haven’t yet. This latest development came out of the blue at 5 pm., I had no idea that this was going to turn into the ServPro version of flood lights and blaring rock n’ roll to break the detainees at GITMO. The thought has crossed my mind to pack up for a hotel, but that has its own set of aggravations. Like eating bad restaurant food, that I really don’t want to eat, for every meal. The sleeping part will be the least of my aggregation. I have great earplugs. And down comforters and sleeping bags mean that it will be the only time I’m not cold!

My neighbor has packed up and moved, but she has nothing left in her kitchen and floor ripped up everywhere. Before the invasion of the industrial fans, I was thinking that it really was pretty minimal disruption once the demolition crews were gone.

I did turn the fans off in the kitchen while I cooked dinner. Every room… there’s no escape!

Having experienced the sound of only one fan I cannot imagine 9 of them going at once. Miserable!

Oh Idad, sounds terrible!

IDad, we all knew you were a fitness beast with the stamina and endurance to handle the workouts and hikes that you do but the resilience and endurance you are demonstrating in this situation eclipses that! The degree of aplomb with which you are handling the disruption of your home and life is a testimonial to your fortitude. How many more weeks do you think it will be until the remediation and reconstruction is completed?

idad, that sounds awful. I hope they get it finished quickly, that’s no way to live!

Idad never mind the hotel…get insurance to send you on a short cruise where you can eat Filet Mignon, climb a wall, swim laps and hang out in the gym!

He needs to take the cats with him, though! I would be at a hotel- cats and all. Too cold, too noisy!
