I’m having Wicked envy. I did get in a good run today though. Due to my waiting until later in the day I also got soaked, lol.
MOWC, ah, Sanabel and Cativa, some of the most beautiful flatlands riding. Enjoy it there!
IDad, yeah, the North Face site is not the most informative. The jacket I have has Gore-Tex or some similar fabric for the shell and the liner is some type of new synthetic with a small degree of loft. It has a snow “cummerbund” and vent zippers under the arms. All I know is that it is ridiculously warm for its diminimus bulk.
Deborah, visiting D in NYC we had to go to a musical. Only been to NYC years ago and got to see one then too. Wicked was really good. Walking up and subway steps yesterday a zillion times. I think New Yorkers are in really good shape if they use the subway .
We saw Wicked in San Francisco eons ago. It was great! Glad you made it!
Re: city dwellers being in good shape. I can believe that! When we were visiting Paris, I think we walked at least 5 miles a day. I commute to the city from my suburb, but then I have to walk to and between sites. it is faster than taking the bus, and so much cheaper than driving. All this walking adds up!
Eight miles this morning to start the week off. Have a great day, all!
Cardio + weights this morning. It should have been a running day, but since I’d very much like to have no more bloody socks, I’m holding off to give things a chance to heal up. Very cold and windy here both yesterday and today. Not sure spring is EVER going to make it.
Today’s workout: a hour of Pilates reformer class and then a walk outside (despite the cold temperature, it was beautiful and sunny). Walked for an hour and did a little under 4 miles (3.8).
Deb–I loved Wicked too; I saw it ages ago in NYC with the original cast (Idina Menzel, Kristen Chenowith, and Joel Grey). I have the soundtrack on my iPod.
Since it’s COLD and lightly snowing outside (MAD face!) I went to the gym. Wasn’t in the mood for it, but got on that dang treadmill and trekked out a run. Now it’s done. Yeah!
That must have been fabulous, Bromfield.
Sabaray, glad to see you’re still going strong. There’s a 5K later in the summer calling my name, and I need to get registered for it.
My recent exercise highlight was bringing in the stability ball last night and putting it to use for the first time in months. Happy to see I was still up to the task. Yay!
abasket, I’m sure it will be 100 degrees soon and humid…then winter will seem a distant memory!
45 challenging minutes of TRX tonight - really glad I am taking the class. Worked really hard! I have a Pilates session scheduled for Thursday to evaluate where I am - then I can sign up for regular classes. Should be a better fit for me.
Thanks Deborah - crossing my fingers that Wednesday will be my lucky day! I really want to run the MCM and will find out then. Running a half next month, then I’ll need to find something else to run!
Kudos to you that find your motivation from official races!!! Whatever works for you!!!
4.3 humid miles this morning and lots of walking and shopping in Naples. The flatness is nice for a change but I think it would get old.
My workout today was a slow beach run in thicker, slushier sand than I’m accustomed to dealing with, along a very high tide line. Maybe 2.5 miles with some walking breaks, and I can feel it in my ankles. The reward, however, was half of a chocolate cannoli after lunch. I strolled a few miles, stooping often for shell picking, this afternoon.
We saw Wicked when the show traveled a couple years ago and enjoyed it much! It has lots of appeal for a wide audience–so fun.
PlantMom, good on you for the beach run, and that was nice of you to share the chocolate cannoli. I would have stabbed somebody with a fork who tried to take half of mine!
Just the usual stretching, leg lifts, & dumbbells here. I made a pretty good beef/beet borscht for dinner. DH didn’t notice that we didn’t have bread or other pile of carbs.
Hi! I am new to this thread. I do a variety of exercises: walks, short runs, yoga, gym classes, machines at the gym. Do any of you meditate?
BTW, my family & I saw Wicked several years ago. Loved it!
Welcome, wedgedrive! Glad to have you. I don’t mediatate currently. I try to make an effort to calm my mind at various times during the day, though. It doesn’t always work.
I like to think I meditate in the hottub…but in actual fact, I am notorious in local meditation groups for being a “sleeper.”
My meditation leader studies in workshops with Deepak Chopra. So she presented him with the phenom of me and my tendency no matter what the exercise to ultimately nod off’ and what she can do to break through this with me.
His response to her was not especially mystical: “Tell her to get more sleep” he said
We got a giggle out of that one.
My personal theory is that I already spend a lot of waking hours zoned out, so deliberate efforts to meditate just take me right down to theta
Welcome Wedgedrive! Looks like you’ve got “active” down pat!
Not a meditator. The only “quiet” activity I seem to do good at and that relaxes me is reading before I go to bed.
Sabaray, did you make it? Today’s the day for MCM lottery, right?
Moving from college admissions to marathon admissions! CC covers it all!
Not until tomorrow, deb! Keep those fingers and toes crossed!
