Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Does rolling out sugar cookies count as an upper body workout? Sure feels that way! Long work day followed by the need to roll and cut out 4 dozen initial cookies for my friend’s future DIL’s shower. No actual cardio, but back at it tomorrow. Icing cookies doesn’t burn nearly enough calories!

As long as you don’t eat any of the cookies (or the dough ), this cookie making process is an excellent exercise - exercise of willpower!

I’ll remember that BB!

Look at that C3Baker Mom taking the long leg for the family!!!

CBB - we always think of our ?'s for the doc AFTER we leave. Likely there is a simple explanation, but you are allowed as a patient to make a call to the office and ask for a minute or two on the phone with the doc or nurse to ask more about what kinds of things the doc might be looking for - try not to stress yourself out needlessly - the info is about YOU - you can ask for more detail!

First humid run of the year - not too warm though so it felt pretty darn good.

The tests are not 100% accurate or reliable. I wouldn’t worry at all unless the second test matches the result of the first one.

Nice day in NH. 65 and sunny. The snow on the cut-through to the quiet neighborhood streets has melted, so I sauntered out for my first time on my standard 5k hilly walking route. No walk/jog today, just walked it at pretty good clip up and down the neighborhood hills. Got my heart rate up a little bit.

Completely over dressed in long running pants and a long sleeve t shirt.

I did my Pilates reformer class today–I’m doing two classes a week for the next few weeks to make up for classes I missed. Two classes makes a difference. Later in the day, a friend called and we went on a walk on the conservation trail near my home.

CBBB, when I had my shingles shot a few weeks ago, I was cautioned that it often caused a reaction similar to cellulitis Sure enough, it was red, lumpy and hot for a few days and the inflammation very gradually decreased.

CBBB, I know it’s hard not to worry about unusual blood work. Here’s hoping it was a fluke.

Rest day today. Another good 6 miles yesterday. First mile (uphill start) was the slowest but then the rest were right around 10. Once again a small group of us pushed ahead to get it done and the comment was made by another runner that at times it felt like we dawdled. So I know I’m not alone!

Bromfield, I feel like I get more of a workout from Pilates than from anything else. It’s a great workout with a lot of variety that I really enjoy. I can see and feel my core getting stronger!

Week 2 complete! I’m finding that if my schedule permits, getting up and out to exercise early really works best for me. I am so amazed by all of you - I’ve followed this thread since its inception and find so much inspiration here. Thanks all! Now, off to ice those cookies just calling to me on the counter - I’ll be better able to resist once they’re iced…the sugar doesn’t appeal to me.

Great job runnersmom! Time of day is really an individual thing. I do better later in the day - but in the summer months, it can be a great advantage to get er done early!

4.86 miles of my run/walk on the treadmill this morning – it’s raining here. Trying not to worry about the blood results – I always figure I’d know if something was really wrong with me.

great lakes mom – how many days is “a few?” Today is day 3 and I’m not really seeing any improvements.

CBBB- hoping for some good results and improvement!

I’ve struggled this week- houseguests, rain and a lot of running around town (not to mention the day job which is just insane a lot of the time). I’m trying to hit 30 miles for the week, but it might be tough. Our company 5K, which I was counting on Wednesday afternoon for my miles, got cancelled due to supposed thunder storms (forecast at the time we had to make the decision), and, of course, at race time (4pm) it was clear!

3.2 miles this morning. Starting to see some bunnies out in the morning, which is my “spirit” sign. I also saw a bunch of cows and a red fox this morning. All this just in my neighborhood.

The happypuppies shorts arrived and they are going to be perfect for under the Nuu-Muu dresses. If anyone wants to try the capris, I can vouch for the quality and the big pockets on the legs are great.

Did my 25 minute run today for Week 7 of C25K & then ran an extra 2 minutes just because. Closing in on that 3 mile mark! @runnersmom - I just switched from running after work to running in the AM & am enjoying it much more. I am a morning person, so this is when I feel energetic!

My D sent me a gift certificate to road id, very nice of her! I’m wondering what I should put on it? If you have one do you have all your personal info on it or did you purchase the interactive id? Thanks

My family has lots of Road ID expertise. I’m at work, so I don’t have mine to look at, but I like the stretchy rubber bands the best (like the old Livestrong yellow bands). The Small is tiny- like for a child. I am small-boned and wear a medium. The problem with the Velcro bands is that they can get really smelly, plus they can snag on your expensive capris and tanks!

I have my name, either full DOB or maybe month/year next to my name.
I think I have address, but you have to abbreviate to fit all this stuff.
Emergency contact like "Bob (H) 888-934-2222) and hope that number doesn’t change! If you have any medical issues or allergies, find a way to put that on even if you have to leave off something else.

Thanks MOWC. I’ll ask my D also. You would think it would be easy to figure this out, but it really isn’t lol!

Hot yoga today followed by a 2 mile walk. Loved getting outside for the walk.

CBB–can you call your primary care doc and ask about the blood work results that concern you.

Broke ground in my spot at the community garden today - so my exercise was my happy dance that spring and gardening season is here!!!

CCBBB, the swelling took a few days to develop, and it took some time to go down. A week maybe? We’re still in long sleeves here till today, so after initially being a bothered and surprised I tended to ignore it.

Need to visit this thread more for all of your inspiring exercise. So hoping to bike today, but it was just a few miles to meet friends. Gardening time is really here, with the weather for it! Good core strength exercise.
