MomWC, my latest animal totem seems to be Wild Turkey… (The animal, not the bourbon). I have one stalking me along the back fence, halfway up the hill, as I write. I think he’s mocking that I didn’t do my hill this week. Seriously.

Since wild turkey medicine is “abundance” I suppose this means I should beware my lax habits of late

Am feeling like a human again though, and have sweat lodge today, so I’ll get some work in for sure

Nice little 5k brisk hilly walk today. It was a few degrees warmer than the other day, so I wore shorts and t-shirt for the first time in 2015. Little chilly in the wind, but not bad. Broke into a few little jogging intervals after I was done with the uphill outgoing leg.

8.4 miles. Streak is now at 6 months. Nice day, but the rain is coming back later.

3.2 miles run. Busy weekend so got it in. Yea

I just got a (much needed) haircut. Afraid that running will ruin my perfectly styled hair. B-) So the trail visit is postponed until tomorrow. Off to exercise my gardening muscles!

8.5 miles of hills this morning. Beautiful day here. Tons of pollen!

Today is a day I wish I had some type of fitness device on me that would let me know that the 6 hours I just spend outside scrubbing outdoor furniture, moving pot after pot out of the gardening shed, scrubbing the deck and moving furniture, etc. was good exercise and worthy of burning a few calories. I know I definitely got an arm workout with the scrubbing! A pleasure to be out in the weather and get some of these tasks done.

But have to admit, sometimes I don’t feel this outside work “counts”. I’m not overly tired and I feel like I could still go run 30 minutes or so, but it seems that taking a family walk might be the better and GOOD choice to make.

Hi all - coming back in! Had a dreadful 1Q with some very strong personal and professional stressful situations that caused me to stress-eat and miss workouts. Did gain some weight but am happy to report I just went back to WW and have lost 5 pounds since last time I was there, though I bet some is muscle.

The place where I take pilates suddenly closed. The owners sold it to the car dealership across the street that needed more space. My instructor found a job at another studio so I’m following her there, but to be honest I don’t like it as much. Our studio was nice, quiet, wood and there were 2 private clients at a time. This place is one big room with lots of people doing all kinds of training at once, so louder, noisier, more raucous music, etc. but my loyalty is to her so I wouldn’t feel right trying to find a new place.

Similarly, my strength training guy’s schedule changed, and I’ve decided I just can’t do 5:30 am workouts any more. It’s not fair to him for me to cancel!

Want to restart C to 5k at some point too.

An OrangeTheory is opening near my house - they are fun, but the closest one to me was about 25 min away and this is 5 min away.

So impressed by everyone’s successes!!

Glad to have you back. We’ve had others here who have left studios or teachers for different reasons and felt disloyal or uncomfortable, so maybe they will weigh in and you might decide to look for a studio that’s a better fit.

I’ve had house guests all week and today I have to drive to Birmingham and back (3 hours each way) which isn’t fun. It’s pouring rain, so I got in 3.1 on the treadmill for a 30.5 mile week. Lots of food and alcohol over the last 2 weeks.

Glad to see you back PG - honestly, we all need to share the real life setbacks as well as the successes - because I’m guessing most of us have them - we can also teach/motivate each other to “get back on the horse” so to speak!

Sabaray we having class/instructor issues which I think she took the dive and resolved - maybe she will weigh in.

For those of you who are hikers, just happened upon this deal on LLBean this morning while looking for something else - not sure how effective this type of item really is for bug protection but the price was pretty great (the color, ok) so thought I’d offer it up since there appears to be many sizes left: http://www.llbean.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/CategoryDisplay?&categoryId=89028&feat=510312-ecmdotd

Had to bail on the Lu Lavka Wyco 103 mile torture fest I was supposed to ride today. For the last 2 weeks, when doing high intensity rides of over 50 miles, at night I would suddenly develop severe, paralyzing adductor cramping while laying in bed. The first time it happened, I had only consumed 1 1/2 water bottles on the ride. The second time, I had consumed a fair quantity of alcohol the night before :). I suspect it’s a combination of early season fitness levels, ride nutrition/electrolytes and hydration. But until I figure it out and get in several long intense rides without any cramping, I’m hesitant to do long intense rides that require me to drive 2 1/2 hours to get home! I’m a bit disappointed but, oh well, the silver lining is that I get to ride today with friends from my favorite women’s race team. It will be a far more civilized experience than the Lu Lack Wyco with the 20 something year old males from my local bike shop ;).

The nice thing is that weather is finally decent - got in a 2 hour bike ride with H on Fri and again on Sat!

Michael, sounds like you made the right decision.

Glad to see you back, Pizzagirl. As others have mentioned, I made a switch to a new Pilates studio and instructor and am so glad that I did. I already feel more valued as a client and am learning and doing so much more. Change is uncomfortable, but it can be good. I am doing TRX at another studio with a trainer I really like but the times and location are not that convenient so probably won’t be continuing with that class, switching instead to the Pilates studio. Trying to figure out how to fit in all the “fun” things I want to do with the running I need to do!

Rain headed this way - up to 2 inches! April showers and all that, but come on…

Wow. I did 1 and 1/2 hours a few days ago, and was pretty tired for the rest of the day. Ended up going to bed at 9:00 pm and slept hard.

I try to keep a pretty fast cadence for the entire time because I read that it’s better to do that than to go slow with too much resistance. Maybe someday I will be fit enough for a 2 hour ride!

My weekend has been occupied with houseguests visiting to celebrate a special birthday, so no “real” exercise to speak of yet. We’re heading out soon so I can buy new running shoes and perhaps I’ll get something in later. What I’ve learned this time around, though, is that it’s ok. I’ll be back to my C25K schedule tomorrow and all will be fine. I think that’s the biggest takeaway I’ve embraced at this point in my life. If I can have a weekend like this and not say the heck with it all, but get back on the horse on Monday, I know I’ll be able to keep moving forward.

My own personal 5K in the W-I-N-D!!!

A run yesterday and a walk today. A few things keeping me busy lately so I haven’t been posting. Hope everyone’s well!

Waving hi to DebT!

I’m taking advantage of the first stretch of nice weather. Another sunny (chilly) 5K hillly walk. Rain rolls in for the next few days.

MKAT:

I’m betting on too much too soon with the cramping. I had a couple of bouts of it after particularly long, steep hikes last fall. Got out of the car and almost had to go to my hands and knees to get in the house.
