I’ll take some of that extra garlic.

3 miles!!! 31:43. Get to spend the rest of the day on a bit of a high…

Oh no, sabaray. I bet the race will go fine, but you won’t feel good on Sunday.

Ran on the beach here on Amelia Island this morning. Barely had time for 4 miles between when it was light enough to go out and when I had to be at breakfast. I ran straight into a north wind, which I didn’t like. I got my shoes wet hopping over water flowing back to sea. The reward was the most incredible sunrise I have ever seen. It was just magnificent. It was all worth it. We have a bike ride activity this afternoon. My presentation is over, so I can relax.

Sounds heavenly MOWC. Even the wet feet.

WooHoo Gertrude! That’s a great time for the C25K stage - wow! Make yourself a nice cool drink to enjoy the rest of the day!!

Sabaray, I missed your words about not feeling well. Maybe you need to take some of DebT’s extra garlic and hope for some overnight improvement. I think you are going to be pumped enough that when you get on the pavement the cold will be forgotten till the race is over. Just get out there and do what you can - listen to your body.

Wow, Gertrude! That is a GREAT 3 mile run!

Sabaray, hang in there and listen to what your body is going to tell you. If you don’t feel well, take it easy. (Says pansy BB who herself is coming down with a cold at a very unfortunate time!)

MOfWC, what a great way to start your day. Some sunrises are so gorgeous I would not mind to get completely soaked to see them…

Thanks everyone. I felt really good and strong today, unlike Wednesday when I actually ran for a longer period of time, but covered a shorter distance. My legs were sore that day from a hike the day before with some steep climbs. Guess those rest days are key!!

Everybody doing so great, except for sabaray’s cold. Jealous of that 3 miles Gertrude!

My 10k is in one month, eek! 5 miles today, still suffering with calf pain and shin splints. I’ll get through this 10k but had hoped to train harder to run faster. Not sure that’s going to happen. But there will be another day, another race.

Stopped by lululemon earlier and picked up a pair of wonder under’s for $39 in the mystic jungle, which is a nice name for camo. My good buy in the exercise wear category. Got a tank also which was not in the good buy category. I was looking for a new pair of running shorts. I really liked the groovy run shorts but they don’t make them anymore. The speed shorts are so short! Been looking for a nice pair of shorts with a longer inseam. Most stuff I am trying on has huge legs which don’t look great on me.

@sabaray, good luck tomorrow. Rest as much as possible today, and get your fluids in!

Deb- check out Oiselle Roga shorts. They have several lengths. I think the regular Roga would be equivalent to Groovy Run.

Gertrude- you are doing great. I love your name. My favorite great aunt’s name- and the name of our travel trailer.

Really low energy this week – jet lag combined with chilly temperatures. I kicked myself out of the house to swim, but when I tried to do weights I just felt exhausted after just a few lifts.

I’ve been looking for shorts for awhile. They all seem so short, and lack pockets. Ten years ago, I bought about a dozen shorts from Walmart for $4.88/each, and while they’ve held up remarkably well I want something a little more fashionable. The Oiselle look promising, and there were a pair of Athleta’s that also looked good. It’s just tough going from less than $5/pair to $49/pair.

There’s a new running store a couple blocks from my house, and tomorrow a rep from Hoka will be there. I plan on being there – I’ve never met running shoe reps at stores before, so I’m curious about how that works.

Sabaray-good luck tomorrow! Sorry you are feeling lousy. I agree that you’ll make it through tomorrow just fine but I’ll bet you will down for the count on Sunday. Hopefully this will be short lived. Have a great race!

Gertrude-congratulations C25K graduate!

Deb922-sorry that you’re struggling with pain. My daughter has had shin splints several times and it seems just miserable. :frowning:

Tomorrow is my last long run before the half marathon next Saturday. I have been planning to run 10 miles, but I may cut it back to 8. I’m sore and my legs hurt, no point in making things worse. Plus, it is supposed to rain all day.

I own 4 pairs of these and they last and last through washings (I usually hang up to dry). Not hugely “cute” but they are exactly the right length for me - and a good weight. I wear them year around. Not much “storage” space in them though!

The LL Bean and the oiselle look nice. Would like to try something other than black. The oiselle has some colors and it looks like my lrs carries oiselle so I might to see what they have.

I have to say that it was hard to pay $50 for a pair of shorts. But they wear well and in the summer I will wear them every day so cost per wear is very low.

I might order a skirt sport skirt, they have fun colors and I know they are made well. I see 6pm has some for great prices.

I like those oiselle roga shorts. Some of the women I run with love the Athleta shorts with the built-in compression undershorts - I might try a pair of those. I just got one of the Lulu Pace Rival II skirts - in boring black- but I have a blue polka dot one already so I figured I’d better tone it down some. I could use some shirts - everyone tells me I buy my clothes too large but I am very self conscious.

Thanks for all the good wishes. Hopefully I won’t be any slower than our trial run, but who knows.

Sabaray, I say flaunt it if you got it. And girl you got it! ;).

Three miles plus run tonight - the 3 to celebrate Gertrude’s three and then a little extra just for me!

I need to stop dressing so warm when I head out. I think my mind can’t get past all those cold winter days we had. I was peeling off clothing 3 blocks from home! If it’s 60, I need to break out the shorts!

Sabaray, rest, eat, and drink plenty of water. Good luck!

sabaray, have fun tomorrow and good luck!

Speaking of garlic, I tried a very simple green bean recipe that was fantastic. I’m always looking for easy because fresh green beans are a staple for me. They keep well, etc.

Top and tail the green beans. Fill a large skillet with water and boil the green beans to taste (about 6 minutes seemed to work). Take green beans out with a slotted spoon and dump the water. Put the skillet back on the burner, add a ton of butter and a ton of minced garlic and the green beans. Toss over high heat for a minute or two, season with salt and pepper and voila!

Yum. They were good the second night nuked in the microwave, too.

Sendin sabaray the mojo for the run today!

Idad, I make and love those beans.
