Thanks, Abasket! 3 more weeks till graduation #2. Enough time to stock up on waterproof mascara!
Pizzagirl, what a wonderful month of celebrations. Congrats!
Pizzagirl, congrats to your daughter and her proud family! Moving your kid out of her dorm is indeed a good way to shake off a pound or two!
Michael, glad that you made it back in one piece. Heard on the news that John Kerry was airlifted to a hospital in Geneva - broken leg from a bad bike accident. Ouch!!! Made me worried about all CC bicyclists.
Finished my part of the charity walk today (5 miles). Rained off and on the whole way.
PG–Congrats to you and D. Moving kids out is a great way to get your 10K steps.
M&K–good luck on your Habitat ride.
Idad–nice hike video.
Congrats, Bromfield. That’s nice to have been a part of something for so long.
Congrats Bromfield. If the weather was as hot and muggy as here, that rain could be a welcomed relief.
The rain got down to a faint drizzle. 52 degrees. (2 days ago, 85). S went out and did 5 miles. Dang kid, made me feel guilty so I got out the ziplock bag for my phone (still haven’t got a new armband since I got the iPhone 6!) and got 3 in.
Way to be tough, abasket! It’s been gloomy and rainy all day today but I got my short run in and H got his bike ride in before it started. I’m not complaining, since we didn’t wash away like Texas did!
ndrbs- I saw the drone footage of White Rock Lake. Unbelievable!
@MomofWildChild, I heard that many of the jogging and biking trails were under water, so I haven’t even gone near WRL. I’ll have to look for that footage.

MOWC, I found that drone footage. Wow.
Wow… That’s a very scary picture. Hope the flood waters will recede soon.
Got my tomatoes out of the greenhouse and into the dirt! In the interim, went to the airport to pick up baby kiddo who is making a stop in Seattle on her way to Geneva for her summer internship.
Have a nice D visit BB, even if it’s short!!!
BB, I have to say at times I am jealous of your life! And the baby kiddo’s!
Last month I experimented with eating more carbs. Physically I felt better while running, but after a month I am heavier and not happy about it. I wish I had taken my measurements at the beginning of May, but I did not - so started off June by taking my measurements. Going to cut back on carbs somewhat but not to the drastically low levels I was at before - just eating more vegetables and fewer grains. We shall see.
Sabaray, I’m sure it’s hard to find the right balance. But also, maybe deciding which trumps the other - feeling physically better to do your workouts or seeing a lower # on the scale??? I know that of course you don’t want the scale to climb too much - and that’s where that balance gets tough.
The other complicating factor is doing more strength workouts - my clothes are not any tighter so I’m guessing some of the gain may be due to muscle weighing more than fat. Just need to figure out eating close to longer runs!
5 miles this morning. I was in a better “mental state” this morning when I started running, so didn’t feel as if I wanted to stop immediately after starting!
Congratulations and kudos on the various achievements noted in several posts – graduations, bike rides, running streaks, walks, etc. We enjoyed H’s reunion, and the weather was gorgeous. This next weekend we’re off to Maine for MY college reunion – hoping for equally nice weather.
Hi all - hip is feeling better - I finally figured out that it feels better when I move & stretch than when I rest. So I got back out there this am. I did LOTS of stretching before going out, walked 2.5 miles & tried to run a bit. I managed 4 30-second runs, but those did hurt a bit. I’m happy just being able to get back out there & walk, so the running can come when it comes.
The SD Rock & Roll Marathon was this weekend. Our local hero Meb Keflezighi took second in the half. Several friends completed their first half, and a 92-year old woman completed the full marathon. I’m so inspired by her - that is the kind of 92-year old I want to be!
Glad you are coming around, Gertrude!
Meb set an American masters’ record with a 1:02xx Can you imagine? I plan to beat that marathon record should I live that long (not Meb- the 92 year old…)
I have no doubts that you will, MOfWC!
Thanks, BB, although at this point I’m not at all sure I have it in me to run one at 62-3!
