Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

I ran a 5k today. At 1.3 miles, the course started on a long uphill for 1.4 miles. My big accomplishment was not walking up that hill. It was a small race, so I ended up with 1st in my age group.

Wow, MOWC, what a great accomplishment!

Yay, blankmind!

I was lucky the really fast, nationally ranked woman from here didn’t show up!

Thanks, everyone. I’m really beat.

MOfWC, well, she chickened out and you did not, so… Just kidding. Awesome race. Being just a minute slower than 2 years ago after having to deal with this injury is super awesome!

2 years ago I missed 2nd place by 4 seconds. Today I won by 50 minutes! I think some people shy away from this race. I guess Ashley Judd ran. She lives right near the course. I can’t stand her. She’s a Kentucky fan and very obnoxious at the basketball games. I think she probably beat me.

Great finishes today for MOWC and Blankmind! Bowing to you both!

I do always wonder when I see people (to me) obviously overdressed. That would make me MISERABLE!

Some real all-stars here! Congrats MOWC and blankmind!

Way to go, blankmind!

Hot and sunny. My body is slowly melting… I did not go to bed until past midnight - was monitoring D’s flight to Geneva. Plus, my legs still hurt after a day of mall walking, so the run has been postponed until later tonight.

Mr. B approved of the Lulu skirts. I had no doubts about that.

Congratulations MOWC and Blankmind. MOWC, what a time spread! You crushed it!

Day 3 of the Habitat ride was great. 47 miles and the one big hill we were promised going up Mt Gretna. Then downhill and rollers into Litiz where we enjoyed a great bbq restaurant with a stop afterwards at the Wilbur Chocolate outlet store :). Legs were weary but the distance was easy. Tomorrow, our last day, will be a challenge. 68 miles of rollers as we weave our way back to Philadelphia.

Sounds like awesome races and rides!

If you like Oiselle - hope you know about the factory store! They have MOWC’s favorite Roga shorts.

Limited sizes and colors - but might be worth a look.

The only thing I love more than athletic/fitness wear is outlet/factory stores that allow me to buy more for less!!!

The factory store now has the Yetti on sale in yellow. I love that thing for winter, even if it is very bizarre looking.

Darn you sabaray! I ordered a pair of the roga shorts. ;).

I have to laugh, there is a new girl in our neighborhood who runs with her dog. She is young and always looks so cute. Today she can in capris and a long sleeve pullover, looking cute and comfortable. I on the other hand was wearing shorts and a t shirt and sweating like a pig. I really don’t know how people run in clothes I would be comfortable in when not running lol!

I went to lululemon yesterday. Got a couple of tanks and a short sleeve shirt. The Pleat to street skirt wasn’t my favorite, sorry BB. I did like the hit your stride skirt but decided against it. I wasn’t wild about any of the prints they had, I might wait and see if it comes out in another print I like.

3 miles, got it in before the rain today.

Lol, deb, no need to say sorry. If we all wore the same stuff, we’d look like a PE class in uniforms.

Did a Color Run today but it was a combo of running and walking as my real goal was to support my friend who struggles with her weight and didn’t think she could walk a 5K. Which of course she was able to. I would walk with her, then run ahead and jog in place til she caught up. Since this is not the last 5K in the world I figured it was far more important to support my friend! After the first mile it POURED - yuck - but so it goes. She had fun and believed in herself so that’s what’s important.

I had an awesome playlist to keep us going. We first met as roommates and we bounced around our dorm room singing Madonna songs so we started off with “Material Girl” and “Vogue.”

Here is a good article that explains why lifting weights is good in many ways:

I think we’d be a very stylish PE class!

I’m signed up for a Pilates mat class today. I have to say I’m really enjoying this studio.

Great support for your friend, PG. Sometimes that is the boost one needs to move ahead and make better changes for their life.

Rain during a color run, oh my!!!

Pizzagirl, way to go. I’m sure this would be very motivating to your friend, and your support meant a whole lot to her.

Oh my… rained on color run… I’m picturing the runners like this:
