Happy birthday, BB! Nice run.
Happy birthday BB. Having celebrated the 22nd anniversary of turning 39, I can assure you that it’s all good! Enjoy!
Thank you!
Happy Birthday BB! :-*
Dug the old bottom of the line, bought at Target beach cruiser out of the garage a few days ago & dusted off the spider webs & put some air in the tires. I’ve done a couple of easy neighborhood rides in the 5 mile range. Nice to do something a little different.
We have no plans for tonight other than to sit on the floor and let our 80 pound lab crawl in our laps & tremble when he’s terrified from the fireworks! Poor baby.
Happy Birthday, Bunsen.
Gertrude, we have two Labs who feel the need to alert me to every…single…noise they hear. And they’ve been hearing a lot yesterday and today. They’re not so much afraid as on guard. Glad you’ve been enjoying biking!
BB, I hope Mr. B is treating you royally on your special day. Enjoy!
Happy birthday BB!
2 hour pleasant bike ride with H Then a nap - even better. Back on with discipline - had a yummy snack of almonds, almond milk and a babybel cheese - and a doggie who looked mournful that I had the nerve to open cheese in his presence and not give it to him.
Happy Birthday, BB and USA.
There is an excellent article in the new Runners’ World that I wish all of you could read. It does not appear to be online yet, but, hopefully it will. It’s about a fat African American woman who is extremely fit and runs marathons and some 50K trail races. She’s amazing. It opened my eyes to a lot of things. She is- fat and fit (self-described). She is healthy, and unable to lose any significant weight without starving herself. She has a blog- we aren’t allowed to link blogs, but if you google fatgirlrunning blog you will find it. She’s amazing. The article in RW is more instructive than her blog, though, and talks about how it is better to be fat and fit than skinny and unfit (citing Cooper Institute studies- my old stomping ground). She is a real inspiration.
I have to admit, I find Runners’ World to be mostly fluff these days, but I usually enjoy one or two articles per issue and I like the product reviews. This article was outstanding.
I really want to get that article. I have a good friend who is very overweight and runs – she’s African American, too. (She doesn’t run marathons and 50K trail races, so I know it’s not her.) She says that she hardly eats anything and can’t lose weight (she’s been on Weight Watchers and always has lots of points left over at the end of the week.) She is very passionate about running – she ran a 10K race this morning, as a matter of fact. I think she’d really want to read that – I’ll look for the blog and pass it along to my friend.
And a very happy birthday, BB!
She should buy the magazine hard copy. It’s worth it. There’s also a good review of running bras for all sizes.
I got my exercise wrestling the smoker today. Got beef short ribs, baby back ribs, and pulled pork butts done and put away in the fridge in time to settle down with a mug of coffee and a glass of vintage port for the Dead webcast from Chicago starting any minute.
Had a combo platter of beef short rib and baby back ribs for dinner… Yummm
Great day for grilling!
Bike ride around town today, and I may do some strength training. We’ll see. On the other hand, we could decide to venture out and see fireworks. It’s over 90° today. Fortunately I did my running before it really warmed up yesterday, one of my better moves. It’s been hot, hot around here. Unusual!
Sounds great, iDad!
It’s pouring rain here and all the local fireworks are cancelled or postponed. The big one in downtown Nashville is still supposed to happen. We aren’t going. Past my bedtime!
Happy birthday BB! I hope it was a good one.
Went deep-sea fishing today with H. We were out for 3 hours. I was standing the whole time–was probably casting for the better part of two hours. When we got off the boat I checked my Polar Flow (it’s a braclet/type activity monitor–similar to a Fitbit). It indicated that I logged 7,233 steps??? I’m thinking it was the movement of the boat that was making it seem like I was moving and walking?? Can’t figure it out. I did walk to and from fireworks at the beach, which put my steps way beyond my goal.
Hope you had a great birthday BB!
Thank you all for the happy birthday wishes!
It was spectacular and ended with a boom! As promised in another thread, I walked in my fancy heels to and from the fireworks display, just slightly more than a 5k round trip! Terminators wisely stayed out of my path, so no butts were kicked.
My legs feel perfectly fine. We probably ate too much today, even though we skipped lunch. Tomorrow is a rest day…
Hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable 4th!
And on the 7th day … Yup, a rest day today works for me, too! Toward the end of the week I start looking forward to Sunday so I can just sit with my coffee. I will take the dog for a walk later, though.
Happy (day late) Birthday, BB. All those fireworks for you!
Our poor puppy was beside herself last night with all the fireworks getting set off down at the beach. I tried to hold her on my lap, but she couldn’t sit still – pacing, whining, etc.
Bromfield- arm movement (casting) adds a lot of steps. So would the boat’s movement. Rough vehicle rides will as well. My daughter got 15000 steps riding in a jeep in Africa. I get steps clapping at sporting events and also when washing my face.
These are very imprecise gadgets!
My gas bubble in my eye is gone! Removed my medical alert bracelet and will try a run/walk today!
That’s why I haven’t switched to a wrist fitness counter yet. My Fitbit is clipped onto my bra and doesn’t record arm motions. And it does record motion in the winter when my hands may be in my pockets during a walk.
The friends we hiked with on Friday – the woman just got the wristband Fitbit with heart rate monitor. She did a good job selling it to me – I’m sure there is one of those in my future, although I’m waiting to Black Friday to get a good deal.
