Yay MOWC!
3.1 miles running- no walking. I’ve had enough walking lately… HR was too high, and it wasn’t easy, but I did it! The weather is horrible- 100% humidity and 71. I’m sure I’ll be a little sore, but it was worth it! I wore the one contact lens and it wasn’t great. I will also try my glasses and see how that goes.
Our doggie did OK last night - I put him in his crate & he just curled up & slept through the fireworks. He’s almost 11 now - I wonder if he’s going deaf?? Or just doesn’t care anymore, lol.
Taking a day off today - maybe a short bike ride later on my dusty old bike.
D and I are going to abandon the C25K program after week 3 in favor of doing 3:1 run / walk ratios & slowly increasing the number of repeats. We’re shooting for a 5K on August 15. What fun to do a race with her!
So glad to hear that the bubble is gone, MOfWC!
walked around mountain town today for a few hours and finally cooler, treadmill tonight for 3 miles.sleeping better.
5.14 miles this morning. Fiddled a little with the intervals on my timer so I felt better today than the I had on the last several runs. I left for the gym quite early – once again a case of “just get it done.”
Glad to hear you’re back at it, MOWC.
Happy Belated BB!
Sounds like summertime everywhere - heat, humidity, mosquitos!
I’m back from vacation and quite weary but plan a run tonight if my legs will cooperate. Sure will miss the pools in France - it was a nice variety for a change!
Spent the long weekend up in the Thousand Islands doing a lot of nothing but eating plenty of something! Back to eating healthy and moving today. I must say I am getting incredibly frustrated with my Fitbit Charge HR. I’ve calculated my actual stride length by counting steps on a measured track and doing the calculation, but the tracker continues to undercount my distance. I’ve read all the comments on the Fitbit Community Forums and it looks like this is an ongoing problem for many people. I hate that I am motivated by this device, but I like tangible evidence of achieving goals, but that’s my reality and it keeps me moving. I went for a quick walk this morning and covered 1.8 miles (checked by odometer) in 30 minutes…but it says I went 1.1 miles. The steps are undercounting for the distance as well - the steps match the distance is records, but the distance (and therefore steps) is way off. Color me frustrated :((
MOWC - glad the gas bubble has disappeared and you’re back running. Hope everyone else enjoyed a nice holiday weekend.
Ugh, how frustrating runnersmom - it is these type of comments that make me take a step back from buying one of these trackers - I keep going back and forth on what to do! But you want credit where credit is due, right?!!
I use a Garmin forerunner & a cheap step-counter- theoretically I get accurate steps and distance, and I can get distance on my bike rides too. No heart rate info though & have to count calories separately.
I don’t know if this is true or not but a friend who managed a fitness center indicated that the reason ellipticals became/are so popular (over) treadmills is that they are programmed to overstate calories. Easier and better results in less time!
Welcome back, abasket! Yay, you survived the insane weather in Paris!
It has been brutal here. I could not believe it was still 80 degrees at 10 pm last night when we landed. Apparently, we set an all time temperature record for the 4th of July, and this weather insanity continues. My feet swelled pretty badly this morning
so fingers crossed my new shoes are going to be here soon. Of course, as soon as the package comes, the weather will become cooler. I’ll take that!
Did some running before and after work. The after work shirt treadmill run felt quite hard. I guess I have to get used to it again. Back on the Jungle Gym straps, too. I wasn’t allowed to do anything like that during my healing.
This week is the official start of my marathon training plan. I’m out of town on business but managed to find a local community college nearby and did a 5.5 mile run around their campus this evening to get today’s run in. I’ll be in meetings all day tomorrow and then driving home tomorrow night pretty late so I think I will get up early and do the treadmill in the hotel gym before work. I hate running on the treadmill but don’t feel comfortable running alone outside in an unfamiliar area early in the morning.
abasket-glad you had such a nice vacation. It sounded wonderful!
MOWC-Yay for the gas bubble being gone! I’m so glad that you are able to run again!
Anybody watching the Tour de France?
That crash was horrible. But it has always amazed me that the riders can ride in giant packs like that at 30+ mph and not have crashes like this all the time.
I was beat but got my run in tonight. Weather suppose to cool down a bit tomorrow - and rain. The mosquitos are going to be ruling this city!!!
Nice hilly neighborhood walk on a warm muggy afternoon, catching up on a few podcasts.
4 miles, barely. Perhaps the slowest run of the season!
Grilled steaks for dinner and served them with a nice green salad. Cherries for dessert! Yum.
I think we need a rundown of who is doing what type of race coming up later this summer or fall! I’m losing track who to root for when! Post if you have a race (run, walk, bike, swim - whatever!) planned.
Dragged myself out for a 22 minute run this morning. I’ve been sidelined for a month thanks to some flu like thing. Have to rebuild my mileage now, since marathon training starts at the end of the month.
