“So going to a restaurant and having a bigger meal after eating less makes me want to go home and keep eating.”
Do you think the meal you generally eat out is super carb heavy and that throws you off - and makes your want to keep eating when you get home??? Maybe only eat 1/2 the meal out and then when you get home if you are still hungry eat the other 1/2 - at least then it all totals to no more than one meal.
Oops, did the math wrong. I was 46 when I did the Marine Corps w/o training. My oldest had just left for college and i missed the first ever Parent’s Weekend because of it. Sometimes when I read your stories of training, the thought crosses my mind that it would be fun to try another.
Have I mentioned I love my Pilates trainer? One terrific hour this morning using all the equipment. I was really stiff when I arrived and just feel so much better already. Am going to hot yoga tonight. Something that will be fun for the weekend - D is going to be home and we are going to do a partner session!
46? Double wow!! You must have had some distance running training in the past or are super resilient!
Attention, Lulu shoppers!! There is now Pleat to Street III skirt!!! It is being marketed to runners specifically. Tiny pleats, and both colors look awesome:
Hotel treadmill adventures…Planned to run outside in Atlanta area this morning but it turned out it was too dark at 6am- nothing like home! I went into the tiny fitness room at the very mediocre hotel- 1 treadmill. I got it and did 1.7 miles and then ducked out to get a towel. My key wouldn’t let me back in. So- I went outside. Marginal area and 1 scary street to cross. Total 4 miles.
Long meeting at the Center for Disease Control campus about salmonella. That will kill your appetite!
LOL, MOfWC! I spent a few lovely evenings in the company of infectious disease specialists. Let’s just say I ate very light dinners but compensated my calorie deficit with wine.
Wow. One treadmill. Someone needs to start a site that rates hotel fitness centers and lists the actual equipment they have! It is so hard to get that info out of the hotel sites, and some employees would lie to you. Do you have usable treadmills? Yes! Nevermind they are not plugged in because they are all broken.
Went to hot yoga last night after work; this morning ran 5.5. Slow but most importantly, pain free. My next investment is going to have to be yoga clothing if I keep doing this regularly. I love the lulu Groove shorts but they are too warm. I’m getting one of the MOWC recommended mats for sure - getting the towel and mat to cooperate is proving to be frustrating!
That WSJ article was good in the sense that it emphasized how little it really takes to get some significant health and weight loss benefits. I still think one of the biggest hurdles is that people think you have to spend lots of time at the gym or run miles and miles to make a dent!
Haven’t posted in a few days. Long dog walk on Sunday morning. Later on Sunday and then again on Monday H & I did a 3 hour round trip in the car to CT for calling hours and a funeral for a close friend’s mother. Emotionally challenging in so many ways for both of us.
4.8 miles on Tuesday morning before the rain started.
Now I’m back in Cambridge, waiting to hear from an claims estimator from our auto insurance company. (Insert long story here about getting into an accident 10 minutes after leaving a service appointment at the dealer.) Not in a very positive frame of mind at the moment …
Ran 6 miles last night with the running club. We ended at a local brewpub and had a great time afterwards. Tonight is a session at the gym with my trainer - this is going to be really tough since I missed 2 weeks while I was in China.
sabaray-so glad that you are running pain free!
CBBBlinker - (((Hugs))) sorry to hear about everything going on for you.
Great part of running with a group - the social time! Since we run in the morning, we usually head to breakfast when we socialize. I think people would look askance if we headed to the brewpub!
CBBB - what a rough week. Hopefully no injuries from the car accident. Hope the rest of the week goes better for you.
Oh no, CBB! I’m so sorry about the accident and all the other stressors.
sabaray- great news about running pain free.
Someone turned off the heat temporarily here in middle Tennessee. Gorgeous morning- 60 degrees with low humidity. I guess it’s getting me ready for my Colorado trip next week!
I can’t remember if I mentioned that I was at the Center for Disease Control (CDC) in Atlanta yesterday on business. It is a huge compound- they search your car before you even drive in and there are about 8 security checkpoints to even get to the meeting room I was taken to. Talking about outbreaks of infectious disease goes a long way to ruining your appetite, especially when, in our case, the topic was chickens! I can’t believe I ate deviled eggs for lunch after that!
