I was being sarcastic about the WSJ paper. It is sad that people forget such obvious stuff. Hope more papers like that will get the message across that one does not need to spend hours in the gym to get the needed exercise. Commuting by walking is a great way to stay in shape.
I finally hopped on the scale after losing my airplane weight gain. Did not gain an ounce while eating the delicious Swedish bread and meatballs with mashed potatoes. Ditto Mr. B.
I was able to see the whole thing, but then my screen refreshed, and it got hidden behind their paywall. Seriously? Such articles should be freely available to the public - it is a major public health matter!
Doing my commutercise today, which amounts to a 2 mile walk in the city with some mighty hills!
Day off here. Tomorrow, since we couldn’t find an official 5K to enter to celebrate D completing the C25K program, we are holding the First Annual McFuzz Family Invitational 5K!
I love Zella socks. Get them at the Rack in 3-packs, about $3/pair. They dry quickly and are moisture-wicking.
Go McFuzz family!
I slacked off last night. We finally were able to gather enough of the Bunsen clan in one spot to celebrate SIL’s birthday. Trying to arrange a party for all of these crazy busy mad scientists is worse than herding cats! We got to eat well - I shall start a new thread on our dining experience.
From Kristin Armstrong’s article in Runners’ World online: " Running is just a form of exercise until you love it. It’s exercise until your training takes you beyond the emphasis on effort and into the realm of ease. It’s exercise until the physical becomes spiritual. It’s exercise until “have to” or “should” becomes “I get to,” “I can’t wait to,” or “I can’t imagine not.” It’s exercise until the daily try becomes more interesting and important than the outcome. It’s exercise until the energy becomes essential. It’s exercise until you forget to care what you look like doing it, or what you look like because of it."
I am coming down with something sniffles and general muscle aches. Yuck. I have my last long run planned for this weekend!!! Eek. I doubt I will be up to that kind of epic efforts, but maybe I will feel better by Sunday, so everyone knock on wood for me please!
Thanks, MOfWC! I am 100% positive it was the sneezing dude sitting diagonally from me! Yuck. As I said, airplanes are Petri dishes with wings. It is not horrid, but it leaves me limp enough to want to curl up under a blankie with a cup of tea.
Busy day today and I was able to get my long run in but I couldn’t go until 3:30 when it was 88 degrees. It wasn’t that humid, though, so it didn’t feel that bad. Anyway, 11 miles done. We leave tomorrow morning to spend the weekend in St. Louis visiting our son.
Gertrude-have fun with your family 5K. That sounds very fun!
MOWC-that is a great quote!
Bunsen-sorry to hear you are feeling under the weather. Shame on the sneezing dude! I hope you feel better soon. I’m knocking on wood for your long run on Sunday.
A reminder to always have a mini pack of wet wipes to wipe hands frequently and surfaces esp in a place like a plane with a sneezing guy. Sometimes just can avert the inevitable in that closed cabin. Hope the tea and rest help BB.
Got the walk/jog in with warmer weather later, 87 degrees plus. Had to work myself up to it after not good sleep last night. Now controlling food intake by using these great sugar free Werther’s original candies.
My commute today sucked… pot fest plus two major games in town! Talk about streets turned into parking lots. People took their chances and drove on the bus only street gambling that the cops would be too busy with other stuff. LOL. I took refuge in the Lulu store - scored a PtS skirt at 33% off and a Stuff Your Bra bra - also at 33% off!
This is the skirt:
The store gave out new Lulu shopping bags with the design of the tomorrow’s race. Someday, I will get to the registration page fast enough and sign up for this run!
Recently back from a long early morning walk with the puppy.
The last couple of days I have been majorly stressed, dealing with insurance, the auto body shop, arranging a rental, and then fighting all the Friday afternoon traffic getting back to the beach. At least the next time I see my car (2+ weeks) it will look as good as new. I’m still pretty freaked out about the whole thing.
