Pilates training session this morning - we did several exercises on the foam roller which felt great! It’s amazing how just using a few props - like a block, roller or circle - can add a whole new level of challenge. On several plus notes, my back is so much stronger and I’m actually starting to see some waist definition!
I’m still tired today but the temp and humidity have finally dropped. I’m planning on a restful weekend - I may do a pilates/yoga combo class but not sure, going to wait and see how I feel at the end of the day. I need to figure out if I can do Pilates back to back - not sure if it’s the same idea as weights where you should give some recovery time or if it truly something you can do every day. I’m going to run a few miles on my own tomorrow or Sunday - stressing over group runs isn’t helping my recovery at all.
Good session with the trainer last night focusing on core and upper body. Today is a rest day. I love Fridays! Trying not to think about tomorrow morning’s long run…
sabaray-it’s great that you are enjoying Pilates so much. Sounds as if you are much better off running solo right now if group runs are stressing you out. You don’t need more stress in your life!
I am loving this weather! Sunny, blue skies, cool temps, and no humidity. Perfect!
sabaray, I find that I like the idea of group runs better than the reality. At 5am, it’s less challenging to open the door and run rather than have to drive somewhere for a meetup.
6.5 miles here in Crested Butte. It’s just so beautiful but, boy, is it hard to get enough oxygen. Lots of dirt roads. There was frost and Inwore gloves the whole time!
Frost? What is that? Aaahh… Ok, now I remember! OMG! Love the description of your run, MOfWC! We too are going to CO in a week, so I will get one big run at an altitude before my marathon. I did 13 miles in Denver a while back… Went out slow. It will be fun!
“Trying not to think about tomorrow morning’s long run…”
I realized that I dread things only if my mind tells me to do so. So I mentally treat my long runs as if they were holiday outings! I run mostly in the 'hood or on the dreadmill most days, so getting out to the park trail is exciting! I start prepping myselg the evening before… pick the wildest socks and clothes I have… then when I run, I try to play mental games… like can I get to the mile marker before a certain time. Or I count wildlife I can spot.
This discussion of long runs & meetups is interesting. I’m just getting to the point of even having a weekend long run - I have 6 miles planned for tomorrow - & I am sort of planning on joining a running group in January to have company on those long runs. But I know myself, and I do enjoy running on my own schedule more than having to meet up with someone… hmmm.
^^^Add me to the list! Not a morning person - almost never run in the morning, unless it’s such a crazy week at work it’s literally the only time (I think that has happened maybe once or twice). Also, for the most part, I do solo runs.
I do them rarely, but I actually look forward to my long, slow runs
D2 has our kitty with her at her college town so that DH and I can go on a vacation. I miss that little black haired, green eyed princess. I don’t think D2 is going to give her up easily.
I’m sad that iDad has disappeared. I hope he’s OK!
Went on a 3 mile hike on the mountain. It was on single track mountain bike trail and was mainly downhill- but gradual. I was with a slower, less fit person, so we didn’t lush it. It was still tiring- especially after my run this morning. It was beautiful, though. H did an aggressive mountain bike ride with our host with some steep climbs and rocks. He fell once but he’s mainly OK.
I’m sad that idad has left the Cafe. Hope he is just busy with whatever daily activities. Well, we’ll have to keep the thread going, so hopefully some day he could be back…
Dietitian had not heard about Trim Down Club, but everything I told her about it - she said it sounded good and was a low cost investment ($47). She liked my weight loss progress, liked my food intake diary. I can just email her updates on weight loss rather than visits because I am doing well enough w/o need for 1 on 1. At visit 2, I needed better control on some portion sizes. I am using a lot of the snack ‘tricks’ to keep my appetite low enough. She liked the idea I use for spinach - I combine 1 block of chopped spinach and 1 block of creamed spinach. Then I set half aside in frig for another time. It gives enough of the cream flavoring and keeps calories down. I go to the 50 calorie cheese stick for snack. Also cut up apple and 1 T peanut butter.
I made some chicken broth with boiling the chicken bones skeleton.
Trying to keep things interesting, but I have some consistent favorites.
She was surprised that I kept portion size low enough to have some Publix fried chicken in there, and some potato salad too (I added more eggs to potato salad and kept portion small).
