BB - it is totally just on line advising and meal planning. Everything on the clip made sense, and when it said ‘dietitian approved meals’ plus has gone along with everything which makes sense. They had four additional things advertised with signing up that sounded helpful - a shopping guide, a cookbook, easy perfect soup recipes, and a 14 day express meal plan. Since I didn’t sign up, I don’t know if some of that comes in the mail or if it is all electronic/on line.
I wonder if you can find it via the founder’s name, Dr. Karen Schakelford along with Trim Down Club.
I just figured I would ask my dietitian, because I see her tomorrow.
It popped up on CC as an ad below when I was on this thread yesterday. But I haven’t seen the ad/link since…
I played 18 holes this morning and will head out to wax my car this afternoon
I need suggestions for exercises to remove the wings under my arms. I know I have lost weight and need to tighten up my triceps. is this age related too?.
Ulumay, what helped me tighten up the skin on my arms and all around was to get some free weights and use them religiously every other evening. I will check my records to see what I have as far as exercise descriptions!
Meanwhile, I’m hoping that our gurus MichaelNKat and idad would comment in that issue as well!
Dealing with under the arm “wings” can be a challenge. Age, gender, lean vs fatty body composition, saggy skin due to weight loss, all play a role. Exercise will certainly help by building more lean muscle tissue and toning. Remember that there are 2 heads to the triceps and you need to hit both. Pronated tricep push downs, supinated tricep push downs, dips with elbows close to sides, dumbbell shoulder presses, supine tricep extensions using a db, standing tricep extensions with DB or cables. Vary your grip on cable push downs. Do tricep kick backs. TRX standing tricep extensions in both pronated and supinated grips.
Back in the saddle again. After a busy week of company, family events and dropping D2 off for freshman year today, I came home, through on my running shorts and shoes and headed out into the gosh awful 80 degree , 150% humidity for a fun. I think once I took a few steps I realized how much I missed the movement! Hoping for a few less degrees and a few more runs in the next few days.
I used to have arm “wings”. The ladies at work were just talking about arm wings the other day and snarked on how “abasket doesn’t have any!” - well, I really attribute it to some weight loss but overall toning of my chest and arms from the running. It was a slow gradual process but the results are appreciated just the same!!!
“I think once I took a few steps I realized how much I missed the movement!”
Amen, abasket! When we got off the plane, I really did not want to move. My legs were swollen, my head was jetlagged… But as soon as I made it through the first mile, I felt so much better! A body in motion likes to stay in motion, as they say.
Yes, the toning process was slower than I wanted for me. In retrospect, I think I am blessed with a good toning gene, because the unsightly skin flap around my waist disappeared in a year after I dropped weight. Ditto the arm “wings” or as Mr. says, the better terminology would be “ailerons”.
Equipment
When playing pickleball, each player will need a pickleball paddle, which is smaller than a tennis racquet but larger than a ping-pong paddle. Originally, paddles were made only from wood, however today’s paddles have evolved dramatically and are primarily made of lightweight composite materials, including aluminum and graphite. Players will also need a net and a pickleball. The ball itself is unique, with holes through it like a wiffleball and there are different ball models intended for indoor and outdoor play. The ball travels at 1/3 the speed of a tennis ball and is usually white or yellow in color. New bright color balls are also gaining in popularity.
30 minute run done. I felt so tired and draggy when I woke up. I had to force myself out to run, but then my run was really good. Glad I made myself go.
Another horrible, humid day - only 4 miles but it’s done. 73 degrees, 97% humidity. At 5 am. A cold front is coming through - hopefully will make things more tolerable! Legs felt like lead weights. Even slower today than on the hill - not a good feeling at all. I’ve been really dehydrated in spite of drinking a lot of water - not sure what that’s all about.
The rain held off last night so I was able to get a 5.7 mile run in on the hilly course. It really is great training - some major hills in a 1.1 mile loop through the park. So I do 5 loops, alternating the direction each time. Tonight is a workout at the gym with my trainer. I have found that weight training really helped with the arm “wings”. I have some loose skin (everywhere) from weight loss, but my arms have good muscle definition from the weight training and I think that really minimizes the arm wing look.
Our humidity broke overnight and it’s really pleasant out this morning. So hopefully this air will make its’ way east and provide some relief to the rest of you.
Bunsen, I’ve been using Nuun pretty regularly and then drink quite a bit of plain water during the day, one cup of coffee in the morning and zero soda or juice. Just been feeling incredibly thirsty! I’ve been taking Advil more frequently than I would like to so have been drinking as much water as possible.
Send that cool air our way! I’ll bet MOWC is enjoying some cool air out West.
I think the humidity just tanks us, Sabaray. I bet that’s what’s getting to you.
5 gorgeous miles at 8800 feet this morning. I stayed pretty flat, but there were still a few small climbs down here in Crested Butte. 37 degrees with clear blue skies. I did better than I usually do on my first run here and made a couple of rest stops to look at the views, but didn’t walk. Had planned 4, so I got. “Bonus” mile. I was barely sweaty when I finished because it is so dry here. That was quite a change!
I’ll be doing a lot of walking and some hiking, too.
Humidity… ugh. It gets me all the time, too. Sabaray, it looks like you are replenishing the lost salts with your Nuun… so no other suggestions, but hope the cooler weather will bring you some relief!
Cake and ice cream terrorist attack in the kitchen has been successfully counteracted with a jar of yogurt, a hard-boiled egg, and some grapes. Now… dear coworkers… people… please eat that crap before I start craving it!!
