Yay for BB and sabaray! Sounds like a great race.
Hot and muggy today so I did 4 indoor miles around the Mall of America.

NMinn, great job. There is a Lulu in there! I would have been seriously derailed by that.

Ha! Yes, it is hard to walk by it! Did you know Lulu is popular with high school boys? D2’s H has 2 brothers who are big athletes and both are always shopping there.

Wow. But I see more and more men in our local stores. Men’s stuff is now about 1/3 of the store (used to be more like a couple of racks).

My husband wears the Lulu crew neck tech tshirts almost every day just as casual wear (he’s retired). He really likes them- and he is NO fashion plate!

Mr B is a Lulu convert as well! Their Silverescent fabric is a big sell to him - it can get all sweaty but does not stink. Our SIL and kiddos also get a traditional gift of Lulu tees at Christmas - sort of revival of the old tradition of giving pajamas.

Such beautiful weather we are having this week! So happy to see so many people out and about in the neighborhood being outside!

Changed it up tonight and hopped on my bike. Someone short apparently borrowed it (I think my S’s GF…) so while it wasn’t adjusted quite right I enjoyed a 40 minute ride. Nice change!

I love Lulu clothing. My daughter gets all sorts of discounts because she is a Lulu Ambassador trainer :).

And put me in the Honeycrisp column too!

I enjoy all kinds of apples - living in Virginia there are a multitude of growers producing for their own ciders - so called “heirloom” varieties that don’t really fit in the commercial market. Gala and Fuji are among my favorites though in the more broadly available types. Ginger Gold, too!

Rest day for me today. Pup walk this morning - visited with some other pup friends, so got an upper body workout!

Bought a tray of Honeycrisps at Costco last night. They smell heavenly.

I found a race for Mr. B! Flat, cooler weather, and… it is NASA! Run with the nerds!! The medals are in the shape of the shuttles. This year’s medal is Discovery, but the half is already sold out. Ok, bookmarked for the next year.

I’ve had my eye on that one, too.

They sell Swiftwick socks here at the Nashville airport. Buy local… They also sell GooGoo clusters and Moon Pies.

4.1 miles this morning for day 75 of the streak. Off to Boston.

Moooooooon Pies!!! Astronaut food, right? Must be nutritious and healthy. JK. Love them.

I got my Swiftwick order in the mail last night: bright white, cyan, and psychedelic purple (per Mr. B’s words). The socks are very well made - no loose threads on the inside. Will give them a test run this weekend.

Morning run. Cool with light wind.

Many apple varieties I see available now that I’ve never tried.

Got a 6.4 mile run in last night. It’s Friday here now, which is a rest day. Yay! Tomorrow morning will be a long run. The location of the hotel I am staying at is great - just a few blocks from one of the largest parks in Shanghai. There is a good bike/running lane around the periphery of the park which means no traffic or stoplights to deal with and it is exactly a 5K loop. That has been great for my runs so far and will be really good tomorrow morning. There is enough variety in the people watching while running that doing multiple loops of the same course is not a problem.

I am also a fan of Swiftwick socks. They seem to shrink and/or run a little small so they are tight when I put them on, but they are great to run in.

BunsenBurner-I am also one who pops all blisters immediately, although I will confess to being not nearly as diligent as you are about sterilization and all. I just lance them and clean it up. This blister is in a weird place on the bottom of my foot where my big toe starts and even though I lance it, the extra skin seems to make a callus and another blister almost immediately on subsequent runs. It’s weird. Hopefully it will clear up soon.

C3Baker, I’m so impressed how you keep your fitness on track from all corners of the world!!

Speaking of NOT traveling, 30 minute run in the neighborhood tonight - had to stop when it got too dark to see the bumps and such on the pavement!!!

There have been some scary and maddening incidents on the Schuylkill River Trail (SRT) in Philadekphia, which is where I run when I am there and downtown and where I ran with my daughter 3 weeks ago. A group of young teenagers on bikes surrounds female runners, grabs at them and verbally harasses them. It’s very frightening. To be clear, they surround a single female. They also have run into single cyclists, knock the cyclist over and steal something. Police have promised to increase patrols.

I’m going to have to start in the dark tomorrow morning here in Boston, but I have a headlamp. It will get light quickly, I think.

C3Baker and MOfWC, your accounts of keeping up with the training schedule while traveling are very inspirational and motivational!

MOfWC, that is scary. It can easily escalate to assaults if these kids are not given a good chase by the cops ending with their arrest. Every such incident that they can get away with reinforces in their pea-sized criminal minds that they can do whatever they want. Be safe.

City walk and weights. Now off to make dinner for Mr.

The assaults on the SRT have become more frequent and brazen over the last couple of weeks. In the past, the problem areas were outside of Philadelphia around the Norristown area but recently the attacks have occurred on the newer sections built in and around the Philadelphia center city area. Unfortunately, there also seems to be an uptick in problems on the Pennypack Park trail system that goes from the border of Montgomery and Philadelphia counties east to the Delaware River. While these incidents are alarming and law enforcement steps must be taken to address this, it’s important to keep in mind that these trail systems cover over 80 miles (the SRT alone is 60 miles) and are used by thousands of people so the incident rate per user or miles is still pretty low. What’s really getting a bit scary is that there is a sizable number of users on discussion boards and social media who are seriously advocating carrying weapons from pepper spray to handguns. I am not “anti-gun” (I am trained in the use of weapons and have a concealed carry permit) but the thought of carrying and deploying weapons with lethal capacity on multi user trails filled with families and kids is simply lunacy.

52 minute run this morning.

I frequently see runners in various facebook groups asking about the best method to “carry” - I find that very alarming and would not run with someone who carried. When we do some country running, I do carry a citronella spray to deter any aggressive dogs - it doesn’t harm them. I initially got it when poor Sabadog was having an issue with an owner who allowed her dog to roam free and go after him. Sabadog doesn’t fight back so I felt it was a worthwhile investment to stop the other dog if necessary. I’ve never had to use it but we have a few women who are very fearful of dogs and for some reason it makes them feel safer.

Working a short day today, planning a run tomorrow followed by a combo yoga/Pilates class.

On a more personal note - this has been one of the most stressful years of my entire life and I have to tell you I am so grateful to have this thread to come back to every day. Instead of eating donuts to relieve stress, I am going for long runs and coming here to tell you about it. I hope you all are going to hang around for a while because I don’t want to go back to eating donuts.
