Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

C3Baker, what a run - phone drama and all! I hope that you will take it “easy” now until race time.

Congratulations to your son and his partner and I hope you fully enjoy the weekend - celebrate!

Nice blog post MOWC! really enjoyed it.

3.5 miles on dreadmill and 2 miles walking D1’s dog. I am tired.

Heading to the lake for a Mother/Daughter weekend with a friend and her D and I will have D2 with me. Plan on hiking and attending an Oktoberfest at a local winery. Should be fun!

Glad everything worked out OK, C3Baker. Have fun at the wedding and enjoy all the related festivities.

Nice blog post by your D, MOWC.

Hope your hip feels better, Gertrude.

Here’s a link to an article about a Lululemon warehouse sale in Boston this weekend, for anyone in the area. (The rest of you can indulge in wishful thinking!) We’re still in RI, so I won’t be able to go. http://www.bostonmagazine.com/health/blog/2015/10/14/lululemon-warehouse-sale-boston-october/

More packing/winterizing on tap for today, along with a long dog walk.

Where is @interesteddad? Did I miss something??

Congrats to your son, C3Baker - enjoy your weekend! NM, that sounds absolutely wonderful. I’m planning a trip to see PlantMom - that meal sounds incredible, but like you, I’d be looking for veggies for a while! I’m still recovering from our bosses day festivities earlier this week.

@VeryHappy, we’re not sure. He (or someone) seems to be checking in but not posting. No idea.

Big pup walk this morning, planning a longer run tomorrow - increasing my mileage gradually.

Thanks, @sabaray.

Wow, I’d love to see the doors open and the crowd rush in on that Lulu sale!!!

interesteddad disappeared without warning and we are all very sad.

2.2 easy miles before I travel to PA.

Enjoy the race and your son’s company, MOfWC! Hope he wins the whole thing for another psychological boost.

Best wishes to anyone racing this weekend. I’m thinking Deb922 has a 5K too???

Didn’t get home till close to dusk. Too much sitting today, needed to get out. Stayed around the neighborhood and squeaked in 3 miles!

Good job, abasket! I have been sitting all day long, too. Looking at dang little molecules trying to put pieces of the puzzle together. I tried to drink as much water as I could so that would get me off running to the bathroom often.

Still too sore to run. :frowning: But managed to get some walking in, and the talk about weights inspired me to do them more often.

Plantmom, Thanks for the shout-out on the safety. This barbell is staying outside. I think I need a weight deck. The bar is as long as my hammock.

Swam this morning, along with the lift of my barbell and kettle-bell swings.

I am off to support the 4-H Flocktober event and pushing more omega 3 in your eggs! Tomorrow will be chain saw on a stick day.
Everyone have a healthy fitness weekend.

Workout with my trainer yesterday and vinyasa yoga today.

Spent yesterday afternoon making fish stock–H went night fishing and got a 20 pound striper. Going to freeze the stock and make scallop chowder when I can get some bay scallops (the tiny ones)–commercial season starts soon. I always serve the scallop chowder on Thanksgiving.

Good luck to all those racing/running/or triatheloning today. Those barbells without weights are usually around 45 pounds–glad everyone is OK.

Yum, that sounds interesting and GOOD!!! ^^^

Scallop chowder - yum! But I really want to hear about the chainsaw on a stick!?

So, confession time. After my posts this week about taking it easy before my 10K next weekend and possibly abandoning my plans of doing a Half by the end of the year, I went out this morning & ran a new long distance for me - 8 miles, plus a 1 mile cool down walk. I decided on a looping course where I could bow out at any time & be close to home & I’d just go as far as I felt like I could. My hips felt good & I just went for it. So of course, now I am back full steam ahead with my hopes of doing the half. I guess I’ll see how the next 24-48 hours goes. On a bit of a high right now…

Gertrude, good job. Listening to what the body tells you is the best strategy, IMO. Just keep doing those core-stabilizing exercises!

Yep, I have some cross-training strategies worked out. I started riding my exercise bike on my non-running days & that felt great - almost like I was unwinding the tension in my legs & hips. I’ll add back some of the core & upper body exercises from my circuit routine & hopefully get stronger.

Hoping MOWC didn’t freeze her tush off in the half!!!

I hope MOfWC is warm and happy!
