C3Baker–congratulations to your son and partner! Hope your weekend went well.
Wishing successes to all the weekend racers!
Just walking for me the past few days. I have a new camera lens I’ve been playing with outside, so unless I’ve had my DH at my side, my pace has been more like that of the tortoise
I wish she’d report in with good news! She must be celebrating.
Not so great morning for me - very dark this morning and I slipped on some gravel when moving to the side and fell. Ended up at the ER getting my hand x-rayed and stitched up. Thankfully nothing is broken. I tell you, if it weren’t for bad luck with running this year I wouldn’t have any!
Busy day. It was cold, uphill and windy. Son was 2nd overall with a 1:24, which is slow for him. I won my age group with 2:12 ( 5 minutes slower than last week). It was really pretty- but gold and hard. We turned around on the trail at about 8 1/2 and it was a gradual uphill. I lost a lot of time. They gave me my award about 3 minutes after I finished and wanted me to climb up on the podium. I needed help.
Wow!!! Congrats to the 2 silver medals in the family! Great job. Anyone who does cold, windy, and hilly deserves major kudos!
Congrats to C3Baker and MNK on their kids marriages! What a busy week, everyone.
OMG, sabaray!!! So smart for you to go to the ER. Those little bones are not too be messed with! Glad nothing is broken. I kick myself in the butt for keeping running after my big treadmill wipeout - I definitely broke a toe or two, and it took a while to heal. It probably did not heal right, because that foot gets blisters no matter what I do.
Miss a couple of days on this Board and it’s almost impossible to catch up with everyone’s events, successes and in some cases unfortunate mishaps! Congratulations to everyone who competed or just played and a speedy recovery to those who are suffering from aches, pains and abrasions.
And as to MOWC, a little birdie (Facebook) has told me she took 1st place!
Edit - I type so slow by the time I posted this MOWC had already reported her successes here lol.
Sabaray, ouch! I bet it kind of scared the heck out of you! So just a sprain??? Glass half full, glad it wasn’t worse. You don’t need your hand to run anyway, right?!
Congrats MOWC! What were they in such a hurry for the medals for?! Geez, I’d be saying “let me hit the porta potty first!!!”
There were only 48 runners who braved the half. There were more in the 5 and 10k. I finished 33rd I think and when I got there they were about ready for my age group- which was me!
Son ran 1:23 (not 1:24), which I think is good for today. I don’t think he dressed right- shorts and tshirt wasn’t enough even for a fast runner. He got cold.
Did a great Parallettes workout last night. Inching closer to the point where I will be doing flows from L-Sits swinging up to shoulder stands, then pressing to a hand stand and back down to an L-Sit. Afterwards, I did sets of chin-ups and dips using a weight belt to hang a 10 pound plate off me. It’s amazing how a measly 10 pounds can increase the difficulty so much.
Then today, I did a 60 mile bike ride with 5 members of the Sturdy Girls Race Team. It was glorious. Temperature in the low fifties, sunshine and great company. The best part was that even though I was riding with 5 people any one of whom could ride me into the weeds, there wasn’t a drop of testosterone poisoning in the air.
Wow. Getting cold during a half… not a good feeling. Your son did super, MOfWC! Running in cold weather is tricky!
We raked the leaves! The neighbors’ trees always dump their leaves onto our little development’ s private drive. Actually, Mr. played with the electric leaf blower I got for him on Amazon Prime day, and I stuffed the yard waste can. The highlight of the day was finding a weasel in the trap Mr. keeps out by the fence to catch cottontails. That thing was soooo cute! Gigabytes of photos followed by a video capture of the release. Mr. decided to let it out back in our backyard after reading how these animals prey on mice…
Big kudos to MOWC! Cold, uphill and windy doesn’t sound like fun IMO, even for a medal!
Sorry to read/hear about your hand, sabaray. This exercise stuff can be dangerous! We just heard our neighbor here at the beach broke her ankle (to the tune of 7 pins) falling while doing a rope climb during a workout.
Last day of this summer season at the beach – we’re headed back to MA this afternoon. We’ll be back here for Christmas and periodic visits to check on things during the winter. I’m ready for a little change of scenery, though.
Interesting article on carbohydrates and nutrition plans. Take away: if you want to build and maintain muscle and performance, do not eat low carb. If you want sustainable weight loss, do not eat low carb. If you have medical conditions that so warrant, then consider lower carbs.
