Very quick overnight trip to Baltimore. Since H is a late sleeper, I went to the hotel “Fitness Center” this morning. It was one of the very few times the temperature was actually quite cool – usually those places are way too warm.

Hand is much better. Tested out my new (used) mountain bike for my greenbrier trail trip next week. Other activity was carrying porch and deck furniture out to the back outbuilding. We are porch sitters so it was a sad day at our house.

The group I’m staying with next week has drinking as part of the daily activities. I’m pretty much a lightweight so I’ll probably be abstaining for the most part. Although I do want to try the moonshine that someone is purchasing from an area mountain lady. From what I’ve been told if it burns with a blue flame then you have high quality stuff!

“From what I’ve been told if it burns with a blue flame then you have high quality stuff!”

My grandfather used to say the same thing. Although he was not a drinker.

Raked leaves and stuffed the yard waste bin! Pulled some late bloomer weeds… Not a bad day. The yard looks better.

Good luck with that party crowd Ohio!! Glad to hear your hand is better.

That is a big beef that I (and others) have with our fitness center - too warm. If I don’t feel a coolness upon entering, I can expect to be sweating sooner rather than later.

Good job on the yard work BB - we are in prime leaf (falling) season here and it’s all we can do to try and get as many leaves out before the city does it’s first swipe of the curbs (full of leaves). We will end up mulching and bagging many of ours as we have lots of trees (double lot and corner) and some late dropping trees.

Gorgeous day here. I took a late afternoon walk & ended up going much further than I intended because I was listening to such a good episode of Radio Lab. Loving the podcasts! This episode was called “Gray’s Donation” in case anyone wants to check it out.

No bike ride today as DH sadly head out of town to attend the funeral for our friends’ beautiful daughter, who lost her battle with brain cancer this weekend. That is one angry foe, and their daughter, a lifelong athlete, gave it a good fight. Her family would take her to radiation appointments, she would do her session, then she’d go for a run afterwards.

My heart is very heavy this morning.

That is so sad. My thoughts are with you as you too mourn the loss.

That is so sad, Nrdsb4. I’m so sorry.

I was torn between the dreadmill and going outside in what looked to be possible rain this am. I wanted the fresh air, so I went out. It rained- not a downpour, but not wonderful. I had on a lightweight Lulu (not the new one) pullover that is supposedly water repellent. That is a stretch, but it did OK for the short distance (2 1/2 miles) I went. 50 degrees so not miserable. More tonight inside.

I’m so sorry nrdsb4.

After I saw the # on the scale this morning, I am going back on the food diary for awhile. Despite a lot of yoga and walking the number has inched up a few and I need to be more mindful of what I am eating.

I’m so sorry, Nrdsb4. So very hard to lose someone so young.

Chilly here this morning with frost - around 32 degrees. Didn’t wear my new pullover either. No rain, got in 5 miles. Legs were really feeling it. Don’t know if I can keep up with the combo class on Sunday - I might just change to straight TRX. The instructor who teaches the combo class most frequently has a dance background and there is just a little too much ballet in conjunction with the TRX segment. My legs are strong - I really need more upper body and core work and that seems to be lacking a bit. I’ll figure it out eventually.

I’m so sorry Nrdsb4.

So sad, Nrdsb4 - that will be a tough funeral.

Good plan FallGirl - I’ve been trying to watch things too a bit - better to be on the lower end of the scale before the holidays than not.

I find myself addicted to just a little bit of that morning fresh air to start my day. While I don’t usually run in the morning, I always walk the dog every morning - H knows that he is NOT to take over that walk because if I don’t get it, I’M grouchy!!! I just think that cool/cold air on the face - even in the winter is a wake up regimen.

That is extremely sad, Nrdsb. I’m so sorry.

Out downpour continues! I figured why I do not dread the dreadmill so much… I get exposed to fresh air every morning while I walk up the hill! Some streets I walk on are quiet and lined with pretty trees. I would not be a happy camper if I had to walk this distance on the main downtown streets, navigating around criwds of tourists and beggars.

Went to a lunchtime “20/20” class - 20 minutes of cardio core (squats, reaches, etc.) and then 20 minutes of weights and floor work. Abasket + exercise ball = HILARIOUS - “lay stretched out in a push up position with the ball on your feet/calves. Now pike your body and repeat 10 times” - I cannot even stay on the freakin ball!!!

It was actually a good class.

That’s funny, abasket. I’ve been there! It takes a lot of practice. I remember iDad got really good at it. :frowning:

I’m sorry to hear about this young lady, nrdsb4. So sad.

Glad to hear a positive report about your hand, Ohio. How was the new (used) bike? Moonshine only after the biking, right?

Abasket, that’s funny. Could you keep a straight face while being instructed in those moves?

I ran for 3.5 or 4 this AM. Still warm–84 degrees, 75% humidity, sunny. Let’s just say I had to work hard just to keep running and my face was very red at the end, but it’s done.

My fit kid, the baby, turned 21 today. How did he get so old?!!

The only thing that helped in my class is that I am easily 20 years older than all of the other people in the class - I may not be able to do well with the ball, but my cardio is STELLAR!!!

abasket, you should see me with the Bosu ball - the fails are Youtube worthy  . I refuse to deflate that thing a bit as some suggested, because to me, that would be cheating. So I try and fail. Fun.

I fell out of crow pose once in a yoga class and rolled completely onto someone else’s mat! I really ruined the karma! I couldn’t stop laughing.

Finally back to running this morning – 3.5+ miles. I felt all out of sync/stiff/uncoordinated. That’s what I get for being a slacker for the past several weeks. Tomorrow when I get back to the weights I’m also going to be in pain! I should know better than to take an extended break like this!! I’m in for trying to lose a few lbs before the holidays arrive.

Sorry to hear your news, Nrdsb4.
