I’ve recently decided that I don’t like the taste of diet Pepsi in cans anymore. I need fountain drinks or bottles. (same with Diet Coke). My bone doctor thinks my consumption is very moderate and hasn’t told me I have to completely abstain. I almost wish she had said to stop them totally. I have never found that the diet drinks make me crave sweets or increase my calories, though. I do know all the chemicals are terrible for me and the drinks are not good for my bone density, but I really don’t have that many. I do like tea, but it’s such a production and I don’t like it AS well!
2.2 miles early this morning with the headlamp because I had to be at a very, very important 8am meeting which, after I busted my butt to make sure I was easily in time, was cancelled. It was 29 degrees. I practically wore a snowsuit. Well- the older Lulu puff pullover. I love those things.
I drink mostly water and unsweetened ice tea, but sometimes you just want something fizzy and sweet!
I used to drink 3 or 4 cans a day (my company provided free soda), so instead of tossing the cans I started building a can pyramid on my desk. I got up to eleven layers tall, when I bumped my desk a little too hard and the whole thing came tumbling down in slow motion. It took about 30 seconds for the 12 cases of cans to hit the floor, and was quite loud. It was the best cube praire-dogging ever.
All this diet coke talk is making me crave a soda.
Strangely, all the talk about cookies and sodas makes me crave… a grilled cheese sandwich. I think I have successfully extracted my sweet tooth out for good!
So, I came to the gym, and decided to go to the older one because it was near where I had to run an errand. His one has old equipment so I had to bring an MP3 player to hear the tea. Put in a fresh ( I thought) battery. Did 2 miles walk/run on the treadmill when the MP3 battery died. Ok, am now on the stationary bike where I can read this thread and pedal.
And almost forgot. Fitbit battery is low and wasn’t registering my HR . But the treadmill did.
Fizzy and sweet? Try club soda (seltzer water) with a teaspoon of flavored syrup. Way less sugar!
I have always hated any kind of diet soda, but I love real Coke. I have the dental work to prove it too, which is why I went to a maximum of one Coke a week back when I was pregnant with DD (1985). These days Coke tastes way too sweet, so I drink it cut with seltzer water, about 1/4 Coke, 3/4s seltzer. Even then it’s pretty rare. My cold drinks of choice are iced tea (before 2 PM) or seltzer with lime (after 2 PM).
Jym, do you have a smart phone??? You can download the C25K app and not have to devise a plan - it’s planned out for you! You’ll just be doing it on the elliptical instead of the pavement!
I do go to a trainer once a week. Hopefully I will improve. And, I have a goal. Hope it is a motivator. I just did an hour. 20 min on treadmill (2 mi) 20 on bike (3.75 mi) and 20 on upper and lower body machines. Oh, and now I am accountable to you guys!!
I can read a thread on the stationery bike. And dictate a post. And when I change machines.
Hey, I was pretty proud of myself for what I did today! Picked up fruits and veggies at Trader Joe’s afterwards.
@jym626, your trainer should be able to assess you and write up an eliptical program for you. If you do not want to follow a written program per se, the Wahoo TickRx heart rate strap not only monitors your heart rate but when paired with the Wahoo software on a smartphone, will actually guide you through a structured cardio routine based on general goals you input. May be worth looking at.
2 tsp. Vanilla
(3) Mix Separately in a very large bowl
5 cups Oatmeal
4 cups Flour (I hand stir in)
1 tsp. Salt
2 tsp. Baking Powder
2 tsp. Baking Soda
(4) Mix together 1, 2, 3
(5) Add to the mix
24 oz Chocolate Chips
8 oz Hershey Bar, grated (I used Hershey Chips)
3 cups Chopped Nuts (I used Pecans)
Place golf ball sized dough on ungreased cookie sheet (I put one dozen on each sheet) – I found it easiest/quickest to use a teaspoon and my hand.
Bake at 375 degrees for 6 min (I used convection baking and it took 7 min in my oven). When golden brown, they are done.
I used a regular table knife to loosen each cookie from the cookie sheet and then slid onto cooling rack. Sometimes the chocolate makes them a little sticky.
If you make very small cookies, you may have 112 (so says the recipe). I had more than 4 dozen decent sized cookies
Lots of running around outside trying to get the outside lights, wreaths etc. set up after work today. I literally threw on my sports bra and shoes (and other clothes on top) and ran out for 3 miles before dark set in. It was one of the easiest 3 miles EVER! Why does that always happen when it’s getting truly dark and I need to wrap it up!!? I just really like the dusk running!
