Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Sabaray, the chocolate binge is unusual in that I am not generally into candy and sweets. Halloween started a backslide that is befuddling and aggravating. OTOH, I can eat pasta until the cows come home. After the coma, it was like my brain had been cleared of the urges to eat junk food and it was easy to eat clean. My problem seems to be that once I get a taste, it’s burned into my brain and I can’t let it go again. I don’t want to spend the rest of my life eating a short list of plain foods, but it is darned hard to deal with family, friends and restaurants when so much activity revolves around food.

And on that note, I am heading to cardiac rehab.

^^ That’s awful C3Baker. Good health should never be taken for granted.

Cross-posted. ALS is such a terrible disease.

That’s so sad, C3Baker.

C3B- that travel just sounds exhausting. I have to hand it to you for being able to do ANYTHING! I’m so sorry about your coworker. That’s just awful.

ALS is such an unkind disease. So sorry. And what a travel schedule!
Back from the trainer (I do an hour on Mondays) but I will try to do more during the rest of the week. The ski trip is shaping up well and I want to try to keep up with the rest of the family!

Ok, jym! Mission Possible! great job.

I feel like a slug today. The weather is really awful, and Mr. is at a work function. For a minute I thought about hopping on the treadmill, but then decided to torture myself on the Bosu ball.

Occasional slugdom is just fine, BB. At least you didn’t gorge on NY style pizza.

Sorry to hear about your friend, C3Baker. So sad.

Good job, jym! Your ski trip will be a blast.

CountingDown, resist! I know too well that chocolate chips are tough because it’s so darned easy to rationalize having just a few, and then…Maybe you could store them in the freezer, where they’d be less tempting to snack on? Hope your cardiac rehab session went well.

I was able to get out for a little walking today, but it was day one of the re-roofing and I thought I needed to be around. The noise of it all is something else.

Birthday today. So I celebrated with a 3 hour workout. Stretch, core, strength, weight workout for about an hour. 45 minutes of spinning class with no loafing. 3 mile run with last mile at 5:50 on treadmill. 15 minute swim. Steam, sauna, shower and weight scale - 142 ibs. Hope to get it down to below 140 by New Years and hopefully 132-135 racing weight by March. I probably gained 2lbs back by eating 1/2 of a cherry pie after dinner that my wife bought me.

Glad you enjoyed your birthday ohio!

Well, I really enjoyed my Barre class. It was very fast paced and flowed quickly from movement to movement - I think I am well conditioned for this type of exercise due to Pilates. My heart rate was definitely elevated! I suspect there are many different methods or types of Barre class - this was a good fit for me. No soreness today at all.

Just back from the gym, inspired by @jym626 I spent some time with my old friend the elliptical. I took note of the digital readouts - in 35 minutes the treadmill insisted I had done 2.7 miles. It also informed me my heart rate was a low of 58 but a high of 200. Don’t think that happened.

Happy Birthday Ohio!

I’m sorry to hear about your friend C3B. ALS took my oldest brother 14 years ago this month.

Happy birthday ohiopublic

A cherry pie is the PERFECT way to celebrate a birthday Ohio! That would be my dessert of choice!! (so what is happening to the other half of that pie…???)

If I were to fantasize about pies, mine would be coconut cream pie. And I usually don’t go for coconut.

4 miles this morning and that will be it for the day. I have a law firm event at a nail salon after work- wine, snacks and pedicures! Hosted by a top employment law firm. It’s always fun.

I like pumpkin pie or blackberry.

Happy birthday, ohio!

I never really liked cakes and have always been fond of fruit pies. My guess is the other 1/2 doesn’t last past tonight. Based on the myfitnesspal estimate of 340 calories per slice (8 total) means that I have to reduce calories and or increase workouts to allot for the extra 2720 calories for this week!

Happy birthday, ohio!

Sorry to hear about your friend, C3B – and your brother, Fallgirl.

I love apple pies.

Just came back from an hour swim. And my new Fitbit was just delivered, so I have a new toy.

Sabaray, glad you liked barre. I’ve never done pilates, so maybe that’s the difference. I liked it, but since I need to do weight-bearing exercise, running and weights and yoga are a priority for me.
