Omg,I synched MindBody with my Fitbit so I know exactly how many calories I burned in OrangeTheory and in CorePower Yoga. I think I’m in love
8.2 miles. 40 and sunny by the time I got out there. I am still getting over a cold, and had the race yesterday, so I tried to take it easy. That worked for about 5 miles, then I was out of gas. I made it back to the car with a few stops to regroup. Some days are like that. It was pretty out there, though.
Did a yoga class (flow) this am–tons of new people. It should empty out in the next week or so. Came back and walked the dog for a two miles (total).
My sympathies to those of you who are regular gym goers and class attendees who now have to deal with the “Januaries”, which is what we call the resolutionists who are now at the gym- temporarily.
I am thinking of joining the 2016 club but it will mostly be walking. A couple of years ago, I lost 40 pounds and re-gained it and then 7 more. I plan to get back down again because I feel pretty crummy lugging the big behind and belly around.
My streaks are going to be: days without soda, days staying off the scale and a daily walk.
3 mile walk up to the Farmer’s Market today. I am very tempted to join the 2016 mile club, but I think that just may be undoable for me. I think I would reach close to 1000 with running miles, then would need to walk the rest. Hmmm, may need to do some calculations.
Is it OK to use my daily step count rather than “dedicated” walking times? If so, I think I should be able to hit it, but I’m not sure if that is outside the “spirit” of the event.
Why we all love our gyms in January:

Gertrude- I think that would be fine. It seems like it’s really up to each person to figure out what would challenge him or her. I think the daily step count is what a lot of people will do. Since I hope to run 1650 or so, I’m going to deduct some from my daily step count but not only count dedicated walks or hikes.
I am hoping the snow holds off till later in January when the resolution-ers start tapering off.
I will definitely use my Fitbit steps. Like MOWC, (but a higher % of walking for me) I intend to choose a percentage of my daily steps. Minus my running mileage and then minus a % so that steps to the copy machine are not as likely to be counted.
I haven’t officially signed up yet, Will we be manually adding in our miles???

A tracker comes with it where you enter your miles every day.
MOWC - I thought you might ditch your Fitbit/vivofit when you got your garmin 235 since it has an activity step counter. Nice thing I like about it is that doesn’t double dip the running AND the steps since it is on the same device.
I got my first VO2 max estimate of 48 and was wondering if my incorrect weight (I’m 146 vs 140 lbs) caused my VO2 Max to decline since the Garmin/First Beat VO2 algorithm uses inputted physical information? Plus I was only going at an 8:30 pace? Wondering if increasing pace and inputting correct weight will improve VO2 Max score?
Ohio, here’s a short article on VO2 max that might clarify things for you.

OK - All signed up! I just signed up for the basic program. It looks like I can buy a medal at the end of the year if I actually pull this off! At least we have one extra day in 2016 (leap year!) :-*
Yay! This will be fun.
Ohio- I could have, but I don’t really want to wear the 235 as my watch- to work, etc. I like the FitBit app, too.
2016, I’m in, signed up
With all of the walking I do, I hope I can get the mileage in one way or another.
That said, today I mostly walked 6 miles. I was with my husband and ran maybe 3/4 mile before continuing to walk with him. I also did my planks, push-ups, little arm weights for the biceps and shoulders. Let the streak continue. Now I need to figure out how to log miles.
5.52 miles per day…well, if I can manage that, I can get myself back on track! The past two months have been terrible. Self-control flew out the window. I fell last week in GA on my dad’s deck ramp – it is way too steep to ever pass an inspection, and it had gotten fuzzy and slippery after many years of not being cleaned. The surface was like ice (only it was 80 degrees), and I slipped, landing on my back end, head/neck and hand. I am having a lot of trouble going up and down the stairs now – it’s not the knees. It feels like my hips are not supporting my legs when the leg comes down on to the step. My knee surgery is Thursday.
DH got me a birthday present for the first time in five years – Samsung Gear Fit. It is a lot more accurate in counting steps than my Vivofit. Reality check!
