It turns out that it isn’t working so well for me to have the mini-M&M dispenser (looks like a gumball dispenser) on my desk that I got as a business gift. I kept it out for “visitors to my office.” Serious eating fail.
Perhaps fill it with your daily allotment each morning?
Wonder what a “serving size” of M and M’s is???
M&M terrorism! My epic eating fail during this vacation was a slice of Hula pie. That thing is deadly:

I am one of those people who just can’t keep candy on my desk.
We have a big container of candy in one of our work rooms. It’s a very popular work room. Avoiding it is really, really difficult.
These are mini M&Ms (not Mars brand) and it feels like you aren’t eating anything- but you are, of course.
Bunsen Burner, WHOA on the hula pie!!
Sabaray, I am thinking that I don’t want a personal trainer. I’m probably too much of a medical zebra for that. A good friend of mine swears by hers, though. OTOH, more machines and cyber-arc would be good. I can also get there and start working out while I am doing PT on my knee. Cardiac rehab’s not going to let me back for at least a month. They are really paranoid about fall risk.
1 1/2 hours on bike trainer 135 hr. Like the convenience of the trainer at my office and riding my own bike.
Lol, CD! There were 3 of us digging into that slice of heaven.
And I think the slices got skinnier in the past year or so, but it was still an epic eating fail!
It sounds SO delicious, though, Bunsen. Fail away!
I have never heard of hula pie…
I think Ohiopublic burned enough calories for a slice!!!
6 miles of step walking and 15 minutes of squat/weight work plus 20 push ups!
My food guilt of the day…I made homemade pizza - doesn’t have to be a big fail…but…I think the crust was meant for TWO pizzas - so really thick. I kept it to one nice sized piece, but that was too much crust for pizza!
Oh and my new food snack of 2016…carrot chips - not regular carrots, not baby carrots, not dried carrots, but carrots cut into chip shapes (but still raw) - I just like the texture, I like eating them alone or with some thinly shaved sharp cheddar - or a yogurt dip. Nice change!
Those sound really good, abasket. So does the pizza!
We used to have an M&M machine. It had to go away!!!
I started a long walk today, but ended up trotting (?)/jogging to warm up. My phone’s gps mileage tracking app is really messed up by the lousy service and cold, but it says I went about six miles. I was wearing leggings under jeans, over-the-knee wool socks, borrowed boots, my Patagonia sunscreen shirt under an old thermal top under a light flannel shirt under my Florida neighbor’s old winter coat with a hat, scarf, and my son’s old ski gloves. Whew–I felt like such a roly poly but with the jogging I stayed warm enough. We tried to rent cross country ski equipment but they in the position of authority said it was too cold at the trail place, and feared we might fail in the elements. Whatever. We got a bit of new snow so I’m hoping tomorrow will be a go. Did some weights at the gym later in the afternoon.
Tuna casserole for dinner. Comfort food!
@Nrdsb4, shoulder and clavicle injuries are the most common injuries in cycling and are particularly prevalent if you get launched forward as you were. Given that you ant raise your arm, I would definitely recommend getting an MRI.
Regarding Planet Fitness, you get what you pay for. At $10/month memberships, you are not going to have the level of supervision, trained staff and equipment maintenance that you will find at other facilities. It can work for those who know their way around a gym and machines; not the best for those who need professional quality assistance in learning how to use the equipment or in setting up a program.
For those with medical issues who are contemplating the value and efficacy of using a trainer, not all trainers are created equal :). Look for a trainer who has certifications and experience in working with rehabilitation and medical issues including cardio vascular disease, metabolic diseases, skeletal and muscular issues etc. Beyond basic personal training certifications, there are advanced specialty certifications that provide the qualifications to address those issues and work with health care providers.
@abasket, I love those carrot chips! Particularly with hummus.
I hope you get some skiing in, PlantMom. It looks really cold there!
Warmed up a little this morning, got 5.5 miles in, which felt pretty good. Nice, relaxed run. Time for a pup walk!
Those carrot chips do sound really good!
I’m fighting a major case of the "Don’t Wanna"s this morning. I may skip this AM’s run & use the treadmill at work later.
Lots of hill powerwalking last night!
Plus my 20-20 pushups.
Noticed that the prof was pacing around the room while teaching the class last night… Someone’s got a Fitbit for Christmas, lol!
@MichaelNKat, what is your opinion on weight machines?
That’s funny, Bunsen. Sometimes you can tell the FitBit folks! I’ve been asked (here at work) if I’m looking for a particular conference room and I just say, “No, I’m just walking my steps!”
3 miles this morning. It really does help me to get outside in the fresh air. 32 degrees but no wind. Felt nice once I got out of the house. I’ve been eating too much sugar and it doesn’t help how I feel overall. Got to cut that out.
