A very cold 12.3 mile run this morning. It was hard. The temp was 18 degrees with a light wind. It was harder than usual, I think because of the cold. I’m regretting having signed up for that marathon in April, I just think it’s going to be hard to get the long runs in during the winter. Although H is reminding me that not every week will be like today.
Gosh, stay safe in all that snow. Take it easy with the shoveling, everyone. And MOWC, stick with the treadmill until the snow is gone! The last thing you need is another injury.
BB-I was in the same boat not wanting to get out of my warm bed this morning. The dog provided some encouragement, haha.
4 miles on the treadmill watching a close Georgetown-UConn game. No skin in it, so I didn’t have to be a nervous wreck. 6.2 mile day. I really wanted an 8 mile day today, but I had enough of the treadmill and I’m not sure I have it in me to do more later.
@ohiopublic I have been building up to it starting in November with 15-20 mpw and a 6-8 mile long run and am now doing 33-36 mpw.
@MomofWildChild my 5k PR is 22:13, so most conversion charts say I could run in the 1:45 - 1:52 range. That seems a little fast, though. What would be a good conservative estimate? Under 2 hours?
I second that - under 2 is a good goal. And please let your body rest a bit before the half. Running 12 miles 7 days before the race may not be optimal.
24 inches of snow and still coming down. What a lazy day today. Cleaned the oven, vacuumed my studio, read books. Will do an indoor ride soon, and afterwards, snow removal time! Tomorrow, X country skiing and hot chocolate
Mr. Sabaray and I made the rounds at our older neighbors - I did some shoveling while Mr. ran the blower. Walked the pups and had several play sessions in the backyard. Getting through that snow is hard work!
The studio sent me two videos of home workouts to do, which I thought was really great! If I can’t hit the treadmill tomorrow, I have my favorite instructor to lead me through a workout.
No snow here (sorry) - did weights, yoga and it was so pleasant out I walked around a nearby downtown area to get my steps. Stay safe and warm all of you in the path of the storm!
Shoveling is a great workout! Stay warm and take care of your backs, everyone.
My husband and I went to the gym today-his suggestion, yay! Even though I ran outside yesterday, I decided run again today on the treadmill-- 4.1 miles. Followed up with upper body weights and stretching. Walked an additional 2.4 outside. In an attempt to use up various pantry and freezer foods, I had defrosted a post-Thanksgiving sale turkey for a turkey feast tonight with: the bird, a fruit and nut whole wheat bread dressing, pan roasted brussels sprouts, mashed acorn squash, and salad of baby kale and arugula from the garden. I kept the meal healthier with no gravy, no mashed potatoes, and plenty of olive oil.
Entire carne asada burrito last night, big plate of pad Thai tonight. I ran 8 miles this morning, but that’s not going to cover it. Oh well at least it was fun.
I don’t cook- well, hardly ever- but I made a meatloaf tonight. My mother’s old recipe. We had some fresh squash and avocado with it. It was really good.
I was so afraid my shoulders and arms would be sore today but I feel great (which is good because we need one more round on the driveway). I honestly think it’s the benefits of my regular yoga practice.
