Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

We need to find a race near PlantMom so she can cook dinner for all of us! Yum. Nothing like inviting yourself over, is there?

Yesterday’s dinner was pork carnitas with rice, mixed greens with avocado vinaigrette. I have been using Frontera products for a while - everything I’ve used has been very low sugar and they are delicious.

I did not sleep well last night - plows kicked into gear in the wee hours. I saw so many people doing the stupidest things yesterday - mainly related to sledding. I took the pups for the briefest of walks yesterday and we had a big romp in the backyard this morning. My arms are tired from throwing their toys! They love it, but they get tired. True weekend warriors!

It was 13 degrees this morning and the neighborhood roads are solid, choppy ice. Treadmill for 3.3 on tired legs to finish up the week. I am going to Florida on Tuesday, so I’ll get back outside. This is going to melt some today, but will re-freeze tonight and still be too dangerous to run.

It’s sunny today. I am eyeing the hourly forecast and see that 3pm will be the warmest hour of the day - 33 - so I’m planning on heading out then. Funny to be on the opposite end of this thread - with snow/ice not being a problem today!

So today I’m also painting my son’s old room. Didn’t want to risk getting paint on my Fitbit (wrist) but also didn’t want all that not-legit stepping (as much as I would be moving my arms!) so I’ve compromised by adding the Fitbit under my clothing on my sports bra strap! Don’t want to waste the legit steps either!!!

Yeehaaa! I ran a very flat 5k this morning here in Palm Springs (where we are avoiding all the Northwest rain and having a cycling-and-running-and-swimming vacation) and set a new PR under thirty minutes: 29:54. I’ve never been to a race with this much swag. Free finishers photo, finishers medal, another medal for third in my age group, two water bottles (yes, two), dog treats, and two (yes, two) t-shirts. I skipped the offers for free days at Crossfit and the climbing gym, too.

Congrats on the PR, DMD! Sounds like a great race with so much fun swag.

It’s bright and sunny here, but still cold. Took the dog on a 5 mile walk earlier so I have my steps in for the day. The rest of the day is watching basketball and then football. Chili for dinner, our favorite football meal.

Congrats on the PR DMD! Excellent!

Way to go, dmd! Congrats. It sounds like a runner’s race from heaven - so much good swag.

Congrats dmd!

A few more rounds of shoveling today. Also took out my mat and ran through a short (30 min) yoga practice.

Wow, DMD congrats to you and your legs and feet!!! I think that is a benchmark for many - under 30 minute 5k!

Yoga on Saturday and a rest day today. New England was spared the mega-snow that hit other parts of the country–only got 2-4 inches yesterday afternoon/evening.

Congrats on your time DMD.

4 miles outside, 34 and sun to start, clouds to end! Was thinking of many of you and how our outside currently looks different than yours!

Good job, DMD! Nice work on all the shoveling, if it applies.

And of course, you’re welcome to dinner here in Florida  I can never predict how well these meals will turn out, but I try.

It was chilly here today–low 30’s when we got up this morning. Did a walk/jog outing for 5.5 miles wearing a bunch of skimpy layers and a ski hat. Our cold weather attire here is lame  The residents joke that you can always spot the Floridians in cold weather because they wear all the clothes in their entire wardrobe at one time, layer upon layer.

In spite of accuracy debates, I decided to get a FitBit today. I’m sporting the Charge HR in plum. I took a spin around a known distance, and the device did okay. The heart rate data seems okay.as well. I’d just like a rough and reasonable estimate of these things, anyway, so I’m hoping this will be okay. Questions about its operation are sure to follow.

I don’t have the HR, but I really like my FitBit. Welcome to the dark side.

Congratulations on the PR DMD!

Spent 3 hrs shoveling 2 feet of snow this morning. Then this afternoon went X country skiing. Much prefer the latter over the former :skier:

That’s a good day’s work MK!

Welcome to Fitbit world Plantmom! Remember that you can change setting and such to your personal desires. You can raise or lower your goal minimum steps for the day. You can add in non-stepped activity if you want. I enjoy the weekly summary!

And you can connect with some of us on FitBit. PM me if you want to connect. I forget what you have to know.

Congrats dmd - great time!

Congrats dmd!

Blech. Rough few days.

I woke up at 3:30 Friday morning with nausea, but it went away and I was fine and did yoga. Same thing happened Saturday, but the nausea didn’t go away – although I managed a quick walk. Sunday was worse, and I started cramping, too, and I did nothing all day.

I upped my dose of Vitamin D last week on advise from my osteoporosis specialist – and so I did a google search for Vitamin D and nausea. I saw lots of people asking that question, but no real good answers. So I’m wondering if that’s it. It’s gone on too long to be food poisoning. No fever. I’ve been living on bananas and crackers. Calling the doc this morning. And no, I am not pregnant!!!

Hope you feel better soon, fireandrain.

Still no getting out with 30" of snow in my street and no plow in sight. Ran/walked on the treadmill this AM and plan to help H shovel off the deck. Plan to stream a yoga video later.

It’s a really beautiful day and not too cold. I would love to walk around my neighborhood, but it’s not possible.Friends have posted on FB, they are out on snowshoes or cc skis. I wish I had some!
