How high did you go to? Are you taking an oil-based form or a powder?

Vitamin D is so cheap that if that is what you think is doing it, toss the rest of the bottle and buy another brand and see what happens. Or get a high dose gelcap (like 5000 IU) and take it every few days. You can actually take it once a week or even once a month if you take a large amount.

abasket, I feel like such a slacker. I need to do a lot more. I also need to get out of the house, as I’m craving carbs, carbs, carbs. S2 made lemon bars Saturday night. They didn’t last long, and it wasn’t just his fault.

CD, no, you are NOT a slacker.

Kudos to Mr. who decided to exercise while I am slowly making my way home. I will have to supplement my city hill climb with some waltzing around the kitchen while making dinner. Salmon and green salad are in the plans.

You all are doing so well! I feel like a real slacker reading all of these posts but I am exhausted. Tough Pilates class yesterday - Pizzagirl, I don’t know how you do so many classes in one day!

CD- you are doing great!

I need to google DaVinci Bodyboard. I keep picturing a waterboard, but that can’t be right.

Sabaray - they are just spaced out. 7 am Pilates, 9:45 am DaVinci, 12 yoga. Running leisurely errands in between. I’m aware it’s a luxury at this point. 3 more weeks and totally done with work.

Fall girl - picture a long thin board to which resistance bands are attached down the side - also stretchy straps for arms and ankle straps for feet. So you can do pretty much any move you could do in yoga or Pilates or just general calisthenics (squats, leg lifts, etc) but with resistance added in different ways. You can be standing, lying down, on all fours, etc. it’s probably gimmicky but I’m ok with that. Right now I take 1 class a week but once I retire that goes up to 3. It’s strength training that gets the heart rate up, so I don’t do it the same day I do “straight” weights. Which I now need to get out of bed and get dressed for so I’m not late

This is the youtube I watched yesterday to discover DaVinci - is this accurate PG??? (hope it’s ok to post a youtube - I forget the rules on that!)

New strength workout- trying to get my compression socks off in the Ft Lauderdale airport!

Reasonably accurate - not exactly the moves we do, but it gives you the general gist of what the board is and how it can be used. Moving around with those resistance bands is a lot harder than it looks. It’s a fun way (for me) to do resistance band training, which augments what I do with free weights / machines 3x/week.

Workout today: power class (free weights–1 hour) followed by 1 hour on the treadmill. I did the incline workout my trainer recommended previously. On Sunday I went to a slow flow yoga class. I had planned on going to yoga on Monday as well, but gave a friend of mine (who is in treatment for ovarian cancer) a ride to her chemo treatment (her husband had an emergency meeting at work). By the time we got back, I couldn’t make it to yoga on time.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a yoga CD or on You-tube so I could practice on my own.

Bromfield I just googled it and ended up doing a 30 minute routine from eFit3. It was very much for beginners ( my classes are much more challenging as well as longer) but it was ok , I just wanted to do some stretching until I can get to classes again.

Walked /ran on the treadmill this AM. Can’t remember who posted a link a few days back about running habits ( abasket was that you?) , but want to thank whoever it was b/c it made me realize that I am clenching my fists while running. Am trying to nip that in the bud.

@notrichenough What’s the difference between powder and oil-based? Is one better than the other?

Bromfield, do you happen to have Amazon Prime? I’ve been enjoying the free exercise videos from GymBox. There is at least one yoga one - free with Prime.

Yes, that was I who posted the running tips - and last night when I ran I tried to be conscious of my fists. It helped to take my middle finger and tuck in inward to the palm of my hand .

There is an article about Vitamin D in today’s WSJ that is really good. Personal Journal section.

Got to Key Largo about 3:30 and the 4 old men went off to ride about 30 miles. I ran 5 and it’s sure flat- but I need to adjust to the warm weather and humidity. It felt good to not have a ton of clothes on, though. 6 mile day. It’s been a long day. Late lunch at Denny’s wasn’t exactly great dining, but we’ll have good seafood tonight.

1 1/2 hours on the trainer. I bought a bike stand and replaced the cables on on upright 10 speed road bike that I’m going to keep at the office. I have around 10 other bikes in the shed that are in need some state of repair. Going to be my winter hobby. Think I’ll give them away at church when finished.

Lots of walking outside today–9.4 miles. I noticed my first fitbit distance discrepancy today. I had tried to link the fitbit to my phone as I did yesterday so I could track the mileage with the phone’s gps. Unfortunately, the fitbit app wouldn’t play the podcast I was listening to, so I unlinked the devices. At the end of my walk, my phone gps read a normal 4.6 miles, while the fitbit pedometer estimate was almost a mile low at 3.7 miles. I guess I need to adjust my pace distance.

Plantmom, I’ve noticed sometimes that if I’m trying to use Spotify with another app that sometimes I need to start one over the other to make it work - play around with that.

I use Runkeeper for runs – and walks - and of course my Fitbit is recording - I have found the step count to be reasonably close between the two - Runkeeper uses GPS.

A cold and very windy 3.3 mile run completed with our running club. We haven’t met since before Christmas so it was nice to catch up with everyone. The section of the trail when we were running into the wind was just crazy. I felt like one of those cartoon characters pumping away and going nowhere!

MOWC-enjoy those nice warm temperatures! And the seafood too!

Good Vitamin D article MOWC. Another good article in the same section on Tayshaun Prince’s key to longevity. The Timberwolves trainer has some interesting exercise and balance routines. And of course diet is critical. Also a good sidebar article on bath soak recipes.

MOWC - the D article says that soaking up the rays are good for you!

Yes! Sunshine! I’m glad my employer pays for my WSJ so I can get health and fitness advice!
