Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Bummer Deb. Good time for your snow to melt I guess - be careful on that foot!

Wow Plantmom, I’m impressed! I don’t have the motivation for that distance! I also don’t usually have large blocks of time that I could take the time for 9 miles! Do you go to a park/trail to do that distance of a run? I mean, I could run to the next town with 9 miles!!!

MOWC, I hope you feel better!
Deb, I hope you, too, feel better. I’m not sure where you’re hurting but I used to do exercises to help my plantar fasciitis and they were really helpful. Maybe those types of exercises would help you, too?

I started PT today and dang I am sore! They just worked on my knees/legs but it feels like I ran a mile lol.

I went to the walk-in clinic at the urging of my co-workers. I got an inhaler, some cough pearls and an antibiotic that I’m not to start unless I’m not doing better in a couple of days. I did a rare streak-mile day (well, 1.5). That’s all I could make myself do today. Step count is going to hit 10000, but barely.

Wow, those leggings are expensive. I’m not a fan of patterned leggings – they make the legs of even skinny people look bigger. It’s all personal preference – but they are definitely not for me.

I’m just back from DC and really looking forward to swimming tomorrow.

And I need to make a trip to Costco. I’ll make sure to measure my steps when I do!

All those people with colds – get better soon!

MOWC I hope it’s really just a cold and not bronchitis or pneumonia :frowning:

Sorry to hear your foot isn’t improving, deb922. And all those colds: begone!!!

Glad you got a good PT session, romani.

abasket, believe it or not, I did the 9 miles in our subdivision–it’s huge. I could easily have worked in a half marathon of miles, had I been inclined or capable (NOT).

Lol, there is the benefit of sprawl! Where I live, I experimentally determined that I could run 2/3 of a marathon without encountering a single traffic light. I could have ran more… but I froze to almost hypothermia that day and finished the last couple of miles on my treadmill. We have access to a very nice riverside trail, but one really needs to hop in a car and drive to get there from our neck of the woods.

Just as a head’s up to everyone: it looks like Norovirus is hitting a lot of areas hard. We just got word that over 100 students have sought treatment at my uni in the last few days so who knows how many are actually sick.

It spreads really, really easily and it sucks to get. Luckily it only lasts about a day or so but still. Stay safe everyone and remember to practice good handwashing!

Looked at the Tory Burch leggings and fell in love. Thankfully, before I could find my credit card, I remembered that I don’t actually like full length leggings for working out, just for walking around. And they don’t seem to have pockets. Went off and looked at the Black Milk leggings my daughter wears to see if there was anything I really liked. Contemplating these: https://us.blackmilkclothing.com/collections/leggings/products/midnight-hummingbird-combat-pants

Feeling virtuous today. I swam, groomed my dogs, mowed my tiny little lawn, did some yard clean up, and vacuumed. It’s now pouring rain, so I have an excuse not to walk the dogs–at least not right away.

Those are fun pants, dmd - I say go for it!

In big, big news - a Lulu is opening less than an hour from me! That should deter me from getting donuts as Lulu is very, very close to the world’s best donut shop. Mr. Sabaray prefers the donuts as they are a tad bit less expensive.

Sabapup and I have returned from our walk - me to finish getting my steps in, her to get a little extra exercise. That was it for exercise today - pup walks. Pilates training tomorrow, which I am looking forward to.

Down in Florida staying with my dad and his lady friend (I wish I had a better word for this). She is very active and we are going to go to the fitness center tomorrow morning for yoga and Pilates. It’s a 1.6 mile walk each way. Yay!

There’s also an Orange Theory near here so I may book a session. But most importantly my dad is treating me to a massage

Sabaray- great news about the Lulu! dmd- those look like great leggings.

Romani- hope your PT helps. It should!
Yeah- my colds are usually bronchitis. That’s why I went in on the early side of the misery.

So sorry about the bronchitis

Hope you feel better MOWC.

AM yoga and then work from home.

Hope everyone feels better.

Sorry to hear about everyone battling colds. This winter weather drags on and drags us all down with it. Knock on wood, H and I have been lucky so far and have escaped getting sick.

Yesterday was a good day all around and I managed to get a 4 mile run squeezed in after work and before a hair appointment last night. I was glad to get the miles in. Tonight is a workout at the gym with my trainer. We’re running in the Polar Bear run on Saturday. They have a 5K and a 5 mile race, and we’re doing the Doubler which will have us running both. It’s going to be in the 40s, so much better than last year when it was cold and very snowy. Much of the course was on streets that hadn’t been plowed and we were running through several inches of snow/slush. I am looking forward to clear streets this year!

Pizzagirl-glad that you are enjoying your time down in Florida. My mom had a “gentleman friend” for many years - he was great and we all loved him. But I agree that the wording lady friend and gentleman friend is just really awkward.

I hope today finds everyone feeling better. I’ve been fortunate as well - no colds to speak of. I hope that continues. I am really envious of everyone enjoying warmer weather! 40 sounds positively balmy for your race, C3B!

Pilates training this morning - mostly worked on the Cadillac doing a lot of hip openers, footwork, obliques - so hard but I always feel so much better when I’m done. I am taking a break from the circuit class this week - give my body some time to recover as I have a longer run planned for Saturday.

I tried to sign up for a water class for people with arthritic joints. Turns out it’s only for people 55+.

I’m a little sad :frowning:

What?! The condition should set the stage not the age! Maybe if you explain your situation they will welcome you. That’s a situation where the class planners are wearing blinders!

Slept like a rock last night and while not perfect by any means, hoping that I have my cold under control. We shall see. Driving out of town this afternoon for an all day meeting tomorrow. Going to have to keep myself awake and alert with a nice chai latte and a little snack in the car. Maybe will get a walk in later today but my activity is going to be limited for today and tomorrow - just going to have to be that way! Work has to come first in this situation so I can’t compromise on my rest or work prep . Will have to do!

Did yoga and then Pilates with the “old people” - actually a lot of them look great, and great for them.
