Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Looks like there isn’t a new update for my non HR Charge. My new Alta should arrive any day. My stairs did well in hilly Stan and with real stairs, but way off here in FL.

All female tris sound like a much better way to start. Pam spray? Interesting. Well if it works for frying pans, why not us?

Bus, this is probaby the closest to Seattle tri - it is a sprint and ladies only:

MOfWC, Fitbits do not do well in windy places. A gust of wind can create a local pressure drop significant enough for a Fitbit to register a rise in elevation. It was fairly windy here, so I went up a few floors without actually gaining a foot in elevation.

17,000 steps without a single run yesterday. Mr. wanted to add a few floors to our fake floors, so just before the midnight we went up the stairs to our ninth floor, went down, and then up again. Phew.

I don’t think my fitbit is tracking my steps correctly. I walked around the house twice yesterday and the step count didn’t change at all. Oh well.

Better day today. Less pain. I’m going to take it easy today though instead of trying to push myself.

My wonderful, soon to be sister-in-law brought me over a bunch of homemade food yesterday so I didn’t have to cook (not that I cook anyway, but I always appreciate food!)

Thanks for the link, Bunsen! However, 750 m swim is almost half a mile and I’m probably at the dog paddle stage. Maybe in August I’ll be ready for an Iron baby tri. Where I can wear flippers and floaties. And a life jacket.

Thanks for the info re: the Fitbit update. Mine is updating as I type. I didn’t get the notice, but found the place on the app to click to force it. If anyone has issues with a Fitbit, as an FYI their customer service is great. D has gone through numerous Fitbit Flexes – they just keep sending her a replacement at no charge. You can also try the Fitbit Forums to see if the issue can be resolved that way.

MOWC – will be interested to hear how you like the Alta. Of course I really can’t justify getting that since my Charge HR works just fine – but it looks pretty cool, IMO.

Still some twinges in my foot, but it’s a beautiful, sunny day, so will be taking the dog for a walk a little later.

Thanks, Bunsen. I bet the wind was part of the problem, although it wasn’t windy during my runs. It was on the beach, though.

My fitbit was fine before the update - it seems to be counting steps, but no longer recognizing active minutes or classes. I have zero active minutes for today, when in fact I had two vigorous dog walks and a TRX/Pilates circuit class. I’m not sure what they think active is!

Half marathon #2 in the bag. It was a terrific race - perfect weather & good company. My fastest miles were 2 & 3, followed by 12 & 13 - still had some in the tank toward the end, unlike my first half. I feel like I’m getting stronger! On that note, I hope I can walk tomorrow.

Congrats, Gertrude! Isn’t that a good feeling!

I just checked mine since the update - it’s recording active minutes, steps and everything for me. That’s weird Sabaray.

Excellent job, Gertrude!!

Wow Gertrude to have those quick miles near the end - I’m fully impressed!

(and hope you can walk tomorrow!)

I can’t get my Fitbit to update – I’ve tried several times but it just errors out. (Yeah, I know that’s not a word, but it IS descriptive.) I guess I’ll just try tomorrow and see what happens.

Dog walk done. She’s happy; I’m miffed that my foot still bothers me some.

Good job, Gertrude!!

I updated my fitbit without any trouble a few days ago. So far, so good.

We took an 8.5 mile hike today. The predicted afternoon rain predicted never materialized; our planned shortened route was all for naught. It’s very dry so the sandy trails are really loose now and that makes for some challenging steps!

I got something weird when my Fitbit dashboard “collapsed” to just calories in and out and 2 other measures - I don’t track my food in Fitbit and I care most about steps, activity log, active minutes and sleep - and I couldn’t get the measures I wanted back. I wound up deleting the app and re downloading. Which gave me the update.

It also jumped forward 2 hours overnight, but with my first morning synch it corrected back to just 1 hour ahead.

Gertrude! Move on up!

Yay, Gertrude!

Sabaray- try closing your app and reopening it and then syncing. That helps sometimes.

Congratulations, Gertrude!
