Glad the eggplant was a hit, BB. Even Mr. Sabaray ate it (and appeared to enjoy it)!
5.5 miles this morning, beautiful start to the day.
Here’s an interesting little note about full fat dairy and Type II diabetes that may be of some interest.

Oh, wow. Weekends get so busy and with not enough time to get online I end up trying to catch up on a million posts on Monday morning! There’s just so much great information from this group!
Saturday was a 5K that was fun. I didn’t realize that it was mostly a trail run. I don’t do trail runs much - always afraid of falling or twisting an ankle - but this was fun. Yesterday I got a nice 9 mile run in. Tonight I’m planning on a shorter tempo run.
Tons of yard work on Saturday and Sunday - sure is nice to be outside and enjoy spring!
sabaray - I’m looking forward to hearing about your Plated meals. How many did they ship you? Do you just refrigerate until you’re ready to cook them?
I started a plan that sends you 3 dinners a week. When I opened the box it was very well insulated- like opening my refrigerator! Nothing is frozen - you get a big recipe card with photos that shows you step by step. We were eating out far too often or eating bad carry out simply because I was too tired to face cooking! You have to prepare the Plated meals - they are not simply heat and serve- but most require 30 minutes at most. Salmon teriyaki is tonight’s dinner with a side salad. Stay tuned!
Had to laugh - I don’t use my phone to go on CC but when I checked my Instagram feed this morning I had a paid pic/ad from Plated - it says if you download their app you get $24 off your first delivery. FYI!
Lol Abasket!
So today I ran, yippee! I only ran/walked about 1.5 miles and walked the remaining 1.5 miles for a total of 3 miles. It didn’t feel particularly great and I’m cautiously optimistic about my foot, but so far so good. It’s been 6 weeks and I’ve been walking for the past 3 weeks. We will see.
It was not a fun weekend. Spent it at the hospital. My bil who has been through so much has another health crisis. We thought we were going to lose him on Friday but he’s still hanging on and fighting. Praying like crazy. But my H and I drove home last night. Not much we can do.
deb, great about the return to running! And not so great about your BIL - hope he is able to rally.
Deb, hugs. You did all you could, now it is time for waiting and praying while the doctors are doing their thing.
Good to hear about the run! Let the foot rest for the next day or so…
I’m down another pound! I know this might just be an anomaly because I’m weighing myself every few days (so it could just be natural fluctuations) but when I’ve seen my weight do nothing but go up for months, any day where it doesn’t go up (let alone go down!) is an awesome day
I’m going to stay at this level of prednisone for a while because every time I taper down I feel like a zombie for several days and I was told to slow down if that happens. But at this level, it doesn’t seem like my appetite is out of control and the pain is still relatively low.
Also, it’s a beautiful day and I was able to run around with the puppy for a few minutes (emphasis on FEW) in the backyard. Yes, I said run! Will I hurt tomorrow? Probably, but it felt great to be able to do.
Will be thinking of your family Deb - hoping and praying for improvement. <3
S1’s former DIL ran the London Marathon yesterday – first marathon! She ran a 3:36 and was thrilled silly. She had hoped for 4:15, was on a 3:27 pace at the halfway mark, and decided to go for under 4. The last two miles were killer, she said.
So sorry about your brother in law, Deb. It doesn’t sound good.
Romani- glad you got to move around and that the scale gave you some nice news!
CD- that is a pretty big disparity in goal v. results! Congratulations to her on a great time.
Sorry to hear about your bil’s health challenges, deb. Getting out to run and walk must have been a much needed stress reliever too. I’m glad your foot is feeling better.
Sorry about your BIL’s health problems, deb.
5.5 miles completed this morning, 30/30 complete for the month! Yay!
Wore the Align crops for an outdoors Pilates class this afternoon - these are the most comfortable pants I’ve ever worn. I need more. Super, super comfy.
First Plated meal prepared. So, so easy. No measuring. Everything is premeasured for you! The recipe card (with photos, ingredients and amounts) takes you through the preparation step by step - so if you really liked a menu option, you are free to prepare it with ingredients you purchase yourself. Tonight was salmon teriyaki - so literally I dumped two vials of teriyaki and hoisin sauce in a ziplock and added the salmon to marinate for 10 minutes. While that was marinating, I rinsed Bibb lettuce. Chopped up some ginger and shallot, and combined it in my mini food processor with matchstick carrots, rice wine vinegar, grapeseed oil, sesame oil and a little water. That was the dressing for the salad. While the salmon was roasting, I tore up the lettuce and sliced some avocado. Tossed it with the lettuce and dressing, served on the side with the salmon. It was very, very good. The portion sizes were appropriate - I would have added more avocado if I had it, but you had 6 oz pieces of salmon. They gave me two heads of Boston lettuce which was more than enough. The dressing was delicious and I would totally make it again. Best part was that I did not need to buy huge packages of everything to try one recipe - I had everything I needed. No leftovers. It was delicious - not what I would call “deluxe gourmet” but easy and quick to prepare, better than take out.
Choices for tomorrow are vegetarian: spring minestrone with Parmesan crisps or spring green risotto. Mr. Sabaray will not be home, so you all get to decide what I make.
It sounds great! I would go with the risotto, but both would be excellent. What a great find!
Congratulations on the 30/30!
5 mile day for me, with 3.2 of it (well, 5.2 total actually) after work in 82 degrees. The first really warm runs are tough.
^^^ Sabaray–I vote for the risotto–I wonder if it’s partially cooked, because it usually takes a fairly long time to prepare.
Flow yoga for me today plus an early morning walk (2 miles).
I am so getting the Align crops.
Thanks for the report on the recipe in the box experience! Sounds interesting.
Risotto it is. Not partially cooked - I suspect it will take a bit longer than the 40 minutes it calls for.
I’ll be over for the risotto tomorrow…
Beautiful day today. Too bad it included work. Haha. Two nice walks with the dog, easy flow yoga at lunchtime.
Deb, sorry to hear about your BIL. I hope things improve.
Sabaray, sounds delicious!
Did my first outdoor workout on my playground today. So much fun. Started off with my parallettes routine. The core aspects are intense when doing L-Sits and going up into shoulder stands and back down to straddles. Inside, I don’t wear sneakers, outside I did. I’ve got to get lighter shoes, lol. I then moved into my typical weighted chin-ups. Did dips on the rings; inside I wear 32 lbs of weights, outside the stability factor was exponentially harder on the rings and I ended up not wearing the weight vest. Then push-ups on rings and plyobox, pull ups on bar, ending with hanging L-Sits moving into leg and hip curls to begin preparing for hip overs on the bar. Then went inside to do some dumbbell curls. And then I collapsed.
