Another early a.m. runner here. The alarm goes off at 4:45 and I’m usually out the door within 10 minutes. The early start time gives me some flexibility in the distance I run. I usually run 5, but if I’m feeling good, I know I have time to tack on another mile or two. Food and the paper wait until after I get back, showered, and dressed for work. I agree with Sabaray - the sky can be magical at that hour.
I also find that if I tell myself “I’ll run later” - it doesn’t happen. I enjoy cooking a nice dinner and having time with the pups in the evening. Oh, and Mr. Sabaray too.
Glad to see everyone here today!
Raining today in my neighborhood. Trying to get motivated to visit the indoor fitness center in my neighborhood.
Last night I made spaghetti using no sugar added sauce and zucchini “noodles” instead of pasta. It was really good!
I bought my daughter a spiralizer that she uses frequently to make veggie noodles - now of course you know those noodles are better with cheese! Glad to see you back, Nrdsb4.
@abasket , that is pretty cool! I listen to preferred stations on iHeart radio when I run. I let them choose the tracks. I remember recently thinking I could race much faster if I played the latter part of “Free Bird” while running!
Wow you early risers! Being a night owl, I am in awe at your early runs, walks etc. I cannot do a run before I hit the commuter bus stop, therefore, I own a treadmill.
Speaking of noodles, I bought a package of edamame spaghetti at Costco before our trip. Thanks for the reminder! I will test it tonight and report. I suspect if I dump some Kerrygold butter in it, it will taste awesome.
One of my favorite “fast casual” restaurants is called Sweetgreen - don’t know where all they are in the country, but they make great salads. In any event, they’ve just prohibited bacon and sriracha from their menu as part of a new health campaign. I don’t know if I can eat there anymore.
Why sriracha? Why?! How much sugar does a couple of drops of it have? Idad would have had a few choice words about bacon ban, for sure.
So they banned sriracha because of the added sugar - a whopping 1 gm per teaspoon. Don’t know about anyone else, but I don’t drink the stuff.
In the meantime, a number of their beverages and dressings have added sugar, far in excess of what is in sriracha.
This is just silly.
Lame publicity stunt. B-)
Nobody messes with my sriracha! - can it be any worse than ketchup!
I’ll stand for iDad on this one!!!
Cellulitis seems under control–I have a few more days on the antibiotic and redness on my shin is gone. Did a 7am slow flow yoga class and am now headed to vacation place for the upcoming holiday.
I am not a morning person–getting up and making the early yoga class was a big deal for me. I am a night owl so I had to go to bed much earlier than usual. Knew if I didnt do yoga first, it wouldnt happen.
Glad to hear the cellulitis is under control Bromfield. Have fun at the vacation house!
Gonna get a looooong needle stuck in me for diagnostic purposes. Just partially kidding. My vertebrae and discs are fine… To pinpoint the joint that might be the culprit, doc recommended an injection. If there is no relief after 7-10 days, then it is not the place… Onto the next target. I am fine with that.
Gotta do some free weights before making a Costco run - we are out of eggs and blueberries, my major food groups!!!
Got an email from a buddy - asking if I was selling my shorts on ebay. Wow. There are a few out there plus on other sites! Nope. Not selling mine.
80 plus degree means the track, spikes and no shirt. Mix of 100s, 200s, 300s and 400s. Felt like I was 18. Well maybe 35. Probably 45.
Not hungry tonight. Might go on a 6/1 diet this week!
Ohio, there is some truth to that 6/1 diet - that’s pretty much what I do when I train for races. On my long run days I am just not hungry, so I eat approximately 1/2 of what I eat normally… considering calories burned during the long run, that’s a negative calorie day!
So much for my Costco trip! My 235 is here!!!
Waiting for a report on BB’s edamame spaghetti! I’ve had a garbanzo bean/flour pasta before that was pretty tasty. I would like to try the zucchini noodles–I need to find one of those machines.
Jealous, Bunsen. I hope mine is in tomorrow’s mail
My son and I walked today. He also took some of his free weights out of the closet for an upper body workout. One of the great things about having him home and exercising together is the time it gives us to chat and catch up. I’m accustomed to walking and talking to DH on our regular evening stroll, but taking walks with the kid and having one on one conversations as adults is just pleasant. We’ve also been cooking together. Over the past four years he’s really started to put together the healthy eating with home cooking. Tonight, chicken fajitas with onions and peppers, chopped cilantro and a squeeze of lime, fried beans, and a romaine salad. Of course there’s ice cream, now that he’s home, but that’s temporary and okay too. At least for this moment, I’m feeling happy that for our family, a perk of the fitness focus and health crisis recovery over the past years is seeing this kid grow up already integrating a few of our hard learned lessons.
Too funny - we had chicken fajitas tonight too! Except ours had rice…and avocado…and cheese. No tortillas, though! I have seen the zucchini noodles at Whole Foods but they are $$ - I think we got D’s spiralizer at Williams Sonoma but I have seen them elsewhere for less.
I have a Pilates workout with my trainer tomorrow morning and will likely have to do my run tomorrow night. Bunsen, I hope that injection does the trick.
