It looks like sabaray, Bunsen, abasket, fireandrain and I all bought Instapots today - anyone else? Should be fun!
Yay! We can have Instapotluck.
What is an Instapot?
I did a 3 mile walk at 10 am (temp was mid-80s). Did core exercise/squats/lunges on my own. Going back to vacation place tomorrow where it’s a little cooler.
Slow 5 miles in the heat. VO2 Max on the Garmin dropped from 52 to 50.
Bromfield, it is a pressure cooker/crockpot/something else. CC cooks rave about it, and it was a Prime Day deal special on Amazon today, so a bunch of us got suckered in.
I feel like such a lemming.
Bought an Instapot at 11:50 pm. Hope I use it.
I was tempted, but just not a cook.
I had a good 7 mile run last night. It was very hot and very humid but it didn’t bother me too much. Thank goodness for drinking fountains along the trail. It is amazing how much I sweat on a run, though!
I’m not one of the Cool Kids. No instapot for me. I will be interested to hear how all of you like it and what all you make with it. Maybe I’ll think about it for Christmas.
I’ve officially lost my mind - up at 4 am to run this morning for three hours… 68 degrees, 100% humidity at 4:45 am. Sure, run a marathon they said. It will be fun, they said. Ha! Now off for a fun day at work!
^ running for 3 hours - wow!
I try to avoid cooking as much as possible and am also trying to get rid of things in my house so no instapot for me. I’ll be happy to taste test, though.
Another late night last night, however this one was seeing Steely Dan in concert with Steve Winwood opening. Terrific show. Ran 3 miles this AM.
I can’t recall whether I posted this article or was thinking about posting it but never did, so I’m posting it now (again?) :).
Really interesting review of recent studies on exercise induced oxidative stresses, free radicals and anti-oxidants. Take away is that supplements are useless, oxidative stress is necessary for exercise induced adaptations, intake of more than RDA of vitamins C, E and A will degrade performance and just a well balanced diet provides all the anti-oxidents you need.

I just keep trying to remind myself of those frigid January days…but yeah, it’s just HOT. As you said Sabaray, when you wake up practically in the middle of the night to catch some coolness - and it’s no where near cool - THAT’S hot!
I DRAGGED getting out of bed this morning but did get 2.5 miles in before work. It will do.
Wow, sabaray, that is really impressive! Running for 3 hours, at that time of day, in this weather! I hope you are safe running by yourself in the wee hours of the morning. Have a good day at work - this will be a really long day for you! I am super impressed.
I call it running, but it’s pretty pathetic - still trying to keep my HR in the approved range. I do feel so much better physically, so it was definitely worth the investment of time. I am fortunate to live near an area that has a safe walking type loop - so I warmed up there until it was lighter out then headed through the university for the bulk of the run and then ended back at the loop for the cooldown.
FallGirl, I love Steve Winwood - Mr. Sabaray and I saw him on one of our first dates. Sounds like a great evening!
Wow, sabaray!!! Way to go. If the local weather patterns hold into August, your half will be a welcome change, fingers crossed.
I am thinking that you are ready to run the ~:> for which you have to wake up at 4 am (72 degrees and 100% humidity at the start).
sabaray- that is great! You will be happy the rest of the week that it’s DONE!!! What a weekday accomplishment. Very impressive. I hope you are awake at 3pm!
3.7 for me this morning and that felt bad enough! I don’t want to be too dramatic, but I am really regretting getting that Prolia shot. I feel like there is poison in my body. I just don’t feel like myself. I think I’m going to take my chances with the bone stuff. I did the damn daily injections and I think I’ll see how things go for a couple of years. If I have a bad osteoporosis type fracture, I’ll have to revisit it, but I’m done for now. I’m hoping I won’t feel this bad for the whole 6 months- that it will improve. I’m just past 1 month since the shot.
Sabaray - great! I’m trying to see if I can start an early morning routine.
I am investigating high altitude locations to train for 4 weeks for May 2017. Looking at Mammoth Lakes CA. Nice track, trails, running community, reasonable Airbnb rates. Concerned if temperature/snow may be a problem?
Also looking at Flagstaff, co springs, Albuquerque. Any thoughts on these and other locations everyone? Got to have accessibility to a track.
I want to get training in prior to senior nationals in June 2017. All in!
Is Meb still training in Mammoth Lakes? You could meet up! I think Ryan Hall used to train there, too.
Albuquerque might not be quite high enough- if you are going to go to the trouble of being somewhere. Less likely to have a snow problem. Flagstaff has a ton of runners training.
Check out Breckenridge/Frisco. Lots of paths/trails and a new high school which I’m sure has a nice track. Pretty high altitude. Only 1 1/2 hours or so from Denver.
Very important question - I need more shorts and am thinking of ordering the Lulu Hotty Hot shorts (no laughing, please). They have a longer version that looks roomier in the quads and a bit more modest. Any of you ladies have tips on fit for these?
