@C3Baker – 90s seems really hot to me! I like my series, they drop the worst race of the five… Good luck to you tonight!

90 degrees at 9 am. Weights and fluid running down. Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!

Congrats, dmd! Good luck with your 5k, C3Baker!

Good job, dmd! Good luck, C3Baker! Enjoy the birthday dinner!

I wore these little shorts this morning- Oiselle Spandos. They aren’t low in the waist, but they don’t really have anything in the way of legs- they are tight fitting like compression shorts but without much of an inseam. I like them, but felt like I needed a singlet with them so I didn’t look like I was running around the neighborhood in a bathing suit! I suspect these are not aimed at my age group! I had an early seminar in town, so I only got to do 2 miles. More on the dreadmill after work. It’s extremely hot and humid here.

This might be of interest to some of our group. It’s a good discussion of women’s exercise apparel and body image issues.

Hope you have AC in the dreadmill room, MOfWC!

Hot here, too. Niece wants ribs for dinner. So I will take my magic pot outside to pressure-cook them, then will finish them on the grill.

Excellent article, MOfWC.

This has caught my eye, too:

Hormonal fluctuations are nothing to sneeze at. I am convinced that the pill I was relatively recently put on has something to do with my injury.

Did two yoga classes this am–sunrise flow and hips and hamstrings (never took this class before–lots of hip opener poses). Rode my bike to the studio and back–I was on the bike path for most of the trip, but had a short distance on the road, which I find very scary. I am constantly worried about cars on the roads.

MOWC–amazing that your son was able to do the Ironman with a labrum tear and another injury!! Friend’s D was really in pain until after her surgery.

So I was chatting w my trainer this morning about Pokemon Go. When I arrived at the fitness center he was wearing a weighted vest and running around the parking lot chasing Pokemon. He says he plays it with his 9 yo stepson and it helps the stepson get physical activity as he tends to be fairly inactive. I expressed that I had tried it, wasn’t sure what the big deal was, but I’m hardly the target. He laughed and said - this Saturday, instead of our normal workout, bring your phone. We’re going to play it outside and you’re going to sprint from character to character

Will keep you posted!

^^^First thing I thought when my kids explained Pokemon Go to me was that it was probably good cause this game got kids moving instead of sitting all the time and playing games on their iphones!

My son was in a lot of pain, but he wasn’t about to lose his chance to compete in Kona. I think he has an interest in going back. He has a full Ironman coming up later in August in Quebec.

My treadmill room is not air conditioned or heated (it’s in a part of our basement that is not conditioned) but it stays moderate. It’s a little warm now at 78, but we keep our house at about that temp anyway (H is really big on energy usage and efficiency and I have a little trouble after being in air conditioning all day at work). I have a big fan for my dreadmill and the little fan that is on the console. I wouldn’t love it for a longer run at this time of year, but it’s fine for the mileage I’m doing on it.

Not going to lie, I am feeling super discouraged. I think I’m going to be with the old ladies doing 20 minute miles. At that rate, the bus will pick me up because I’m just that slow!

Great job to all the racers!

You will be surprised how much better you will feel once the weather cools off.

We had a milkshake event at work. Hand-crafted Krispy Kreme or Nutella shakes provided by a food vendor. At least they were small and you could only have one. How helpful…

Ugh, the heat is just draining. I did a 5 mile run/walk this morning, trying to keep the HR low. I was successful, but I definitely spent more time walking than ever. I’m glad to have a reason to keep it slow (HR) because otherwise I’m not sure I’d make it outside to run at all. Don’t be discouraged, sabaray because you’re not alone! I added another mile of warm-up on the treadmill at the air conditioned gym, before doing some upper body weight work on the machines. I miss not having the fit kid home, bugging me to get to the gym every day.

This time of year is tough - if you’re moving, consider it a win. Sabaray, I think you are too hard on yourself - please consider ALL your effort in addition to the miles on the pavement - great successes - you work SOO hard. Way harder than me for sure!

I am doing a little packing for the weekend and then making myself go outside and do a couple miles of SOMETHING. The humidity is GROSS. But I have a 5 + hour car ride tomorrow, and I’m sure, some snacking for the next few days - I have to commit to do something!

Sabaray - is it the MAF training? If so, I think when you get to this point, I think it’s time to bail on the low HR training. I’ve been there and it starts to mess with your head. However, I think you’ll find it has helped you you in terms of mitochondria build, injury relief, etc.

Unfortunately I can’t attend! http://www.karagoucher.com/2016-podium-retreat-announcement/

I would SO love to go to that, but my October is crazy. I haven’t been to the Loew’s Ventana Canyon hotel in years (before 2000) and it was one of my top hotels in the whole country.

3 hot miles this morning. It’s going to be a hot weekend, too. It’s summer- I get that- but usually we get some breaks around here.
