Pizzagirl, what a great battery of tests and results! Must have been quite fascinating as you went through the procedures. I’d love to have a similar comprehensive battery done.
Went to the doctor again yesterday about my hip. Was concerned that I still have a half baseball size bump on my hip and that if I take my normal baby aspirin it appears to promote new subdural hematomas (i.e. black and blue marks) down the back of my thigh. All perfectly normal he said. Also said it could take a couple of months to resolve and that I should return to PT to have the area worked on to help break up the swelling and fluid. Glad I held 9 sessions in reserve from my annual 30! Also suggested I use heating pads at home. Want to avoid calcification of the bruise that would make the bump permenant. Best of all, he said that I am medically unrestricted on activity. To celebrate, I did 2 hours of strength training last night including squats and deadlifts and then had a huge milk, fruit, peanut butter, protein powder smoothie and potato Knisha for dinner. Yum!
Wow, Michael. That sounds like a terrible bump still. Glad you got the go-ahead for all activity, though.
9.1 humid miles done! Was hoping for 8, and not sure I could stand the weather or if it would start storming and I would have to quit. I stayed within a mile or two of my car and decided to go for 9 miles. I did OK, but was soaked. It didn’t rain, though. I have a half marathon on Sept 11, and I really should be doing 10 or 11 mile runs- but it’s just too awful outside.
Yeah, MOWC, it’s still pretty exquisite ;). Tomorrow, I’m shooting an exercise video be be featured as Trainer of the Month for an east coast chain of exercise equipment stores and I’m gonna need to wear long workout pants to cover my artwork, just what I want to do in this heat, lol.
Nom nom cheesecake. Nice to think about! H and I walked 5.5 this morning in the 93 degree heat. Tomorrow I’ll do my long run on the treadmill under the A/C.
Stopped at Lululemon this afternoon and picked up a running skirt on final closeout. Their stock on skirts was really low. I hope more are coming! I also tried on the beat the heat bra–a no go for me because even with its longer proportions, I’m too self conscious about baring the midriff area when I’m running.
You can certainly pull off the bare midriff. Try it early some morning when no one can see you and see if you can get comfortable with it. I am doing it almost every run this summer. It’s just so much more comfortable for me. If I’m wearing really tiny shorts, I wear some sort of tank top or else I feel like I’m running through the 'hood in a bathing suit.
We are pansies when it comes to heat here in the PNW. When it hit above 90 here last year, I could not give a fig leaf about anyone thinking I was running in a bikini!!! You go for it, PlantMom!
Finished First OVERALL in the SuperSprint Triathlon today in Cleveland. Had to breaststroke the last 100 yds. in the swim. Killed the bike. Lost a lot of time during transitions. Swim to bike transition was 400 yds. Probably need to wear Aqua shoes or something for my tender feet! Took me to long to get bike shoes on. Also lost 10-15 seconds on the run because I had to go back and get my lucky rambo-style headband. Also forget to put shirt on during bike after I stripped out of wetsuit vest. The hardest part - jumping in the water! Felt good to beat the young men and women.
Hi all - just checking in. I’ve been neglecting this thread in favor of the Instant Pot cooking thread & guess what? I’m up about 3-4 pounds. Sigh. Time to get serious again.
We’re struggling with heat here in SD too. I think I’m getting a heat rash anywhere that I have sweat touching me during my runs & my skin is terminally hot & itchy. Absolutely miserable.
Just did a 2 hr bike ride w H. Am doing a yoga class at noon.
Bought a new Fitbit but still having trouble w how it’s tracking my sleep. Up until a few weeks ago, it seemed accurate - I could see a few times in the night where I was restless, when maybe I went to the bathroom, or sat up to look at the clock, and it all made sense - so if I went to bed at 10 and got up at 6, it might show that I slept for 7 hrs 45 mins with 15 mins restless.
Now, it is showing large blocks of time where I am supposedly restless. Like if I go to bed at 10 and wake up at 6, it might show that I’ve only gotten 3 hours of sleep and there are hour-long blocks during which I was restless. I know this is not true. So I’m aggravated!!
Pizzagirl, I think it could be a global firmware update issue if another Fitbit is doing the same thing. I do not believe in the sleep tracking accuracy, so I gave up on it. For example, if I wake up at 2 am and just keep still so I would not wake up Mr., my Fitbit would register uninterrupted sleep even though i was wide awake until 5 am. Besides, the green light from the HR reader would wake me up.
