Congrats to MOWC’s D and Happy Anniversary Ohio!
Happy Anniversary, Ohio!
Tonight is a special night for us Packers fans! Brett Favre is being inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame here in Ohio! Brett was an icon in our house for years as my S, now 24 was (and is) an UBER Packer fan. Therefore, except for my Lions H, the rest of us are! I bought tickets for S and D1 to go to Canton to see the induction tonight. So, so happy that they get to be there. In his honor for all the cheering, screaming, jumping, nail biting, amazing times he brought to our household Sundays for many, many years, I ran 4.44 miles tonight!!! #gopack #go#4!!!
abasket - I’m not a football fan (sorry) but my H and kids are all big Packer fans!
Abasket - Drove past the HOF tonight! Looked amazing.
Beautiful day here today- lower humidity, sunny, would be perfect to run - but of course it’s a rest day! Pup walks will have to do, I guess.
Thought this was interesting, from the Post:
Really puts things into perspective in terms of calorie intake and exercise - what you really “need” to fuel. Lots of whole foods, plenty of carbs - just the good ones, though!
Got out and walked just under 2 miles this AM. Trying to build my strength back up without overdoing.
^^ Smart move. Invest in your body slowly for the future.
On the drive home from NC. 33000 steps yesterday including the run. My legs are tired! 4.2 miles this morning on the nice path around Lake Junaluska- where we stayed. More humid than yesterday, so I’m glad the race was then! Still a lot cooler than home at 3900 feet!
400 days of running streak! Home and it’s hot. Ready for Colorado in a couple of weeks- even though it’s hard to breathe at 10,000 feet!
Zip lined with the family (our 24th bday gift to the kids). What a workout! Major core work involved in climbing rope ladders, walking across swaying bridges. It was 3 hours long in hot sun. Got home, took a shower and fell fast asleep! I have to say, we told our kids - most 51/55 yo parents could not do this kind of thing, be grateful we are strong and healthy - and cool parents, lol.
Tried to do yoga today, but realized my knee was still bruised and was uncomfortable when I did any poses where I was on my knees (e.g., cat-cow). Going to just keep walking for a few days.
Sounds like you had a fun afternoon on the zip, PG.
Nice streak, MOWC.
Sounds like fun pg. My kids and I did the zipline in Vancouver 4 years ago (H declined). I think once was enough for me though.
Way to go, Pizzagirl. Good to be cool parents!
Happy Anniversary, Ohio! Congrats to your daughter, MoWC! What a treat to be running, competing, and sipping brews in such beautiful spot.
Glad you’re feeling better FallGirl, and hope your scan shows nothing of concern tomorrow.
Sounds like a good time, pizzagirl.
My husband and I did a long walk yesterday into our small town. We took a break for breakfast at a local cafe. Nice date for daytime. Today I did my planned long run on the treadmill–9 miles that didn’t feel too hard at all. I also walked a few miles this afternoon with DH. I’m feeling fatigue in my knees–not pain, just fatigue and maybe a little stiffness.
Congrats to Pizzagirl and H for being cool parents.
(for and surviving the ziplining)
We decided to visit NW Trek just to get out of the Seafair madness. It was cooler and slightly drizzly, just the right weather for the animals to be active. Saw every animal except the skunk. Don’t consider that a huge loss.
NW Trek added a zipline for those folks who need some extra excitement in addition to watching wildlife.
The zip line sounds like lots of fun - I WILL do that one day!
PlantMom, you get a prize for 9 miles on the treadmill. I’m sure it is a great relief from the heat, but that many miles on the treadmill sounds like prison to me!
Congrats on day 400 of the streak MOWC! Those of you who run a half marathon or nearly and then get up the next day and run 4 or 5 more miles - I am not worthy!!!
It was a great weekend! We had fun at the Big10K and it was a gorgeous day for it. They changed the course this year and we really liked the new route. H and I both placed 2nd in our age groups. The lady who won my age group ran something like a 7:02 pace (on a 10K race) so there is no chance I would ever be able to win this one! Yesterday was lots of yardwork along with a 6 mile walk. We are “Trail Ambassadors” on our town’s trail system and the section that we are assigned to maintain is a couple miles from our home, so it makes for a really good walk to go there and take care of the trail.
MOWC - you are doing great on your latest streak! Congrats to your daughter on a great tri. Sounds as if the whole family got really good exercise.
Bromfield - glad you got those stitches out, but it sounds as if you really need to take it easy for awhile longer. Three layers of stitches sounds pretty awful!
FallGirl - I’m glad you are feeling a little better, but you are wise to not overdo anything.
PG - the ziplining sounds like a blast! Glad you had such a fun day with the family.
Congrats on your streak, MOfWC.
