MOWC, hope you are feeling better. These seasonal allergies can really be severe! One of my cycling training partners goes into actual asthma attacks from the September allergy season. This time of year can be brutal. Hope you are able to fly and that your race goes well.
Thanks. My allergies had barely kicked in, which is why this is so odd. I feel better but not great. I did not sleep at ALL due to the steroid shot and Sudafed. Lovely. I also feel dehydrated. Good news is the pain is gone and I think I’m a little less stuffed up in the ear. Still can’t hear hardly anything. I think I’ll be able to fly tomorrow.
3.6 miles this morning- slow and hot.
After a couple days of “slothdom” I ran 4 miles this morning – on the treadmill since it’s still windy and on-and-off rainy here. Should be clearing out later today, and then the heat/humidity returns. Lovely! The Hokas still feel pretty good.
I was thinking the other day that after all this time, shouldn’t I actually like running more? I don’t – there’s no “runner’s high” and I usually have to charge myself up to just get it done. Think I need a mindset reset …
CBB -for me it’s not the actual running that does it - it’s running with my group & the atmosphere of the races that gives me a high. So much positive energy - I absolutely feed off it.
OK, I am officially diving into the world of fun running fashions. Right now, I own 4 pairs of solid black running capris & one pair that is a grayish print. People in my running group are nuts over these skirts: www.sparkleskirts.com so I have ordered one of those in a fun blue print, and ordered another polka dot skirt from RoadRunner sports. I can’t wait!
Cute skirts Gertrude! I also like their headbands.
My running high comes when I am done. Haha - kinda true! The one thing I do feel 4 years into this exercise is sometimes I feel the NEED to literally run my legs. I think the energy release is something I find I “need”.
I sure don’t always love running, but it is so much a part of me…
The SparkleSkirts are very cute and popular. I like the Sparkle Mudd bottoms which I wear under my Nuu Muu dresses. DonnaJo Fitwear has cute skirts, too.
I like those skirts! Might have to get a really catchy one to complement my dorkmobile. The weather is cooling down nicely, so I dusted off my cat tights bought off ModCloth a while ago, but I will need something for warmer weather, ha!
SparkleSkirts need to make dog and cat print skirts. Cat prints are the current fashion rage, if you believe the chichi designers (see the latest posts in the Ugly/Expensive thread
)
In the beginning of this thread in 2009, when I returned to running after a two-decade hiatus, I often thought “Why am I doing this?” after every short run. Then - very gradually! - things have changed. It took a while for mybody to get to the point of runners’ high. I
I miss running! I was soooooooo excited that I can go back to the trail and zoom past the trees, herons, dog walkers, baby stroller pushers, etc. (not that I was zooming when I ran…
).
Apple just announced its new watch. Waterproof for swimming and GPS for running. Since I’m not happy with my Fitbit and have been eyeing Garmin – I now have to consider this.
Bunsen - here’s a couple of dog-themed ones - no actual pictures of dogs though!
OK, as part of my “mindset reset,” I picked up this today: http://www.mantraband.com/products/you-got-this
They actually have one that says “Just run,” but I figured “You got this” covered more than just running. I’m a bracelet person, so I’ll be wearing this all the time.
Like the Sparkle Skirts, but I only wear the CW-X Stabily capris because they have the knee support. BUT, I could actually wear one of these skirts to play golf …
Did they announce a $ price $ @fireandrain ???
I think they are starting at $269 @abasket.
$269. That’s not bad for starters. Does that $269 model at least tell time??
MOWC - headed to Chattanooga tomorrow and Friday for a small trade show. Looked at the temps down your way and decided not to pack any clothes!
It’s really hot right now, but it’s supposed to cool off by the weekend (I won’t be here, though). Have a good trip! I love Chattanooga.
I love those bracelets! I have all sorts of inspirational jewelry. I might need to add one of these. I like the “Do it Anyway” one.
The original Apple watch now starts at $269. The new one, which is water-resistant and has built-in GPS, starts at $369 for aluminum and $549 for stainless steel. Or you can be very fancy and get the spiffy ceramic case for the low, low price of $1249.
The initial review from dc rainmaker http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2016/09/apple-watch-series-2-preview.html
From that review:
5 hours? I don’t see myself rushing out of the door to get an Apple watch…
I am usually an “early adopter”, as you know, and I am not tempted by the Apple watch. I would have huge battery anxiety, and as slow as I’ve gotten, it wouldn’t even get me through a marathon!
Thanks, CBB. I ordered a bracelet!
