Diet/Exercise/Health/Wellness Support Thread

Took a good, fast walk tonight. It was still 90 at 7pm. Between the heat, the sweat and the bugs flying in my face I can’t really say it was too enjoyable!

Tuesday I lost my Fitbit while going through airport security. Of course, that mans today I had to rely on my phone to track steps. In NYC… Managed to run four miles on the Hudson River Trail, nice but wow, what a contrast from my usual trail run when I see maybe two or three other people… but flat, which was nice. Walked all over the rest of the day and finished with more than 35k steps. ((Buffing nails on shoulder)) loved the chance to soak in the dioramas at the Natural History Museum.

DMD–is there an app on the iPhone that tracks steps? Please share. When I charge my Fitbit, I always forget about it and have a half-day with no step count before I remember to get my FB. Would be great to have a backup.

@Bromfield2 – it’s the Health app, the one with the heart. The Fitbit iPhone app will do gps and steps if you start and stop it, but chews battery.

“It was still 90 at 7pm.”

OMG, abasket. Sorry to hear that. It is nice and cool here in my neck of the woods. Perfect early fall weather. I think I will hang onto my property here… Who knows what climate changes are coming our way, but so far, PNW has not seen any crazy extremes. Plus, I need proximity to the ocean to feel comfortable. So our place is kind of fits many criteria, but I hate the neverending yardwork!

Another heat wave hitting the Philly area for the next few days. Temps in the mid 90’s, feeling like 100. Yippee - not ;).

Just under 4 miles walking – early and outside. Foggy, (but it’s supposed to clear later) warm and steamy. I was dripping when I finished. I’m off to MA this afternoon, and then on to NH tomorrow. I joined the camp committee for the family camp we go to, and this is the annual retreat, on island. Back to my happy place!!

@MomofWildChild - You’re welcome! I went to a nearby store that carries them – I liked so many of the mantras I could have gotten a wrist full. I did buy a 2nd one: “Live Laugh Love.” Thinking of getting a couple for D for Christmas.

Yep, Michael. My race is Sunday morning in Allentown! 70 at the start.

I have a bracelet that says “I Can Do Hard Things” that I wear. I love jewelry… Those are really pretty, CBB.

Like the saying on your braclet, MOWC! Where did you get it?

Worked with my trainer for an hour–spent a good 15 minutes on balance exercises. I am horrified of tripping like I did last month. It’s crazy but the fairly simple exercises (balancing on one foot on a squishy blue balancing pad and step-ups where I balanced on one leg on top) weren’t easy for me. Afterwards, I did 40 minutes on the Cybex arc machine.

Going to go to a relax and restore yoga tonight.

Bromfield - I am right there with you on the balance issues. I don’t know what age I started having balance problems because I had really good balance when I was young. I hope that the exercises you are doing will help.

I love all those bracelets with the mantras - very inspirational. I can’t stand wearing bracelets, but I do admire them on others.

I got it on Etsy. I searched. One of my young running friends had it in a wrap fabric style. I couldn’t find that. Mine isn’t very pretty- it has a purple slide cord.

Thinking of Sabaray here at work today as I constructed this lunch time sandwich:
1 slice Dave’s Killer Bread (thanks Sabaray!)
A bit of mayo
Basil from my garden
Sliced tomatoes from my garden, sprinkled with salt
Thin slices of good salami
Fresh mozzerella from my cow (ok, made the cow part up…)
Banana peppers

I am actually NOT a sandwich person, but that sandwich? GOOD.

Yum!

Mmmmm… Good.

Sounds like a good sandwich, abasket. You need to try some Sir Kensington’s mayonnaise - best thing ever! I had a nice lunch with friends today to celebrate my upcoming birthday. Delicious Thai food and cupcakes which we shared in small portions for dessert. I’ve had a really good week running and am happy about that - supposed to cool off after Saturday but thankfully I only have a short run planned so I think I’ll survive.

I too love bracelets - and wear them frequently! I have a water bottle from Lulu that has the “You’ve Got This” saying on it - very motivational during Barre when I’m feeling my clutziest.

Bunsen, I’m glad you’ve been able to get out on the trail again - that has to feel liberating! Enjoy!

I got this braclet–https://www.■■■■■■■■/listing/259585474/i-can-do-hard-things-mantra-cuff?ref=market
I never bought anything on Etsy; this was a first.

Sabaray–Sir Kensington’s is the best. My D (who lives in Chapel Hill, NC) turned me on to Dukes Mayo, which is good too. I don’t think anyone sells it in MA.

I love that bracelet, Bromfield. We need to commission someone to make a D/E/H/W one. That would be cool.

Bromfield, will Amazon deliver to your house?

https://www.amazon.com/Dukes-Mayonnaise-Real-32-oz/dp/B0040IKA4Y

I have a friend who received a shipment of Duke’s from a friend in the south earlier this summer to get her through summer and tomato sandwiches!

I can’t say I would know the difference between mayos - I rarely use it and am not sure that I’d be able to define differences in taste.

Oh, and yeah, a D/E/H/W one! (What a deal on your bracelet Bromfield!) Our bracelet can say, “I AM worthy.” <3
Or it can say, “I just exercised. Where’s the donuts?!”
