That’s a great cuff. Abasket- that would be perfect! I miss iDad.
My Sparkleskirt arrived today - I’m in love. It is so pretty, so comfortable, so well-made! Must order more…someone confiscate my credit card!!
So over the weekend was the local Donut Derby bike race. 36 miles of repetitive loops requiring a stop each loop at the donut check point. 3 minutes taken off your time for each donut consumed under the watchful eyes of race marshals who made sure each donut was honestly eaten and swallowed. The key to winning was to figure out how to blend cycling speed with donut consumption. One of my Sturdy Girls friends won having consumed 7 donuts. The trick to the donut consumption, so I’ve been told, is to mush the donut into a compact ball and eat the whole thing in one or two bites. Krispy Kreme donuts galore!
Glad they were Krispy Kremes which are easy to gobble up! Some of the Top Pot (a local chain) creations are unmushable.
Oh man, 7 donuts!!! I love donuts, but…
3.5 miles in the heat. Next run is my 5k Saturday morning as long as there are no storms!
I would throw up- and I love donuts! Have a good 5K abasket!
MOWC, did you fly today and how did your ears do?

Not to try to outdo your Sturdy Girls friends, but…my husband managed to consume 9 Krispy Kreme donuts in the time that it took to get from the store to the freeway (two blocks). I think he’d do well in that competition.
There are only 190 calories in a KK original glazed donut… Just sayin’
That’s what they were, original glazed. There were riders in the race that actually ate 15! My friend decided to go for speed instead of donuts because after 7, well use your imagination of where the 8th would have ended up, lol.
"There are only 190 calories in a KK original glazed donut… Just sayin’ "
You shameless hussy, trying to push your Devil’s food upon us
So if didn’t eat anything else, maybe I could have 10-11 of these every day?
“MOWC, did you fly today and how did your ears do?”
Dang it, I meant to mention that besides taking Sudafed, to snort some Afrin before you fly. I wouldn’t consider flying without taking that, if there was any risk. But I hope you are t going to end up really sick. Flying and running when you’re kind of sick can make it turn really badly.
I want to be on your diet, bus!
I liked an article from Strava this morning - five rules for fueling ultra long runs by ultrarunners.
- Eat whole foods and avoid the packages.
- Don't restrict yourself. Eat what you crave.
- Eat amply and eat often.
- Keep it simple.
- Listen to YOUR body.
I’d like to link, but the first word in the link is “blog” and it doesn’t seem to fit any of the exceptions to a private blog, so if you’re interested google Strava blog and “5 Rules for Fueling Ultra Long Runs” and you should find it. Good tips for eating in general - number one is my favorite!
Hope your flight went okay, MOWC. Rest day for me today, other than pup walks!
I did fly and I was ok. Thanks! There was some crackling, but nothing serious. I’m not congested and wasn’t sick with a cold or anything . My Eustachean tube blocked up. I used my Flonase and the Sudafed. I hate the Sudafed. I chewed gum. Thanks for checking on me! It was a tiring day, and I had work issues to handle during it, but we are now in the Poconos!
Great to hear that you got to the Poconos. I hear it’s going to be hot, hot, hot.
Been running and playing golf. It’s been humid and raining here. Ran in a misty rain yesterday, I love running in mist.
Upped my run intervals again. Struggled, but made it this AM. Still very humid and hot even at 6:45 AM.
So I’ve been in NY and NJ for four days and I’ve managed to get a hot sweaty run in on three very early mornings. I have enormous respect for those of you who’ve been dealing with this all summer. I ran at 7 am today and finished three miles soaking wet, and not because I ran through sprinklers.
It’s definitely a lot more pleasant to run in Portland! Trails and quiet instead of asphalt, sidewalk, and cars. (I did find a gravel trail this morning for part of my run. Nice.)
3 pretty but humid/hot miles in the Poconos this morning. Took it slow as part of my “taper”.
3.4 hot and humid miles this morning with Back on My Feet.
Those Krispy Kremes sound really good right now!
Glad you made it there OK, MOWC. Good luck with your race!
Another 20,000 steps day. Tomorrow H and I are renting a tandem bike and doing a bike tour of Prague!
