That’s a great idea!
Thanks for sharing that Aquacore update MOWC. Sounds like it could be a riot (the first part anyway - getting on the mat) with a group of friends! What will they think of next?!!!
Sixty minutes on the Cybex arc machine–followed it up with 20 minutes of exercises for balance
and some yoga poses. i am waiting for the redness on my wrist to go away before using my Fitbit again. Seems really weird not to have it on–I keep checking for steps. Decided to sign up for the 30-day yoga challenge.
For all you TRX lovers, have fun with this abs workout!

4 mile run outside today and 4 more miles of walking. Horrible news for my feet–an infected ingrown toenail on the big toe. This happened after my 11 mile run last week
I have an antibiotic and an appointment with a podiatrist–absolutely dreading that. And…Dh’s back is still out, improving very, very slowly with the help of a PT. It hasn’t been the best week for fitness in our household.
Ouch Plantmom! Maybe you should rest that toe even more? I hope your appt is not as dreadful as you are imagining! And hope that PT helps to move your H forward - tough for active people to be shut down!
PlantMom, you will survive the appointment.
It is a good thing you are going to see a specialist - infections can be serious deals. Hope you will be able to do something else while your foot heals. Hugs.
Sorry to hear all of that Plantmom. Hope you both get some relief soon!
Boo on the toe! Does it throb? I hope the doc can get it ok again!
I’m back at the Broadmoor, which is probably one of the most gorgeous places I’ve ever been. Tonight the dinner was at a lodge higher up the mountain with incredible views and S’Mores outside on the terrace. I’m in a different part of the property than last week so have to run around the perimeter to hit the regular running route.
So much to catch up on! I love this thread and all of you on it, but honestly sometimes I really have a hard time staying current with everyone. I had a 15 mile run on Saturday that went pretty well. The rest of the weekend is a blur, too many things to get done with not enough time to do it all. Monday I got 8 miles in after work. Tuesday was a travel day with plenty of airline snafus, but I made it out to Silicon Valley (business trip) eventually last night. I had a really nice 10 mile run tonight after work. It was on a great trail that went all the way out to the bay. It was really nice not having any street crossings, but the downside was that there were lots of ups and downs elevation changes with all the overpasses across highways and roads. It was fun to see so many people out running and biking. There is clearly a pretty large contingent of people who commute to the tech companies out here by bike. I love it!
MOWC - you had me at s’mores… Enjoy your trip.
PlantMom - ouch, the toe sounds really painful. I’m glad you’re going to the doctor to get it taken care of. Sorry about your husband, it must be hard to be out of commission like that.
Bunsen - I’m sure the UPS man appreciates the upgrade on your front door. :))
The aquamat class sounds really interesting and challenging. It sounds like something I could benefit from with my balance issues. Is PG in time out again?
Sorry about the toe, and hope it’s better soon, plantmom.
Not fitness related but does the Broadmoor still have the sing-along piano bar, MOWC? It used to be located in one of the annex buildings and was called Golden Bee. When H and I lived in the Springs 35 years ago we loved it.
Yes! The Golden Bee was right across from where I stayed last week. I didn’t get to go, though. The building I’m in this week has a bowling alley… This really is an incredible place.
I think you should lead a running retreat for all of us at the Broadmoor, MOWC - sounds like a fabulous place.
That toe sounds awful, PlantMom - hope you get some relief soon.
I have been fighting a stomach bug yesterday and last night. Queasiness and upset stomach - missed a run yesterday but I just couldn’t do it. We have a big weather front moving in and the changes in pressure woke me up at 4 am with a raging headache. So I went to the gym and hit the treadmill - about my least favorite thing to do. Why is it when I’m in the home stretch I just feel like I’m falling apart completely?
Long walk yesterday morning; hundreds of golf balls at the driving range yesterday afternoon. I’m pretty sure I’ve figured out why I’ve had such lousy rounds of golf the last several times I’ve played … Cool, cloudy and very breezy here. Quick overnight trip up to Cambridge this afternoon. Will take the pup for a long walk before leaving.
Healing mojo to all in need.
@C3Baker Yes!!
I’m sorry you are not feeling well sabaray. Hope it passes quickly.
Shake off the doubts Sabaray - that bug will probably be long gone in the next 24-48 hours - hope you feel better!
What abasket said. We always feel like we are falling apart in the home stretch.
Well, since I’m an expert on running from the Broadmoor since I had 3 runs last week, this morning I ventured a little off my “known” route and promptly got lost. I wasn’t lost in the sense that I had no idea where I was, but I wasn’t easily getting back to the roads I needed to be on. I added some hills for myself as a result, but finally got back on the right route. Did 6.1 instead of 5 so I can go shorter tomorrow. I felt like I handled the altitude better than last week even though I had a few days back at sea level in between. Lots of bunnies and deer. 44 degrees.
I am really liking my Brooks Ghost 9s.
Yeah, it will be fine. I’m reminding myself of how I felt two years ago as my first marathon approached. I’ve worked so hard and just need to let the chips fall where they may. Lined up two friends to run with me Saturday, which will be good. Not doing circuit class tonight so I’ll be rested on Saturday. Made a reservation for Sabadog and Sabapup to stay at a pet resort where they will get lots and lots of activity over marathon weekend - don’t know if I’ll be feeling up to a lot of pup walks after the race. The last time we kenneled them they did not get their usual level of activity and were, shall we say, all fired up when they returned home. This time we are paying through the nose for them to be exhausted!
@GertrudeMcFuzz — I keep looking at the Sparkle Skirts and thinking they look like fun. Can you give a review now that you’ve had yours a while? I’d especially like to know what the sizing is like. They say to size by the waist size, but I have a narrow waist relative to my hips and thighs and I’m wondering if they’ll be too, um… compressive … in the thighs.
@dmd77 - well, here’s the most telling thing. As soon as I had run-tested my skirt, I immediately bought 2 more! So now I have 3 & I have my eye on a few more because now I don’t want to run in anything else. They are so comfortable, I love the big pockets AND I really feel a little more “covered up” than I do in tights.
I bought a small - I’m 5’3" and about 120 pounds. It fits well everywhere - the fabric’s very stretchy. I don’t find the thighs too compressive - they have a wide band at the bottom so it minimizes any “muffin-top” phenomenon. I have one each of the swing-style, slim-cut and vented slim-cut, and all 3 are great to run in - no feeling of restriction. I think I’ve decided I like the slim-cut the best, though most of my run club folks seem to like the swing style best. In my second two, I had the “music hole” added, so you can keep your phone in the big leg pocket & run earphones through the skirt - I will keep getting that in all future skirts.
As you can see - I’m very enthusiastic!! Let me know if you order one!
