Aw, kmc, I hate that. I really enjoyed hearing about your battles with the hill, the terrain, the brush…I hope you’re able to get back to the hill - you certainly sound committed to that end.
It felt so good to sleep until 6:30 today. So good.

Nice to see you @kmcmom13 :-h Sorry to hear about your injuries.
@kmcmom13 , I’m with the others! Miss you and your morning adventures with nature!!!
I hate that you have to miss the hill and hope you can get back up there!
3.1 gloomy, warm miles this morning.
deb922…Thank you so very much!!! Your info was very, very helpful and I am very appreciative.
NM ha ha if you’re walking you definitely need warm layers! I visited my brother in Mpls over Thanksgiving once. It was 35 degrees. He called it a heat wave!
That would be a heat wave!
Waving hi to @kmcmom13! Sorry to hear about your bad reaction to cipro, but kudos on not giving up and getting the pool bubble!
Thanks, guys. I’ll try to do a better job of keeping y’all posted but keeping up with this thread is a bit like drinking from a firehose
Lol! Just get a few sips, and it will still be refreshing!
Last night was a fast 5 mile run. I love these cool temperatures. Tonight is a workout at the gym with my trainer.
I would like to talk to anyone who says global warming isn’t a thing. Went to Vancouver for a race - unseasonably warm. This weekend - highs near 80. Today it’s overcast and 60 degrees. Someone up there really doesn’t like me!
sabaray, that is my story, too. My first marathon - 80 degrees, zero shade, and record heat registered. My latest race - close to 90 degrees and record heat and humidity. Good luck with your race, and fingers crossed that it would not be that hot at the finish.
Really? Suppose to be 80 in the DC area this weekend? Maybe it’s suppose to warm up here but it’s currently 46 and gloomy as all get out!
What time does the race start Sabaray? It will probably only be 80 for a minute at 3pm. Maybe more important to look at the low that early morning???
Race is a rolling start from 7:55 am to 8:55 am - because of Metro issues. Looks like 60 degrees at the start. It’s going to be warm. I’m going to try and cover a lot of ground early - take advantage of those cooler temps early on. I had really wanted to try and run the second half faster, but with the projected conditions that is unlikely to happen. I hope to be across the start line by 8:15 or so.
That is a bit later of a start. 60 it is. You certainly won’t have to bundle! May I ask where the start and finish is? I won’t be there of course but after just being in DC a couple weeks ago I’m curious.
Start at the Pentagon, finish at the Iwo Jima Memorial. What do you mean you’re not coming? =((
My RL friend who runs sort of recreationally but has done many 1/2’s and marathons (did Chicago a couple weeks ago - did Sabaray’s race last year and loved it!) just sent me a text saying they are headed for a vacation in Grand Cayman the 1st of December . She realized the Grand Caymen Whole/Half is when they are there and she decided the race would be something “fun” to do while on the island - fun?? That’s debatable!
My daughter ran Marine Corps in 2012 and loved it. It is an uphill finish up to the monument and she prepared for that, but hadn’t prepared for all the people walking up that hill who would be in her way! I ran the race back in the early 80s and thought the course was pretty interesting if you pay attention, which is hard to do in a marathon, actually. I ran it injured, so I didn’t have a terrific day, but the Marines were very inspiring.
Love MCM! The scenery is inspiring and the race is run super efficiently. The year I did it a woman in front of me collapsed from calf cramps maybe 100 yds from the finish. I stopped to help her back to her feet. She collapsed again. Then a team of Marines rushed in to the rescue! They rubbed her legs, got her up, and she finished.
