Hugs and peace, sabaray.
IMO, tools for mental wellness must be in place in order to work on the other aspects of health and wellness. 100% family support is important. Your mom is missing out Sabaray on a wonderful, caring woman and person.<3
sabaray…sending many big hugs and warm thoughts and prayers. You bring happiness to many.
@Classof2015, we’ve been here on the thread for almost 7 years now - so there’s going to be a lot of history that’s really hard to catch everyone up on. In short - I am an emotional eater - I used to bury my feelings in food - now, according to my husband, I bury them in exercise! So it’s a victory for me not to be heading to the drive through or donut aisle for a big binge. Pity party over! My daughter will be here and that will be awesome.
Aw…hang in there! Thanks for filling me in. What a great turnaround to bury your feelings in food instead!
sabaray- hugs. Your mother is missing out! Enjoy your daughter. If you are an emotional exerciser- well, good for you!
3 1/2 miles on the treadmill this morning. There was a lot of ice outside (freezing fog), so I stayed in. I need fresh air- but not that badly. Will try to do a little more at work this afternoon before some evening activities (Beer and Carols at a cool brewery).
I wasn’t sure if I should share this here or on @abasket’s other holiday tips thread - I thought it was a really fun article.

“Exercise is fun. So is eating. Find a healthy balance of both over the course of the year, and we’ll all be fine.”
Sabaray, cyberhugs.
Eek – I meant bury them in exercise! Sorry about that
Hugs sabaray, know that you can have a relationship with your D that is very different than the one you have with your mother. I think about that all the time.
And exercising instead of eating is a better choice. Your health is what is important, not what anyone else does to sabotage that. Either consciously or unconsciously.
It’s warm out (well, 48, but it feels positively balmy!) and I ran just over five miles with the dog today. It was wonderful! We both feel refreshed and energized from getting out again. I’m really hoping the ice storm and the snow storm are it for winter here.
Ahh- just got one of those little life lessons. I was sneaking on down to the gym to get in a few miles that I probably did not need to be doing. Got in the locker room, complicated boots and jewelry off, half changed- realized I didn’t have shoes! I keep some shoes at the office and then add them to the bag of running clothes I bring from home. Decided not to be stupid and run in socks. Got all back dressed and back across the buildings to my office. Oh well- I got some steps in with the to and from! So- no more running for me today!
Glad that you decided not to run in socks. I did it once… even with the socks on, the dreadmill belt still did a number on my feet. That thing is like sandpaper!
Decided against the blood donation. Didn’t want to chance falling down that deep dark hole.
Instead did something just as painful—treadmill running. 8 x .20 and 2 x .25 @ 5:00 min mile pace.
Good morning! It’s officially winter so at least the days start getting longer after today
I have the day off before traveling tomorrow, so I’ll be out there running in a bit. Signed up for the NYE morning 5K.
Got to swim and run. Probably won’t get to do anything for a few days due to travel.
Report #2 on Series 2 IWatch:
To track exercise, you must open the exercise application and select the exercise you want to track. Did an indoor cycling routine last night. Forgot to open the exercise app on the watch. No tracking as a result. Hard to remember to do it when my primary tracker for indoor cycling is the Trainer Road software on my laptop that controls the Wahoo Kickr. Curiously, the StrongLift app on my phone that I use for my lifting routine does log the length of the routine as an activity on the watch but My Fitness Pal won’t do the same with cycling that I enter into it even though MFP is also connected to the watch.
Also, the watch does not natively track sleep. You must download a third party application and remember to open the app when you go to bed and close it when you wake up in the morning. Another thing to forget to do. There are also reports that doing so results in a battery drain so that you need to charge the watch before you leave in the morning. The wrist band fitness trackers do a more seamless job with sleeping.
It is cool though to get phone calls that link to the watch. Reminds me of the old Dick Tracy comics, lol.
Actually had a good treadmill run this morning with some speedwork (such as it is these days). I guess skipping the afternoon run yesterday and fueling with beer last night did the trick! There was freezing fog again this morning and I just couldn’t face it outside. We are warming up, though, and there is SUN!
The iWatch sounds way too complicated for me but I’m sure Michael will have everything down in no time!
Pilates this morning - I have a really tight hamstring/hip flexor/piriformis issue that’s hurting my form so I’m getting my first ever massage tomorrow. I feel a little guilty about it but I’m hoping it helps work out some of the knots. I’m sure it’s from running so much.
Nice surprise gift from my MIL - Lulu gift card.
You deserve the massage! Cool on the Lulu gift card. Use it wisely!
I got my daughter the cutest tank top for Christmas that I know she will love. It’s from a site that has all sorts of funny athletic-themed shirts. This one says “That’s a terrible idea! What time do we start?”
