Try to get some sleep @busdriver11 . I’m sorry you aren’t going into feeling better physically - so time to bring the mental game up! One mile at a time - 13 times - piece of cake.
Let us know how it goes. Be safe and make good decisions for your body.
Actually, maybe this being irritated about doing this run is a good thing, because I’m not nervous and stressed out about it. I have exercised fairly regularly, but haven’t actually run for three weeks because I was protecting my feet, and they’re still ripped up. I am so annoyed! But after tomorrow, hopefully it is all done and I don’t have to do another for a long time.
Lots of walking today. That’s about it. I’m back to feeling like 6 plus miles is a reasonable walking distance but long for running. I guess that means I can now have new (old) goals, lol. In my universe of alternative facts, I can always run a half marathon. (Not…)
Bunse, you need to redefine “splurge”! That is really pretty. I love rose gold.
Yesterday’s workshop was excellent. Lots of stretching and foam rolling - I always forget the many ways you can use the roller. Got some new stretches for my hip flexors which are always a trouble spot for me.
Walked the pups this morning - I want to run as we are now under a high wind warning which means the treadmill tomorrow, but I’m afraid my legs will be too tired for this afternoon if I do, so treadmill tomorrow it will be. Assuming we have electricity - the warnings are pretty dire.
Currently on the FL Panhandle; first stop on our trip north. Our Air Force S is here for the next several years. Toured the townhouse he bought – he’s redoing much of it and it’s a real mess. H is all stressed out about it, but it’ll get done. Took him out to dinner (BBQ) and then to a brew pub. Will spend today with him, and then leave first thing in the morning for a l-o-n-g drive to Greensboro, NC.
Took pup for a walk this morning from the hotel. Started walking over a long bridge (it had sidewalks), which was fine until we got to the middle and encountered a bunch of guys fishing. The problem was they occupied entire sections of the sidewalk, making it impossible to pass by without them having to move a bunch of their stuff. They gave us dirty looks, but it’s not like we were on private property! Fortunately, on the other side of the bridge there were traffic lights and crosswalks, so we crossed to the other side on the return trip. (Nobody fishing on that side.)
@BunsenBurner – I love that Charge 2! My concern would be what if it doesn’t last/falls apart after the 1 year warranty? Heck, that’s my concern with buying a regular Charge 2. If I get one, I’m actually thinking of buying the extended warranty – which H and I never buy on anything.
Bought myself a Valentine’s gift today- new running shoes and insoles. Basically the newer version of the shoes I have been running in over the last year.
I bought a new pair this week too - trying to NOT wear them until a little closer to spring - so much mud, puddles, guck around right now. I ordered mine online. Thinking about taking them into the running store for a little extra insole support. Do you think it’s rude to do that? Ask them to insole a pair they didn’t sell? I mean, not everyone walks in the store for shoes - sometimes they just purchase socks or other accessories?
Are you saying "why do you need extra cushioning in new shoes? Is it atypical to want that? Do you find that getting some insoles extends the life of the shoes? This is a new area for me - appreciate advice.
notrichenough- Those replacement bands in your link got pretty bad reviews. That’s the problem- most of them are China aftermarket bands. The ones I got for my Alta got good reviews, so maybe there are better ones out there for the Charge. The quality can be very bad and the clasps can be less than secure.
abasket- Lots of people put upgraded insoles in new shoes. iDad and some of us were big on SuperFeet. I still use my purple SuperFeet (women’s model) in one model of Hokas I have. I don’t see anything wrong with taking your shoes in to the store to try some. A sale is a sale- even if it just insoles.
I have SuperFeets in my shoes that I kept moving to the new pair. I don’t think a shoe store would question the source of your shoes - I have often bought insoles and socks at my local store while my shoes came from elsewhere. I like the superfeets because they keep my feet perfectly positioned inside the shoe and prevent my feet from sliding around.
Yeah, I wasn’t endorsing them, just showed them as an example of something close to the style and color of the Nordstrom’s one (which is not unique to Nordstroms, you can get it on the fitbit web site).
Here’s one I actually did order, because it is a little longer than the regular ones, and I wanted to have something to use while I am sending the original band back to fitbit. I should have just posted this one:
