abasket- Must be lonely without the pup (and the husband)!
4 miles this morning because I went into work late. I had some overnight houseguests and we were up later than normal for me and had all sorts of Asian Fusion takeout for dinner. (and wine) I’m in a not sleeping well stage.
I’ve been banned from my online women’s RunningAhead group. They don’t welcome contrary opinions, even if delivered very respectfully. I am considered to be a bully. It’s pretty much a Mean Girls thing, which one wouldn’t expect from women in their 40s and 50s (mainly). It’s better for me to be out of it and it REALLY makes me appreciate our discussions in this group and the tremendous knowledge and support. So- thank you.
Wow, MOWC, so much for sharing your years of experience and wisdom with others! Well, the RunningAhead’s loss is our gain as you can focus your advice on those of us here who appreciate the counsel. Still, it must be frustrating to be banned. I miss one of our banned former posters.
re: the after-burn, I have read that it happens after 45 minutes of interval training. I know that after 45 minutes of up and down sprints on the Stairmaster, I am wiped out for at least a half hour. I wouldn’t be surprised if I reached after-burn, but now after reading your posts are making me wonder? hmm, sure feels like it.
@MomofWildChild – my sympathies–that happened to me a year or so ago, and I’ve been happier without the group, but it is a shock to discover that junior high attitudes live on!
Unbelievable weather for Febuary in Massachusetts–mid-60s. Went out with a friend and we did a 6.2 mi walk (same route the local running club uses for its 10K races). Plan to go restorative yoga class tonight.
MOWC–I think mean girls never change–they always think they know everything. Went to an HS reunion a few years ago and the mean girls were still that way many, many, years later!
45 minutes on the Arc machine this morning, plus lots of walking in downtown Boston – in and out of camera shops and a few other stores I just couldn’t pass by without going in. Result: some camera information and advice AND a new short-sleeve workout top. Amazingly warm for February – people in flip flops and shorts …
Yes it was a beautiful day here in CT today too! Stuck in the office for most of it, but did go out for an early morning run with pup. It’s nice that it’s light at a decent hour now. One reason I really don’t look forward to the earlier switch to daylight savings time…Back to dark mornings for a while.
MoWC, cant believe you’d get chastised in another group. CC is really my only online community so I guess I’m pretty spoiled.
I like different opinions and different viewpoints. Sorry that happened to you MOWC.
Went for a run today, my 82 year old neighbor wanted to walk with me so we had a nice stroll. Then I did a little run. Our weather was a bit colder today, tomorrow we might be back to more seasonal weather. As I’ve said before, I don’t mind the colder weather. It’s February. I know I’m in the minority.
H had food poisoning today, men are not good sick people.
I was supposed to run 5 miles. However, I teach and towards the end of the school day I started getting a headache. After two hours of after school tutoring, I couldn’t wait to get home. I had to shove some food in my mouth and then I promptly fell asleep. I’m up now and probably could go, but I still feel the headache lingering. I can already tell this half isn’t going to go how I was hoping and I’m so tired, so I figure skipping tonight is my best bet. I have a job fair on Saturday morning and then I need to do 7 miles.
I enjoyed reading about the HIT stuff. There is a class at my gym that focuses on that but I can’t go because it’s during the work day (why are most classes at my gym, at least the ones I want to go to, during the day?!). Hopefully in the summer I’ll be able to try some of these out!
Deb you sound like a good cook - hope your H feels better and that he didn’t get the food poisoning at home!
I managed two good walks today outside - the one before work and one at lunchtime. My new sometimes workplace has a large park across the street and neighborhood for walking in. I wouldn’t feel safe going too far, but when it’s nice and it’s noontime it’s great for a 20-30 minute walk. Couldn’t believe no one else in my dept was heading out to enjoy the weather - it was gorgeous!
Another mid 60’s day. Tomorrow high of 71. Then the bottom falls out. If we get anymore frigid days or snow I’m blaming winter loving @deb922.
600 days, WOW!! MOWC, that’s so ridiculous that you got banned on that other forum. A little bit of power and delicate egos lead to authoritarian intolerance.
The women’s running/walking training registration I did last year opened registration today. Guess who is such a nerd she is already signed up?
Supposed to be 75 here again today so I am leading a lunchtime walk with several coworkers. There is a path in some woods behind my office that I want to explore.
MK, I enjoyed looking at those breakfast options as I sit here eating my avocado toast!
600 days- bet no one on that mean girls forum can top that!!! Congrats - it’s so impressive.
So fun @FallGirl that you’ll be leader of the pack. Maybe you’ll start a trend for when it’s truly spring!
I too am missing BB and Sabaray very very much. Your voices are obviously missing. This thread is (mostly) like a well oiled machine - we all have our areas of interest, expertise, and “attitude” - all which makes this thread so, so enjoyed - and needed. When parts of that machine are missing, the operation is a little rusty. Everyone here matters. Come back soon EVERYONE!
Thanks. I’m trying to equal my long streak of 960 days.
Missing sabaray and BB, too.
2.1 miles this morning for an easy day. Going to try 13 tomorrow as part of a group training run in which I will pretty much be by myself (my daughter is going to do the early miles with me but she is turning back early since she is tapering for her goal 1/2 marathon next week) but at least I will know others are out there running and there will be water stops.
Tomorrow is a half marathon that I am not looking forward to and I really have no idea why we signed up for it. It’s a trail run in a park - lots of ravines, so it’s very hilly and plenty of rocks, tree roots, etc. Not groomed paths by any means. We have severe thunderstorms coming this afternoon and tonight, so it is bound to be very muddy. I enjoy short trail runs especially on good trails, but I’m not excited about this half marathon on a treacherous route. Hopefully it will go better than what I am fearing.
MOWC - congrats on that streak! So very impressive, especially that your average is 5 miles a day. That’s a lot of miles! Good luck with your run tomorrow, glad that you will have water stops.
I sure hope BB and sabaray come back. I echo deb922’s thoughts about valuing different viewpoints and different opinions.
