sabaray- Is that what Tugger does? (Tugger is a facebook friend of ours (he’s a dog) It looks and sounds very challenging, dmd! Good for you!

Yep, Tugger has an agility title but I think he really only enjoys the tunnels.

And the food decoys! Any dog lovers who aren’t following Tugger (TuggerTales) on facebook, get thee over there!

Found out last minute that my class after work go canceled. Was going to go for a walk, but there is a chance of a storm. If it’s anything like Saturday it’ll come fast and hard, and I don’t want to be stuck outside for that. I’m going to try a quick core video on one of my apps. From what I remember, there are some that are 10-15 minutes, but I feel it for the next few days!

Normally on Wednesdays I have a meeting after work, and it’s not unusual for these to last over two hours. ( 8-| ). We’ll be able to start our meeting early tomorrow, so I might be able to make it to a tabata/core class. I really want to try this class, but all the other times are during work.

MoWC, it’s great to hear you talk about your job like that! Wonderful when it all works out!

Dmd, I agree how cool! I have never really watched a dog show but Rumor, the German shepherd, won top honors at the Westminster Dog Show lives in our area and was all over the news of course recently.

Cough/chest thing is improving but waiting another day to run. Did manage a 2.5 mile purposeful walk. And I did eat one paczki this morning - 1/2 creme and a 1/2 raspberry. I’m normally not really that much of a fan but they are tradition around here. Have to say, I took the time to purchase from a stellar bakery here and I did enjoy it!

@sabaray – I hadn’t watched those videos in a while. Daisy was absolutely at the top of her game and taking a lot of risks trying to make the European Open team! As for Frodo coming off the side of the teeter, well, it depends. The rule is that the dog must put at least a toenail in the yellow zone before leaving, when performing the teeter, dogwalk, and a-frame. If he doesn’t, a fault is called. The judge did not call a fault (she would have raised both hands to signal a contact fault) so Frodo must have touched the yellow zone. It was very close, though!

My dog is not as fast as Frodo–I know this because we’ve competed over the same courses and Rush is consistently about 10% slower (Frodo is one of the fastest border collies in the country, and Rush is one of the fastest poodles, but BCs are just plain faster dogs). And I am not as fast as Daisy, either, but yes, dog agility can require some serious fitness. However, there are handlers who use voice commands to direct their dogs from a distance while they WALK around the course–and some of them are incredibly successful! I see dogs that know instructions like “left” and “right”. I have a good friend with a papillon (a very small dog) who is 77 and waiting for a hip replacement–which she won’t get done until late May because our national competition is in mid-May. She limps around the course, but she recently got an award for “high in trial” for toy dogs.

Edited to add: got off my rear and took Rush for a run today, first one since Friday. It wasn’t raining!

Dog agility is a hard exercise! My hat is off to you, dmd. My sister did it for a while, but her business and kids now consume her free time completely.

Wow, dmd! Kudos to you and the dogs that participate in dog agility. That’s a tough workout.

Congrats to the weekend racers! And MoWC, what a promotion. You deserve it!

I have been running every other day, and walking a bunch. DH and I hiked over the weekend though a nature preserve, lugging cameras. Whew! Temps soaring into the upper 80’s tomorrow. The heat is on, it seems.

Glad to see BB and sabaray back!

March is off to a great start - hit the horrible hill this morning and actually ran negative splits at a pace that was moderately faster than the speed of an iceberg moving. This is a huge deal for me and I am so excited. I think the cross-training is really helping plus really watching the food intake. I wasn’t hungry at dinner last night so I didn’t eat dinner, just an apple and some cheese. Monday I ended up taking a TRX class at lunch - the studio is very close to my office and it fit in my schedule, so why not? I’m trying to be better about not just taking my favorite classes and doing more of the work I need to do - think it’s finally starting to pay off.

That’s terrific sabaray! Negative splits are tough to achieve. You do a great job of varying your workout - I think it is paying off.

Way to go, Sabaray! Proud of you!

Miscalculated my timing this morning before my flight and only had time to run 1 mile. It’s going to be a long day, but maybe I can get out for some miles when I get to Napa. If my flight gets through the rapidly approaching bad storms, I plan to get my Ash Wednesday ashes when I land in Oakland. A friend/priest is doing Ashes to Go not far from the airport and I want to see her!

The storms came later last night so I was able to get 3.25 miles in with the running club. It’s rainy and windy here now, but the rain should stop by mid-afternoon. I just checked and my training plan calls for an 8 mile run tonight - that snuck up on me, I didn’t realize I needed to be doing the longer mid-week runs already. Oh boy!

sabaray - wow, you are really doing great. I think it is fantastic that you challenge yourself to do such a variety of workouts. I am not surprised that you are reaping the benefits!

dmd77 - I really enjoy reading about the dog agility training and competitions. I have a co-worker who is really involved with it and I always enjoy hearing her talk about how her competitions go.

PlantMom - good job with running every other day, as well as the walking and hiking. It is hard for me to imagine those kind of temperatures this time of year!

I need to stop procrastinating and get busy with work.

Not happy about the steps I’m not getting on this 4 1/2 hour flight! But- quite a bit of tornado damage not far from my house this morning after I got to the airport. Everything is fine at my house, but one of my old dogs was terrified.

Glad your home is okay, MOWC - looks like some serious damage in that area. Leading edge of the front is almost upon us - we’ve got alerts up until 5 pm. I’m having a hard time concentrating on work as I am really a big chicken in this kind of weather!

Stay safe y’all!

Those travel days seek havoc on our step counts unless you have time to roam the airport. Airplane aisles don’t cut it!

Our weather is going from storms overnight (mostly a lot of rain) to wind and 60 degrees right now to snow showers tonight and cold tomorrow. Travel day to Cleveland tomorrow for a meeting - I SWEAR it snows every time I have to go to Cleveland!

The wind and drop in temps may keep me inside today for fitness.

3.8 miles this morning – or thereabouts. The treadmill died just when I was starting my 5 minutes of cool down.

Happy March 1 everyone! I’m one of those people who can’t wait until the time changes, and that’s just 11 days away!!

I walked to yoga and got caught in a thunderstorm on the way back. The last 2 blocks were done at full run.

Yesterday I ran about 6 miles – and my thighs were not happy during some of those yoga poses today!

I’m with you CBB – can’t wait for the time to change!

Sabaray, what impresses me so much is your determination to improve. I just do things, without any goals – you want to get faster and stronger and work so hard at it. I think that’s awesome.

This has been a warm winter. We bought snow tires this year (our reliable in-the-snow car died, so now we just have a lightweight one) – and we never had to drive in the snow! Not once! Well, I guess there is still time.

Thank you, @fireandrain. It is easy to get discouraged - I didn’t have much success with putting in more running miles, so I’ll be curious to see if I do better with some upcoming races. I’ve come to the conclusion I enjoy running. I’ve also concluded I don’t like racing. Y’all should come visit for some Pilates workouts!

Swam yesterday with my group. Not too far, but an IM work out so good enough. (When we swim all strokes there is more instruction and we swim slower strokes.) Ran 3 miles today. About a month ago I was feeling great, bullet proof, and now I feel…meh. I think all the traveling we have been doing and the disrupted schedule has messed me up.

Tore my left calf (gastrocnemius) muscle last night. After a weekend of high intensity TRX plyo exercises, with no injuries, I tore my calf while training a client. I am pissed to say the least. Freak occurrence but it happened. And this weekend I’m going to be in Miami for the wedding of our closest friends’ son. Right now, I can’t dorsiflex or plantarflex at the ankle under any load. I’m walking like Herman Munster. Grrrrrr.
