Ok. I read the info. Non-competitive is a misnomer. There will be timing and prizes. Nope. Not in my hurting state. On the other hand…

MOWC, the podiatrist said there is only one brand for my type of foot that is narrow in the heel, and wide in the toebox, Altra. He wanted me to get the Altra Turin, and they feel pretty good. I’d tried Altras before but not this one.

I had a pair of Altra Torins! They were good. I think baby kiddo swiped them… As well as many of my dress boots and shoes.

I think you might have recommended those, Bunsen. But I was told I pronated, and these are neutral shoes, so I didn’t try them.

Kids, they steal whatever they like! Luckily I have boys.

I like Altra Paradigm. They are the most cushioned. He might not know about Topo, which are also narrow in the heel, wide toe box and zero drop. I think Topo UltraFly might be better than Altra for that category.

I think all Altra shoes are triangle-shaped: narrow in the heel and wide at the toes.

Kids… Please don’t get me started on he Burberry coat that kiddo borrowed and lost… sigh.

I will try the UltraFly if I don’t like the Altra, but looking at the picture, while the shape looks great, there is a lot going on in that shoe in the place where I get the blisters. And the tiniest thing rubbing on my foot makes it worse. The Altras are very plain in the area that causes me pain.

Oh no, Bunsen! Is it lost for good?

My daughter got a half marathon s morning by over 3 minutes! 1:53:42. She’s been working so hard and Im really happy for her! My husband got 3rd in his age group in the 5K by 7 seconds. He said 1st and 2nd tied. Fast guys in 70-74!

I did 3.7 miles in the pepretty deserted industrial park. Leaving Napa this morning. Next stop Vegas.

1:53 is fast!! Kudos to your family. Have fun in Vegas!

Yup. The coat is gone with the wind. Bummer. Someone must have grabbed it when she was going through the madhouse airport security traveling back from an interview. Oh well.

Gorgeous day! We are going to finish Mr.'s “tiny” excavation project - to build a drain to make sure that when the next record snowfall happens, there will be no puddle in the remote part of the yard where no one ventures.

Congrats to your D @MomofWildChild !

Sorry about the coat, BB.

Just the usual Sat AM yoga then ran 3 miles. It’s sunny outside but cold so I opted for the treadmill. Need to look for a nearby 5K for March or April.

@busdriver11 - My feet are regular width in front with narrow heels , high arches and I pronate. Asics work well for me.

Congrats to your D, MOWC - her hard work is definitely paying off! Kudos to DOWC as well.

Low twenties this morning and a bit of a breeze but got 10 in. Mr. Sabaray and I then had breakfast out and ran a few errands. I’m ready for a nap!

Thanks, all. She’s really happy. Sabaray- nice long run!

I don’t want to complain about the weather. It is the Pacific Northwest and it does rain here. But I just went outside and discovered that my dog was barking at the SUN… which apparently she hasn’t seen in so long she considers it weird.

Did my long run yesterday (8.5 miles) and thought I was never going to be the same again. Whined all afternoon to anyone who would listen. This morning I’m way less sore than I expected and even managed to do a slow trot with the dog. That seems like progress.

Congrats to your daughter, MOWC and hoping your son is making a steady recovery.

@busdriver11 – I have the Altra One (as well as the Long Peak 2.5) and like the utter lack of any seaming in the (nice wide) toe box.

I have a question for the runners. I am doing this training plan: http://www.halhigdon.com/training/64492/Half-Marathon-Walk-Training-Program-HM3

I’m on week 5 and I’m supposed to do an 8 mile run today. Next week is kind of a step back week I guess. I’ll run tonight if I need to, but I was wondering how bad it would be to switch this Saturday’s run with next week’s, so I’d do a 5k today and an 8 mile run next week, instead. I could go down to a battlefield park that had a 4 mile trail, so I could do an out and back on that (next week- too far to do it today and I know my mom, who lives by it, would want to go there as well).

I normally stick with training plans as best as I can, and I’ve never switched any long runs before. Any feedback?

Way to go, D of MOWC! She must be so happy!

Cold and windy here, but bundled up and ran. I didn’t run since Tuesday. I need to get back on a schedule of running more often.

BB – that’s too bad about the coat. I hate it when I lose things like that.

Nahnah- People alter training plans all the time. You’ll be fine.

MOWC- Thanks. I’m going to do a 5k run today and the 8 mile run next week.

I already feel more excited about both runs. I’m going to try to use this “battlefield run” (I’ve never been to these trails before so I am not sure what it looks like/where it goes through) to help motivate me to eat better and drink more water instead of soda this coming week. For whatever reason, I can’t seem to kick this soda habit. I think if I can get that under control it would make a huge difference.

@nahnah12, can you stand the soda with stevia? I know many don’t like it, but it tastes the same to me.

@busdriver11, the only two sodas I like are Coke and Mountain Dew. The problem is the only other things I’ll drink are chocolate milk, OJ (and both of those I can only drink in the morning), and water. There was about a two year span where, except for breakfast, I only drank water and I was fine. I think it’s just getting through about the first week of doing that and I’d be fine. I just have to get through that first week! I’m so picky (wish I wasn’t- it’s not fun) and it’s really catching up to me right now.
