Yes, it felt like January out there again this morning between the dark, the cold, and the flurries starting.

Raise your hand if you’re expecting snow today. :frowning: 3-6 expected here. I know that’s nothing compared to some areas. But I still don’t want it!

12-16" expected, could reach 20" if it breaks right.

DD and I were going to hiking yesterday. 15 degrees, sub-zero wind chill… we wimped out and went out for lunch instead.

I do really enjoy the races. Being in a run club makes such a difference. I only know a small fraction of the members (mostly those who have a similar pace to me) but anytime you see someone in the team shirt on the course there are high fives & good wishes. And everyone meets before and after for photos & celebration of everyone’s accomplishment. The coaches often appear at various points on the course with treats and more encouragement. Just try to get discouraged in that atmosphere - it’s not going to happen!

Crazy busy weekend. Our kids came home for a very brief weekend visit and we had a really fun time running the 6 Miler race on Saturday morning. Then a whirlwind trip to celebrate FIL’s 85th birthday and to visit BIL in the hospital recovering from his bypass surgery. The race went well for me, not so much for H. He needs to go see somebody about his hip/upper leg issues. It has been 5 weeks now. He took a week and a half off of running prior to Saturday’s run, but he is much worse now.

Gertrude - great job on your half marathon! I am like you, I love doing the races. There is something about the whole atmosphere and running in a crowd of people that just makes it so much more fun! I’m glad you are enjoying your running club so much!

I am with all of you on the long training runs. I need to do an 18 mile run on Saturday and here I am on Monday already dreading it.

Gertrude – I didn’t realize you were part of a running club – what a good idea! It sounds like such a great source of motivation and encouragement, which is always welcome!

Congrats on the 6 Miler, C3Baker! Sorry about your hubby’s hip/upper leg issues. Good luck with the (ugh) 18 miler.

Our forecast is for 12-20 inches. Buffalo girl here. As long as I don’t have to personally shovel it, I don’t mind a little snow.

C3B- your husband definitely needs to get some medical advice on that. I hope it isn’t something that will linger.

Just couldn’t face the cold and dark this morning. 3.1 on the treadmill. Sabaray is my spirit animal!

If you were my neighbor you’d be out there running with us - except you’d be in the fast pack! I’m starting to feel like I’m getting my running mojo back. Just a little bit, so don’t expect too much. I made the mistake of having a beer last night and for whatever reason, that really slows me down. Wine is a much better choice!

Sabaray, beer is a good race recovery drink. I bet it signals your body that the job is done, now it is time to take it easy!

4.2 miles done. Also did a bunch of errands, including a grocery store run to stock up for the BIG snowstorm headed our way tomorrow. (12 - 18") Of course all of greater Boston was also stocking up – I had to go to a different store than usual because there was not one single parking place available, and there were at least 15 cars roaming around looking. I hate that parking lot under normal circumstances; this was beyond nuts!

Note to self: no beer until Saturday.

We’re supposed to get 5 to 8 inches of snow but also some icing which is a big problem here. They are already pre-treating the roads. Mr. Sabaray had some previously scheduled days off so I gave him a list of things to take care of. Of course, when I went home for lunch none of them were done. He’s about to experience the joy of the pre-storm grocery store which is usually mine!

Swim yesterday even though it was cold and drizzly, plus a walk with friends just for fun once the weather cleared up. Today a 4.3 mile run in the drizzle. I hope to sneak out to swim later, but we will see.

3.25 miles at the gym and a little rowing time for upper body. Also, regretfully, 20 mins of shoveling snow when I got home. :frowning: It’s blowing so some areas had more than others. Not that much out there yet, but I’m kind of obsessive about wanting my driveway, walks and deck cleared!

Maybe one more short pup walk and I’m in for the night. Making a homemade pizza. And a greens salad.

Hugs to all who have to deal with the S word. I feel guilty luxuriating in the sun here in HI! Went for a swim and are going on a hike. It is going to be a mighty hot one - there is barely any wind.

Kid is on a flight from Baltimore. Phew. No cancellations.

@GertrudeMcFuzz I’ll be thinking of you when I do my next race! I usually enjoy races, so hopefully I’ll be able to keep that up! I joined a training team for the marathon, and in August I’ll start one for the half I’ll do in November. It’s the same race that does the marathon, so hopefully this training team will be as good as the one for the full. I’d also like to find a group to run with after that half is done, too. It really does make it so much better!

We’re getting a weird mix here. It’s raining now, there was a bit of snow earlier, and they’re calling for a bit more snow later. I just want to know if we’ll be able to at least get a delay tomorrow!

I need to do four miles tonight. I’m hoping the weather isn’t too nasty so I can drive to the gym. For whatever reason I handle the treadmill better at that gym that my apartment’s gym.

(Water for lunch again today, yay! And wouldn’t you know it, the drink machine man came in during my lunch so I had to spend my entire lunch beside a whole stack of Cokes while he was putting them in!)

Great job avoiding that temptation, nahnah!

Oh BB, so envious!! (but I have a trip coming up to “warmth” later this week!)

Snow is supposed to start any minute. Varying amounts predicted anywhere from 6 inches to about a foot. Early AM yoga is already cancelled but I am planning an upper body strength workout in my driveway involving a shovel.

Good luck with all the “S”.

The only time I’m jealous of runners who are a lot faster than I am is when I’m on the treadmill and imagine how much faster they get finished going the same distance! Just saying…

Ed Whitlock died. So sad. Hero of mine.
