Omg, so sad.

^^^What great accomplishments!!

Yoga and weight training today. Orange Theory cancelled tomorrow–all schools as well. New forecast is 24 inches for my part of MA! I will be shoveling.

I’m sad about Ed Whitlock. He seemed like someone who would live forever.

I’d been tracking that storm for days – the moment I saw it was upgraded to a blizzard we called the airline we were flying to a warm and sunny locale and changed our flight. We were supposed to leave Tuesday morning – we managed to get on a flight Sunday night. Our original flight has been cancelled, but we don’t care because we’re at the beach!

I took a long walk today while my husband worked all day (the tradeoff for leaving a day early). Tomorrow I go for a run.

Oh geez – I remember reading about him for the first time in the NY Times in December – so sad! Plus fiancé just heard a college friend of his (same age – 63) just died. Son found him asleep on the couch. Gone. Life is so short.

More Ed Whitlock:
“I don’t particularly enjoy this daily drudge, it’s something that has to be done if you want to run well,” Whitlock said in 2012. "I suppose it’s the sense of satisfaction to be able to keep going for one thing.

“And to run well, for another [reason]. I suppose I’m results-oriented, I’m mainly running for certain times in races, setting records, that sort of thing is what gives me my satisfaction I guess. And I find for me the more running I do the better I’ll race. That’s the incentive.”

So bummed about Ed.

We made it through the hike. It was hot! Barely a tradewind today, so it felt much hotter than it was. I reminded Mr. that I ran a marathon in similar conditions, only with hills. We made it back in 2 hours, which was pretty good for this 6-mile hike.

I managed 5 miles last night but it wasn’t pretty. I talked myself out of doing the April marathon I am signed up for during the run. Of course, later in the nice hot shower, I was already reconsidering. I’m still on the fence.

BB - I hope you’re enjoying that warm sunshine! Your hike sounds awfully hot, but hopefully it was enjoyable!

We only ended up with a little snow. Sorry to those of you who will be doing lots of shoveling. It has been a crazy winter for sure!

Sounds like a tough hike, Bunsen!
C3B- I talk myself out of races while I’m lying in bed not wanting to get up to train!

Speaking of- didn’t sleep well and the wind was howling this morning. Couldn’t do it. 2.5 on the treadmill. I’m going to Corpus on business tomorrow-Thursday, so I’ll enjoy the outdoors there!

We’re looking at a 90 degree day here in SD. I’m so glad my D is home on spring break from Philadelphia & will miss this big storm.

Still sore from the half - it involved a long, steep hill of close to a mile which I walked most of, but my quads are super sore just from that. I’ll try to get out for at least a couple miles later.

Snowpalooza going on here … I got the pup out for a walk before it got too bad; the rest of today we’ll take her out on a leash as infrequently as possible, for as short a time as possible.

Stay warm and safe, everyone!

That hike was tough because there was no shade… And someone decided that 6 miles was short enough so water was not needed. It stayed in the car. That lukewarm water tasted so good when we got back to the car. 25,000 steps for the day overall because we walked along the beach after dinner. Easy day today! Looking for a place that serves Hula Pie or an equivalent to celebrate Pi(e) Day.

OMG no water!!! I would be a dehydrated flat pancake on the island!!! You GET that Hula Pie!

Yeah, abasket! That’s why we basically speed walked that trail!

Ready to hit the beach, but kid is supposed to report back on the interview she had this morning, so I am waiting here on the lanai for her to call while Mr. is yakking on the phone with his coworkers (another dehydrating hike would be better). Kid scored a new one today, the job sounds very much like her cup of tea, but she is not happy that that job is in TN.

We did not get nearly the snow they were calling for - but all night long the plow was going up and down my street. All. Night. Long. Had to cancel Pilates for this morning, so went to the super hard mat class yesterday afternoon which was a bear. Taking a Reformer class this evening. The wind is just howling now.

Ed Whitlock makes me think of Ohio and MOWC. You’re cut from his kind of cloth.

Ran pi miles with the dog to celebrate pi day, and now I’m going to go get pie.

6" of ice/wet snow and now snowblower decides to run out of gas with no fresh gas to refill it. Cleared driveway, sidewalk and path the old fashioned way. Talk about the importance of functional fitness!

Ugh, Michael. That sounds awful,

Glad your tank was full, Michael! Please do not forget to refill it with something nutritious.

Hoping most of the snow shoveling is done for everyone. Be careful on those covered icy roads/paths!

Another gym day today - was limited with the time I had to be there, but got a good sweat worked up in a short time!
