BB, best wishes ahead of time assuming you’re having a procedure done. You have plenty of good-thought cheerleaders here to root for you! If you’re willing, just let us know what week we should really focus our prayers on!
Lunchtime walk of 1.5 miles - jellybeans and danish in the office today. Hopefully the walk helped burn off my sampling. Run later when I get home.
Thanks, abasket. I am having one last consult with my other gyn… The specialist thinks I need to clear out some “real estate” in my belly. I think I agree with her. I am trying to figure out when it would be the best time to get this done… Probably, early August.
Enjoy your visit, @PlantMom and @fireandrain. Very jealous of the folks who have opportunities to get together IRL.
I hope a strategy for resolution is reached soon, BB - although it sounds like you’re getting plenty of functional fitness.
Pilates training this morning; we used the jumpboard for some cardio, lots of stretching, tricep extension, bicep curls, short box series, spine twist supine, hip openers, short spine, long spine, thigh stretch (as horrible as it sounds), back extension…glad it’s done.
My Hoka recovery sandals arrived yesterday - I love them. They feel so good! I have to say I prefer them to the Oofos - the fit is superior.
I’m glad you like them, sabaray. They aren’t as soft as OOFOS, but they seem more supportive and firmer in the front so I don’t turn the front edge under. I’m really happy with mine and ordered my husband a pair.
Hot power yoga today (95 degrees). It felt heavenly when the instructor opened the door in back during savasana. Going to go for a dog walk after dinner. I think (knock on wood) that spring has finally arrived in MA!!! Loved going out today with out a coat.
BB: Glad you’re getting multiple opinions. Hope you come to a decision your comfortable with moving forward.
My Oiselle Hokas arrived yesterday so of course I had to try them out today. Gray and drizzly so headed to the gym for 3.7 treadmill miles. They are lightweight and comfortable, toe box is a bit narrower than my other shoes but not an issue. Ages ago I tried the Conquest and I did not like it - these are better. I still think I’ll be sticking with the Transcend but I can see wearing these for shorter runs. I like them a lot more than the older Adrenalines I have!
^^Good for you, walking at lunchtime! I love jellybeans. Just have to taste all the different flavors and colors.
Echoing good thoughts for Bunsen and your upcoming procedure.
And continued good thoughts for CBBBlinker’s brother. It sounds like the doctors are watching him very carefully (as they should).
4 miles this morning. Suddenly it’s summer here (hit 80 degrees on Monday). We skipped over Spring. Fiance has been working from 8 am to 7 pm on weekends. He skipped 2 days of running which is very unusual. But the wedding is coming up and he wants it to look nice.
I’m glad you like them, sabaray. I think they have more of a Brooks feel (except for better forefoot cushioning) than a Hoka feel, but that’s OK. They are light and responsive. I think they have improved them since the Clayton 1. They are pretty, too!
A 5.1 mile run this morning with Back on My Feet. It was really nice - we had the full moon over the canal as we ran in the dark and there are so many flowering trees and shrubs right now that the air was really fragrant. A beautiful and peaceful way to start the day.
I hope PlantMom and fireandrain had a nice visit!
Bunsen - that sounds like pretty major surgery so I’m glad you’re getting multiple opinions. You keep such a positive attitude and that is admirable.
That’s the best part of an early morning run - we had a gorgeous moon on Monday, just setting; then of course a spectacular sunrise. The fragrant air I can do without - too much pollen is not my friend.
What a beautiful run for you, C3Baker! And so happy for you, Fallgirl–nice pace and no pain is fantastic!
FireandRain and I had a great visit. Yesterday we went up to a state park where we hiked 5.5 miles along a very dry, sandy, sunny, and warm trail. I think she now can appreciate the glamor of PlantMom’s sweaty red face in our lovely southern heat: Mother Nature’s special badge of honor of dark dirty legs and feet; and the wonderful feeling of carrying around shoefulls of sand . We both carried cameras although we kept the photography to a minimum. We ran this morning, kind of, sort of together (4.5 miles for me, she added a couple more), and then took a stroll through the little town nearby. It’s so great to meet fellow D/E/H/W members IRL and know they’re every bit as wonderful as they are after virtually sweating it up here for so long. Thought of MoWC and others who ran the race a year ago. Fingers crossed for MOWC rocking the same event this year!
FallGirl, I bow to your pace. I have managed a 10 minute pace from time to time but also realize (and I’m ok with that!) that 10:30 - 11 is my very comfortable spot.
I did an Orange Theory class at noon. Thought it would be less crowded than the morning classes (this studio opened in January–first in my area) and classes are always full. Got a good workout and I liked the trainer–she gave modifications for the weight training block, which some trainers here don’t do. I have to decide if I am going to commit to it. You can’t wear a Fitbit–you need to get a special OT monitor, which is $99 or rent one. I have been renting, which is stupid because I have almost paid for one given all the times I have rented. It annoys me to have to buy what amounts to another Fitbit that I can’t use anywhere else.
Will decide on OT when my gym membership is up in May. For folks who go to a gym—what do you pay? The gym I go to is the nicest in my area and I pay $1600 a year for an individual fitness membership (doesn’t include swimming or tennis). Trainer is extra as is Pilates reformer–mat classes are included in fitness membership. Fitness also includes power class, zumba, kick boxing, step, spinning, and a few others.
I pay a combined $1440 a year for gym (includes swimming and group classes) and the Pilates studio (barre, mat, TRX, circuit classes). Pilates trainer and Reformer are extra. Our gym is affiliated with a medical center but is definitely not the nicest in the area.
