Took my own advice. A Blaze coming my way too. Hope I can figure out this thing!!!
Congrats, @nahnah12! Those conditions were brutal. Great job.
Bunsen- about 5 of us are getting them, so we can help each other!
Ok, I think the blaze in the small sold out while I was checking out. I didn’t really need it…
Are you sure? Keep checking. I swear I clicked and put it in my cart so many times before I actually got it to show that I had one in my cart for the correct price.
I did @abasket. No go
It lets me add a small black one and proceed to checkout (I didn’t actually buy it) using this link:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019VM3F2M/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1
Normally amazon is pretty good about disabling sizes that aren’t available.
Woooo! That worked @notrichenough!
On the bus with the blaze crowd Lol!
@deb922 Glad I could help!
@ohiopublic I agree. I don’t think I’ve said my age, but I turned 30 this past fall. One of the reasons I started posting in this thread was because of all the helpful info I got from it. I trained for my first half while I was in grad school, so I was 22. I swear, I could just go out and run. Didn’t need to take water or any nutrition. It is MUCH different now (I think my body has kind of been through the wringer with some things, which contributes). I cannot just go run a half now, especially without thinking about what I’ve eaten, had to drink, etc. It’s different and I need to adjust. I also need to stretch more, I’ve gotten a foam roller for those longs runs… my body just needs something different than it did then. I really appreciate how others are so willing to help!
And I appreciate everyone’s support! I was a bit disappointed about not even being close to 30 minutes, but good lord, it was just ew out there. And’s it just getting even hotter! I don’t even want to know what it’ll be next Monday, lol!
Don’t beat yourself over not being close to 30 min… Extreme heat and humidity are super tough physically. Glad you had fun and came out in one piece!
Speaking of heat, the weekend of 4th of July Mr. B decided to put some bark over the spot where it was badly needed. He was extremely upset that he has aged too quickly because that he felt that he was “not as strong as he used to be.” I told him that it was heat and dehydration… This past weekend, the weather was less brutal, and the entire pile of bark was gone in no time. Mr. was happy that he was still in good shape.
YES! That heat will add a LOT to a “normal” 5K time. You did great.
Nahnah12 - you are at prime running age! I think I was 30 once?
Yeah @deb922 - so glad something worked out!
Nahnah, we are a LITTLE jealous of your age but as long as you don’t rub it in our faces, you’re a great fit here!
@BunsenBurner - I heard Comcast was having some specials.
Them and the roofing company are the worst of the bunch!!! A week in their view means 2? Go figure.
This article about sugar consumption, weight and health is fascinating and for many will challenge their deeply held (but scientifically unsupportable) beliefs. Well worth the read:
Thanks Michael. Appreciate unbiased and objective research on diet.
Interesting piece, @MichaelNKat. I’ve adjusted My Fitness Pal’s settings to show me fiber instead of sugar. I found I was consistently exceeding their sugar goal even on days when I had no added sugar. Now I’m focused on staying within the appropriate calorie range while hitting protein, carb, and fiber goals.
That is an interesting article, Michael. It will take me a while to dig through the actual references, but I am already convinced that they cherry-picked the research to support their position… There are some fallacies in their conclusions, too becaue there is no control. And at the end, they still say that looking at the labels to mininize bad stuf and eating foods that come without labels is healthy!
I agree with that.
